It's a saying in AA & NA: "One [drink] is too many and a thousand not enough." Alcoholics & addicts suffer from "an obsession of the mind" and "the phenomenon of craving." Once that obsession takes control, a single sip/hit/dose/puff/etc. sets off that craving for more and more and more... Much like other illnesses or diseases, alcoholism & addiction are chronic, progressive, and--if untreated--fatal. Unlike other illnesses or diseases, such progression usually lead to "jails, institutions, and death."

He totally butchered Molly, though. Not sure what he was taking, but it definitely wasn't pure MDMA. And trying to explain LSD to someone who hasn't taken it? Come on.. Other than that, he did a pretty good job.

I received a lot of education about drugs growing up but what really shocked me was watching the movie "Christiane F." It was so painfully detailed, it weighed on my mind heavily. It’s the movie adaptation of a famous German autobiography of a former heroin addict in the 70s and is about the lives of heroin addicted kids. I’d recommend it

It’s a sneaky drug definitely. People are so used to it, that they think it won’t hurt them. In reality it’s killing their liver, and can easily kill them. People also fail to realize that chronic alcohol use can actually make your body dependent on it, which makes it hard to get sober. Getting sober at that point (especially if you try to do it cold turkey) can actually kill you.

When he said you start by the people closest to you I was like thank god. A lot of people don’t realize that you are pressured by the environment and social status of those around you. I was told that nothing bad would result from using, that I would just have a good time, and that it was just for fun. But that’s not the case, everything is for fun until it’s not. I got addicted and from having fun to using it every month, to every week, until I couldn’t go throughout my day without the fix. Recovery is hard but is 100% worth it. 12 days sober!

When I was in my late teens, early 20s, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. My friend asked me if I wanted a better way out. I said yes. I was in chemo for 2.5yrs and told I was cancer free and going to live, finally, but I was by then addicted to meth. One day at work I passed out and woke up in the hospital. I'd tried for those 2.5yrs to OD, to go out on my terms. I went home that day, told everyone in our house if they were real friends, they'd stay, never bring drugs into the house again and at least be clean when they came to visit. Only a few stayed. I went cold turkey that day and haven't touched anything other than prescription meds and even then I'm very careful. Now if I smell anything that reminds me of meth, marijuana, coke, anything I took back then, I dry heave. I used to puke, but I've gotten control over it now. I love hearing stories from others who have beaten the addiction. This gentleman may not know me, but I want to say to him that he is awesome. It takes a lot more strength to walk away than people really realize.

I interpreted his comments on weed as not having an issue with the actual plant being smoked but the synthetic weed that has ridiculous THC concentration is bad. Which he is honestly right about, the higher concentration does increase risks, plus a lot of those cheap, bootleg vape juices have other weird chemicals in them that can really mess your brain and body up.

@@ysko7 What do you mean dosed. If you can get your hands on 16% THC commercialised marijuana you would be dissapointed at having bought such shitty weed. Legal weed is a lot stronger, grown up to 35% THC and this number is increasing by the year. If you buy illegal weed it isn't commercially grown and doesn't have the same amount of THC. I'd say between 15-25% THC. Illegal weed is just as harmfull as legal weed. Except in the US where they spray your weed with hairspray or even worse.

@@etamamoka180 That sucks, In Belgium we don't have stuff like synthetic weed. I have been smoking daily for 5-6 years about 6 grams a day (I'm addicted af, I know and I am working on it) Only thing we have here are some dealers that would spray it with hairspray so the weed would weigh more. But its very visable, the buds are very hard and when you are smoking the ashes are sticky and don't fall off. But over the 6 years I have only had it happen to me like 5 times. I know probably about a 100-500 people that smoke weed here and nobody has ever had synthetic weed. Once I had weed that was already growing fungus that fucked me up but that was only once. For people to worry about this stuff is if you are smoking daily, and even then it's very rare, normal smokers don't have to worry at all here in Belgium. But like the LSD I have come across here have never been bitter, never tested it though. MDMA and pills like 2CB are also quite clean compared to things I read about on in other countries. I guess we have a good drug market here. Maybe it is because Antwerps is a big drugport and because we live close to the port the drugs haven't been cut asmuch yet I don't know. Been in the drug scene for a third of my life now and have only heard of 2 overdoses, one GHB and one that mixed like 7 drugs and thats it. Thank god they both survived.

Marijuana is much safer in a controlled setting, which is why in the US it’s legal in some places because it’s controlled, tested, and dispensaries are inspected consistently. People can’t just do what they want with it, so I don’t want Koreans to think that Marijuana in America is the same as Marijuana in Korea, it’s different and controlled, and safer. (Also I just want to reference that yes, IF you buy from a street drug dealer then duh it won’t be safe, but if you get it from a LICENSED dispenser where they grow their weed and it’s regulated then you will be safe, I thought that was like a duh thing, but I guess not)

I'm a recovering addict (1 full year clean as of recently) and I love videos like these it makes me feel less alone in the world and with my struggles, breaking addiction is one of the hardest things I've had to do especially with no support on my side. I've struggled since I was about 13 with drugs and at 19 I almost lost my life from an accident fentanyl overdose, I cry thinking about it because the paramedics almost couldn't get me to wake up no matter what they tried and because my heart stopped for so long I do have some lasting mental effects. I've done all sorts of drugs the only ones I haven't are heroin and bath salts so I can say he pretty accurately described the drugs and side affects. It's never worth it people you're not above the drug you can think you won't get addicted all you want but you can and will, if you're struggling as well I'm more than happy to message you and be your support if you don't have any.

@@cheehee depending on who you go to and what you're getting it's expensive yes. If the dealer thinks you're cute and is trying to sleep with you that's how I normally get good discounts (no I never did sleep with them just led them on and flirted to get the deals) or if I was really lucky and the dealer is really skeevy they just gave me and my friends the drugs for free in hopes we would sleep with them or something, that doesn't mean it's the best quality drugs tho sometimes the freebies would be pressed(fake) and would be mixed with fent or m3th probably to get us hooked so we'd come back. Not to mention having addict friends they'd normally share their supply with me if I was out and I'd do the same for them. Sometimes I would even have guys who didn't use buy things for me because they liked me and I could take advantage of that. Or if I dated another addict they'd usually just buy for me and give me their drugs to share because I was their girlfriend. I really didn't have to spend much money I just had to use others or flirt

As I reside in a country (Canada) that has legalized the sale, consumption and even the right to grow our own plants for personal use (might it be medical or not). I truly believe that having a regulatory branch of the government supervising the procurement (traceability) and quality (limit of thc and cbd) of the product does limit the possibility of negative side effects from products from illicit sources (purveyors). And also by setting an age limit such as alcohol is beneficial; as pertaining to the ongoing brain growth and development of young adults into adulthood. It's funny how people just think of marijuana and not at the plant (cannabis) that has a long lived history (more than 10 000 years) as part of ceremonies or tonic or event the widely known fiber that it produces (hemp).

He even mentioned how they're test subjects because they don't know the composition of the drugs they take (since they are illegal). The studies that indicate benefits are great news, but obviously scientific studies are done in a controlled environment with a precise composition for the drugs, and it's unlikely (or at least impossible to confirm) that street drugs' composition match them.

It’s interesting how surprised these ladies are at the experiences he’s telling them about. Are the effects of drug use not prevalently taught in Korea? I feel like in the US we have easy access to learning the effects of drug use through books, shows/documentaries, personal experiences, etc. Dopesick (Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America) by Beth Macy is a good example. This book documents how the opioid epidemic began in the US, factors that have kept fueling it, and the lives it has ruined and forever changed.

I asked one person what if it was their son, daughter, or someone they are close to. They changed their mind quickly. Not me stoned from cannabis watching this cracking up at their explanation of it. 😂 Bless your hearts, but yes Mary Jane makes everything feel great but NO I don’t want to start doing harder drugs. That’s pure ignorance and you can develop schizophrenia IF it’s a mental health condition that runs in your family. But that can happen with any trigger. Like how you can’t mix certain medications because you can experience side effects. You can just experience something really traumatic and have a mental breakdown and develop schizophrenia. Just like if you eat poorly and don’t workout, you can develop serious diseases. Marijuana is considered medicine in my state and it’s also used legally recreationally. South Korea still has so much learning to do about cannabis. You can’t demonize a plant that has SO many health benefits. You certainly don’t become suicidal when using it that’s why it’s also used for depression.🖤🖤🖤

You can't demonize, but you also can not sanctify it. It is a plant, but it is still a drug. People must be aware of what they are taking, and it is not "just like if you eat poorly you candy develop some diseases". That's just being irresponsable, you know that this comparison is a fallacy. Marijuana has its perks, but it can still be addictive and hard to quit. It can trigger a number of mental disorders. Yes it can be used for depression, but just like any other licit drug, if the dosage is wrong, or if you have some predisposition, it will cause you some pretty shitty things. I don't agree with how they portrayed, cause that's just that "spooky" kind of thing, that usually don't work, and I do think it should be legal. But it's still a drug if is used for that end, and awareness is needed.

A lot of this sounds like the D.A.R.E. program in the US from the 80s and 90s. It wasn't very successful at preventing my generation from trying out drugs. What is important is to figure out whether you have an addictive personality or not. I tried marijuana, acid(lsd), mushrooms, and ecstasy numerous times in college at parties, raves, and with friends. It was very fun. But I guess I'm not built for addiction because it wasn't hard to put those substances behind me once I graduated. I probably take a thc edible once a year socially with friends, have a few glasses of wine once a month.
@legorockstar2000
@legorockstar2000 2 жыл бұрын
most of those substances are low on addiction scales... you don't need an addictive personality to get hooked on harder drugs like heroin, crack, nicotine, and alcohol. There is actually a lot more at play than just "addictive personalities" in terms of addiction. There is also comorbid drug use among those who suffer from mental health issues. It was also easy for me to stop smoking marijuana, taking acid, and doing mushrooms after college however, that does not mean that I am safe from other substances.
@melon421
@melon421 2 жыл бұрын
The concept of an "addictive personality" is actually a myth. There are no personality traits that predict addiction or make someone more likely to become an addict. There are definitely pre-disposing factors like mental health issues, living in poverty, trauma, etc. But in terms of actual personality traits there's no correlation
@onlythegracee

true, it’s not actually personality but by environment and genetics. newer studies are suggesting addiction can run in the family - around 50% chance of someone predisposed to addiction becoming addicted. the predisposition is based on genetic variations. prob something to do with how ur brain reacts to substances but not sure. the other 50% is environmental. so family history is super important to know! personally, addiction is very traceable in my own family.

I got so bad with weed, first thing I did when I woke up was smoke, I needed so much as my tolerance was so high, I became dependant on it just to function and feel something, I was smoking at least £80 worth a day, which I agree was expensive but in my area at the time it wasn't easy to get hold of so I had to do what I had to do to get it. To add onto the ecstacy/molly/mdma side effect that he stated; quite literally you end up taking more and more before you know it. Ive had friends go to a different event (rave/festival) every weekend, and each time their pill intake gradually increased because if they just took a 1/4 (the recommended for beginners) they “didn’t feel it”. I one time met someone who had to take 2 1/2 pills just to “feel it”. And they would redose with 2 throughout the night (redosing is not uncommon for long events 8+ hrs). One pill usually lasts 3-6hrs, meaning that person had about 4-6 pills in one day. Not to mention ecstasy really f’s up ur brain. Because it messes with ur serotonin levels, the days following you are just in a really depressed and almost lifeless state. And if your usage is prolonged it can be long-term effects.

this was perfectly executed... educational but also, by the end you realize that when you only hear the good things or attraction of drugs, you're curious enough to think "before i die, i might try it..." which, tho by the end that curiosity gets snuffed out by the information and anecdotes, you have empathy for those who get caught in addictions thru curiosity and bad influences. having former drug addicts speak to people is so important- drugs should be talked about openly to satisfy curiosity with info about consequences. but criminalizing and stereotyping addicts will never be the right path that gets at the root of the problem. anyone, no matter who, could become addicted. we all make mistakes, it's natural to be curious and experiment, especially when you're young. if we relate more to addicts, even realizing that with just a few different circumstances you might've gotten caught up in a drug... i think we would become more pro-active about drugs in communities, be more understanding and supportive of recovery, no matter what country or community, if we based our education on empathy such as this gentleman.

I wouldn't classify LSD as an "addictive" substance because you can only do it so many times until you realize you've fried your brain hallucinating for 9hrs 3 or 4 times. Of course there are always rare cases and people predispoed to underlying mental health issues. But if you're relatively normal and in control, pretty harmless.

I've only had one acid trip and I smoke marijuana on occasion. Many people say that weed is a "gateway drug", but I'd beg to differ. The thing is, anything can start an addiction if your mental state is unstable. People who are dealing with any form of mental health issues may (or may not) try to medicate themselves in order to escape their emotions, and from that self meditation/escapism, grows dependents to the point where they cant live without the substance. Now, it isn't inherently a bad thing to take a drug every once and a while. Just depends on what your looking for in them. If you've been stressing out about life, then smoking pot here or there isn't going to kill you. Maybe it's your anniversary or a special occasion, and you want to take a tab with your partner/whomever and trip out to some office. All I'm trying to say is be careful of drugs, but not afraid of them. Kits are available online to test any substance for impurities. There are trip killers that help when your having a bad trip. They don't stop it, but dull it down a bit. Stay in a safe place that you are comfortable being in. Most importantly, monitor the amount you take, especially with psychedelics. It's better to start small before working your way up to a full dose.

I would change the title to former or recovering drug addict. Language is powerful, don't set this man up for failure by still referring to him as an addict.

honestly weed is legal in my state and i smoke everyday while being able to function fully as an adult and a person ya know. i work,sleep,talk and live perfectly fine while being high:,) i don’t believe weed is a gateway drug tbh i believe if u feel like doing other drugs it was bound to happen regardless of if u start w weed or not due to your own curiosity yk. i have no interest in any other drug same w the people i know and my friends so there’s no need to try other drugs but if someone is already interested/curious abt mad drugs obviously weed can become a gateway drug if it’s how they start.

My mom was hit by a car and run over by a truck walking high and drunk on the freeway. She was in Acoma for 8 days, and still had people bring her alcohol in the hospital. She didn’t get sober till I think 2 -4 years after that happened to her

Of these I have done marijuana. It was fun, but nothing to write home about. I felt just super relaxed and mellow. Also about marijuana, they're still studying it. I have not heard about the schizophrenia thing, but I have read that, overall, it's not really a "gateway" drug, outside of "I did an illegal, let me do another." It actually has been shown to help with addiction in some cases. Alcohol is actually, statistically, a bigger gateway drug than marijuana. But he is very right, since it's illegal, you don't know where it's coming from. I've had friends who have had theirs laced with cocaine, LSD, and more. A theory was going around that DMX died because he smoked a joint laced with crack. Cocaine and X freak me out because people cut it with fentanyl now and that kills people. Now that I know the Molly contains meth as well (possibly) that's a no. I dunno what you mean by muscle relaxants, but if you mean benzos, they saved my life, but I took them for anxiety attacks (depending on some circumstances though, they got me high as a kite, but it was unintentional). I have taken some prescribed opioids and I would throw them out once I didn't need them anymore. I can see how they are so addictive. Pain I didn't know I had went away. But I also once lost my ability to pee. I won't do meth if I can help it. I have seen what it can do to people. I won't take LSD. My own brain already freaks me the fuck out. I don't need more of that. Or any hallucinogen. Then again, I have heard they help with mental illness so maybe I'd consider them under a doctor's care. But LSD lasts for a LONG time. Like HOURS. I don't need that in my life.

I'm a pharmacy technician, but I do partake in certain drugs such as marijuana since it helps me with my insomnia and psilocybin for depression. Don't worry, I'm not dependent on them nor do I use them as a gateway to try more drugs. In fact, I'm trying to wean off of weed since shrooms are now legal in my area and they don't make me feel sluggish. This career path made me quite educational about drugs and honestly opioids you get in the pharmacy are way more dangerous than pure weed and shrooms. There are drugs I will completely draw the line on thanks to it.

Bro when i was like 15 or 16 our house is located at like the end of the apartment. Then i was aline that afternoon. My cousin,i knew for sure was an addict but controllable that time. He took out this small plastic container like super small two fingers only ft(usually where cocaine is put) then i saw him cleaning the insides of it, i even saw him light up a lighter. But i didnt saw any signs of white chemicals. I was unbelievably even helping him some ways to clean the plastic better lmao. When he went home thats just when i realised he was snorting drugs.
