That should be the same, the first two large numbers indicate the inside and outside diameters, the convention about which comes first seems backwards to me to be honest, I might have put it in the wrong order (again). And thanks glad you like it, please do share your results with me when you're done, on Facebook or myminifactory or whatever.

could this be scaled down significantly? or do you think it wouldn't work? part integrity would decrease too much.
@JasonSuterOssum
@JasonSuterOssum 5 жыл бұрын
I see two challenges (a) the gears in the diff would get _really_ small, beyond the scope of FDM printers I think, but maybe SLA/DLP could pull it off (b) it would probably need a redesign since the bearings would no longer fit, unless you managed to scale it to perfectly fit smaller bearings, but that seems unlikely

@JasonSuterOssum
@JasonSuterOssum 3 жыл бұрын
It is designed to be the same scale as scx10 axles, which are called 1/10 but of course that all depends on what you are building. These would be way to big for my 1/10 MB jeep, you'd have to scale it up to about 1/6 to use them at this size. If I remember correctly they are about 185mm hex to hex.

What material did you print the case and gears with? Do you use any grease on the ring and pinion gears?
@JasonSuterOssum
@JasonSuterOssum 6 жыл бұрын
These are all printed in rigid.ink ABS, but if I have any hassles i will migrate the gears to nylon. So far they seem to be doing ok. I have put some general purpose grease on it, which made it a lot smoother, but to be honest I don't think it was the right stuff, I have since read that petroleum based greases are no good for ABS in the long run. White lithium is apparently good.

Jason Suter Thank you Jason! I ordered samples of filiment from Rigid Ink and really like it but they don't sell full rolls of their products here in the US. I was going to suggest white lithium grease. It doesn't seem to attack plastic. Cheers!

@@JasonSuterOssum I have some questions: First: is the parts list correct? I counted four 12x8x3,5, two 18x12x4 and four 15x10x4 bearings. Secound: is it normal for the parts to be so under sized? The pinion gear shaft came out with a diameter of 7.7mm and is supposed to fit in a 8mm bearing (?). My printer is usually very accurate.

@@blubb7711 Hi. I have checked the bearings and you are correct, thanks for the correction! I have updated the list. I have also uploaded a new pinion which is designed to have a 7.9mm diameter. Most printers are not as well calibrated as yours on outer dimensions, I usually find people can't reliably get things to fit if I leave the clearance so tight. When aiming to make things easily printable across a vast range of printers I usually provide 0.3mm clearance.
