Lol I went to OSU in 2016 and I didn't even know this occurred. I looked up a Columbus Dispatch article and this protest was all over the place. One group protested Israel's mistreatment of Palestinians; another protested that food served at OSU's meal halls were mostly from corporate/heavily processed sources; another group protested OSU's toying with the notion of outsourcing its utilities to outside companies, which would cost OSU employees their jobs. This must be why this protest didn't accomplish much in the long-run; if you want people to listen to your demands, you need a united message accompanied by logical/reasonable demands. Just randomly occupying a space asking for a million, seemingly unrelated, demands isn't going to sway minds. It's just going to piss people off.

+Rusty LH Brown Shirts would beat you to death in a vicious street fight. These crybabies inside the body of an adult are cowards. Their parents never set up some limits for them and now they are unhinged. They need their head to be straightened and the best way to do it is as calm but unyielding as possible. If you start screaming or get aggressive you would play into their hands. Look how the "women" (I'm reluctant to call her that, because of her behavior) in the red shirt tried to provoke them. But this eloquent, calm and confident behavior made them uncomfortable and their overblown egos deflated.

College is where people come to learn, work and study. It's not an open forum for those who want to protest. There are student leaders that you can go to and hold meetings to discuss displeasure. These are the acts of those who want to behave in a way that's not civilized. They didn't get any permission, they choose to subdue people trying to work and they are nothing more than a deterrent to those who want to learn and study. You have to read and agree to the student code of conduct. If you violate those rules then you have to suffer the consequences.

+stony tina I'd be willing to give them a second chance so long as the infraction was minor and not something obvious. I hate that whole "ignorance of the law does not make you immune to it" BS, as there are so many, I feel it is unreasonable to expect people to remember all of them. However, after I informed them they were breaking the rules, I would expect them to follow them. Again though, this assumes that the rule(s) they were breaking were minor and not common sense. Not knowing you needed a permit to protest isn't something everyone would think of, but not leaving when you are told you aren't allowed to be there, yeah, you should know how to follow instructions.
@stevenharmon15928 жыл бұрын
It's not ignorant to state the facts. It's ignorant to assume you know me to be a child or that I don't have information concerning such sit-ins existed. But to add to YOUR ignorance is that they have been against school policy then like they are now. Universities and college's are a place to learn not to preach. The parents are not paying for them to be there for any other reason except an education. The code of conduct is spelled out NOW, and they need to learn to abide by the rules just like they do if they ever decide to get off their asses and get a job. I'm pretty sure their employer is not going to allow them to do sit-in's if they aren't happy about having a slurpy machine over a koolee machine. Are we clear, ARE WE CLEAR!?

I think it's a lot deeper than that. I'm in this generation and it's difficult not to be more persuaded by this culture from a young age. It's in social media, celebrities, news, school, advertising, friends. It's ridiculously difficult to see any bigger picture than expecting everyone to perfectly fit in your idea of the world. It's a generational issue more than a domestic issue.
@tellurye4 жыл бұрын
@@mitchderise73 I see what your saying, but I respectfully disagree. The PARENTS today are no where near involved in their kids life like they should. I literally see so many kids pretty much run their parents not the other way around. That's the job of the parent to make sure they are being taught by them and NOT the internet. So it absolutely is a domestic issue.
@johnnyflorence2194 жыл бұрын
@@tellurye Home and society are not the same thing. Parents teach kids how to act around parents but teachers teach kids how to act at school. Life isn't externally tough as it used to be. So people just don't grow up as fast. Culture has a lot more to do with it. I encourage my kids to act immediatly to physically defend themselves. To never provoke but stand up for themselves. The kids will defend based on what the opinions of the teachers they are around. If they stand up for themselves and the teacher gets them in trouble, they are less likely to handle themselves. If the teacher tries to help the kids resolve it after the fight, kids usually become buddies. Society raises children more than we are willing to admit. Moms with too many kids to handle is usually begging for a stranger to give kids a death glare. The kid dancing holding his crotch won't listen to anyone except the scary man that says cut that shit out. Society must tastefully intervene. Just like these men here are.

I'd argue that you're not truly an adult until you've held a job, and learned the lessons about society, your fellow human beings, and your relation to them that go along with that. While it's not a rule written in stone that SJW nonsense shrivels up upon entering the workplace, it has a strong tendency to work that way. Telling your boss to check his privilege isn't going to do you any favors. You're forced to get along with people who don't share your background or your world views. Ultimately, you're in a situation where you're facing a non-stop stream of pressure to think of others before doing things. That difference in thought is the mark of an adult, and something that SJWs certainly don't understand.

They're too busy learning a trade. Aaaaaand, they're expected to act like an adult.
@Zeptyche4 жыл бұрын
Well the culture of people in the trades reinforces mutual respect. When you go into the trades or skilled labor, you are paying your bills, not your mommy and daddy. There’s no safety net for you other than you. When you are accountable for your own success you’re not lofting around like these kids.

Understanding and accepting are two different things. Educational institutions are not corporate offices, there would be protests, there would be free spirited arguments, not corporate sheep scared of getting fired

@@jackharvey7824 The building is literally closed. It is private property. What are you trying to argue?
@TheBrownieSundownHD5 жыл бұрын
@@jackharvey7824 I don't believe that the building being closed when the building is closed is a "cop-out" answer. None of those students had any business being in the building and even caused a scene inside. I don't know what happened afterwards but from the sounds of things they should've been carted off from the start.
@TheBrownieSundownHD5 жыл бұрын
@@jackharvey7824 As other sources have been posted, they caused a rather large scene literally less than an hour before filming. Also, "we aren't doing anything bad" isn't a valid reason to be allowed to stay in a closed academic building.
@TheBrownieSundownHD5 жыл бұрын
@@jackharvey7824 Also, why should the faculty be interested in "negotiation"? The building is closed. Those people just caused a large scene. They have no right to be in that building and, once again, should have been carted off by police then and there.

I loveeeee how they all take turns trying out the same condescending tone thing. They don't understand that this is the exact same thing that gets students in trouble normally, they aren't immune to everything because it's under a guise.
