I think it's important to point out that Mecha Gaikotsu reviewed the pearlescent version which seems to be the source of most of his frustration since that kind of plastic is way more brittle and fragile, especially nightmarish for a kit with this shape and complexity I'm sure.

I do have the VOB version mentioned. And tbh it is not that bad for a straight build, ofc I repainted mine to be matte white cuz I like it better. Mecha Gaikotsu was probably not very used to handling finicky kits like the AC line, they were never meant to be played with, more of a traditional model kit meant for display only.

From my understanding, a lot of the issues is with the Pearl version where there are a lot of issues with the plastic being a pain to work with.

I think people always get the wrong idea when watching multiple people build the same kit. Like you do customs and put in a lot of extra work for all your kits. Mecha, on the other hand, does do straight builds to his kits to cater to how a beginner would see it. I've found all of his content does hold up, on that regard. The kits he does straight builds of do typically have the issues he points out but only if you do a straight build. I do disagree on his rating scale a lot though as everyone is different on their tastes. Some people really like bulky, big kits that don't have a lot of posing options while others would much prefer to have a highly posable kit that might not be able to even stand by itself. I believe he got the pearl version as well, which that kind of plastic, at least in my experience, is much more brittle and tends to break rather easily. Regardless, you made am amazing recreation of the white glint of my memories. Thank you for this

At the very least he did point out the pearl plastic so he had some semblance of an idea of what he was getting into, but his video also perfectly illustrates the point made here: this kit requires the extra attention to be amazing. Mecha went in blind with little experience with Armored Core and already having had problems with previous Kotobukiya kits, so sadly enough yeah, you need to know a thing or two about model kit building and be willing to put at least a bit more of an additional effort beyond just panel lining. Simply put: Mechagaikotsu's review illustrates the extremely casual builder used to the innovation and pampering of Gunpla, while this one illustrates a person who wants to put a good amount of additional effort in to the building, applying both to this incredibly game accurate rendition and other people's less glamorous personal projects made for fun. TLDR; if you're just starting out or don't have the time to go crazy with this, Mecha is right, leave this kit be, otherwise you're welcome to go absolutely all out on this.

@@patrykjaskowski4226 exactly. I personally want this kit since I do put in more effort while I would NEVER recommend a kit like this for a beginner. I typically tell people who are just getting into the hobby but wanna start doing custom builds to get some of the 30mm kits since they're cheap and simple with high levels of customization for beginners

The squares on the visor are more accurate to the game model. The dots are only in the opening cinematic. Yeah, that price is heavily inflated. I’ve bought three AC kits, and the most I paid was $100, and that was one that hadn’t been reprinted in some time. I managed to get two of them when they got reprinted, and they were about $50 a pop.

The attention to detail, passion for building and respect for the IP. Already knew this would be a sick build! The battle damage just feels like it was just taking on the spirit of motherwill in the opening movie. I'd love to see what you do with the other AC units! Looking forward to the next build!

I wish Kotobukiya would reprint these. I loved AC4 and AC4A and the White Glint is hands-down my favorite AC design of all time (close tie between this and the Aaliyah Unsung) and my only regret is not getting these kits when they were being sold. I couldn't find them anywhere anymore. 😢

Hi, I just wanted to say that usagundam has the white glint on pre order(estimated to arrive this October). Its still expensive at over 90$, but considering the disgusting Ebay prices I think this a bit fairer. Just thought I'd try and help a fellow modeler.

Same, years ago I had the opportunity buy it but I needed a new laptop since my old one was not good so I had two choices, buy the kit or laptop. I choose laptop and I do not regret it but its a struggle to find the kit know adays.

What you did to this kit I feel like embodies the main draw of the Armored Core franchise. You didn't just make White Glint, you made *YOUR* White Glint. Also, the rifle at 28:43 came with the Aaliyah and Aaliyah Supplice kits which, if I remember correctly, came on the same runner as the rifle in White Glint's right hand since those are two of the weapons wielded by Berlioz. And the reason why the kit you got has less detail is because it's based on the in-game model whereas the kit with the VOB extension is based on the model in the intro movie. And for any beginner modelers who really want to start with Armored Core kits, I'd recommend starting with kits from the game predating 4 and 4A (especially the Nine Ball kit).

HELL YEAH FINALLY SOME ARMORED CORE!!! White glint looks amazing! If you like the armored core kits I'd recommend you do the 03-Aaliyah or supplice kits next. Their the same model except supplice is an actual next from ac4, so you best bet is to choose supplice since you like doing characters. Also thank you for mentioning the guy who tore into this kit calling it terrible, this kit isn't the sturdiest but he was going way to hard on it. Also he got the opal version which is the cheapest one cuz it used a crumier flimsy shinny plastic which explains a lot.

Great to hear that you actually enjoyed it. One key difference between you and Mecha is that Mecha just do straight builds, review it, and call it a day. As for you, you always go the extra mile and make it more than a straight build. From painting it to giving it extra LEDs. Hats off to u man, nice to know that you didn't have a mental break down like Mecha did

i mean mecha didnt like the kit because he is a straight builder, plus the pearlfinish he had was really brittle. So yeah straight builder hate that i can understand when the kit is not that well articulated and not on bandai modelkit standart. Yet a good looking design.

Great build dude. Armored core kits are more meant to be a display piece than a playable figures to me. Plus in game they’re more of jets with legs than super articulated robots. The game is also great. You should try it. They’re also working on a 6th installment of the main line games directed by our boy Miyazaki, who directed Dark Souls.

I've built the one that Mecha Gaikotsu had and I don't have any problem with it while building it except for the plastic are kinda oily, making the primer hard to stick to the plastic. But besides that, I have a lot of fun while building this kit, because I was so burnt out at straight building Gunpla and this kit really just make loves the thrill of building model kits all over again.

Firstly, superb build! I appreciate how far you went with the addition of LEDs for the thrusters and the grungy weathering. I understand where the animosity from that specific review came from, although it's not really fair for the kit. Bandai has spoiled us with excellent products that go together smoothly without a whole lot of work or tools but sometimes folks don't realize that unlike most Gunpla kits, that's not usually the case for the typical model kit that requires alot of time and care. And from what can be seen from your build, this wouldn't surprise anyone coming from that background. Lets hope we'll see some new kits (and maybe some re-releases) with AC6 since these ones are getting real pricey and hard to find!

Oh man, so many memories. I loved AC4FA and I have 2 AC kits on my collection, a White Glint chibi and a Cr-c89e Oracle... and man, the oracle had HORRIBLE feet that made me groan in anguish. I have been aiming for a 1/72 White Glint for some time but he only gets expensive over time and I don't really have the courage to splurge in that kit right now. Still, you build is beautiful and really evoked the charm the White Glint had in For Answer.

Love the paint job you did. Plus I love Armour Core. Just bought my 2nd one. Ya the prices are steep. But I lucked out and bought my first one when they first came out. Now it's tripled in price, 3 to 4 hundred to purchase. And now found another one at a store that didn't know the inflated price. 😂😂 1 hundred for a 300 dollar model at current prices right now. I scored. Hard to find them. Love the many parts and details. I waited long enough, now building the two of them. Noblesse oblige in white is first, then Ray Leonard 04-Alicia UNSUNG black and deep red 2nd. Thanks for showing your painting techniques on glint to look like The one in movie. gonna use the same style on Noblesse. Weathered.

watching you build this was kinda nostalgic for me since I have this model too. I collected a lot of the armored core model kits despite being a total amateur. I loved the Armored Core games so much and I loved the models they made of the mechs, the Nineball Seraph model is my favourites out of the ones I have.

Mechas review is valid though, not all builders want to get into deeper modeling. Both perspectives are valid, and not every kit is for every builder.

I have won awards on model building since my first trophy at 6 yrs old first place. Then learned to paint figurines battle tech and Warhammer 40K. You learn a lot about dry brushing and black wash all to look weathered and real looking. But nice they now have panel line paint. I used to do it with watered down black paint. 😂😂😂 Ya these kits are for professionals if you really want it to look awesome. Start with easier robots first that are way cheaper to get your painting skill level up, because there is a lot of detail on these kits. These are very expensive and you'll want them to look awesome. 😊

I always tell my friends, you really need to dedicate yourself if you want to buy something. Model kits, games, toys, ect they are not cheap they coast a lot of money. I always tell them are you have to be determine to buy it if you are not determine your going to be stuck in a limbo of where you either regret not buying it or buying it. As a model builder myself its a struggle of what to buy.

Apparently AC mech kits are coming, due to the surge of interest because of the new game. They just gotta make the kits first, it will most likely if we are lucky be “make your own AC” line as well as iconic AC units, and maybe some of the cool bosses. I cant wait, they can use what they learned from modern kits to improve the shortcomings of the older AC’s. I cant wait to make a sick black/gray with Red accents AC unit. Especially if I can recreate what I can have in game.

I bought the AC6 statue on ebay for $40 total and I plan to paint it, the only problem is that it's missing the right hand so I plan to take a dremmel and other tools to make it look like battle damage.

Love your work man. You did a stupendous job on this guy and really brought all those details out! Would love to see you take on a Volks IMS Five Star Stories kit sometime. Those guys have a tremendous amount of surface detail and offer a good challenge to build.

Will be looking forward to it! FSS is full of gorgeous designs. There is a new kit coming out in December called Auge Arsculs that might be up your alley. Some older FSS kits are tricky but the more recent ones from the Vaiola (IMS-08) onwards are really nicely engineered and more build friendly.

just want to know where you get that decals ? U had this kit but has hard time to get that. lol I was in those beginner group, and kinda wanna do it later after understanding better painting I know it hard but still quiet love this kit but prob a this kit just need alot of work to be very good . I had done weathering and lining at least which make it representable but damn what you done is something prob I would need to reference on when I get back on this kit. I also get it quiet cheap when I was traveling in japan which is around 8000 yen what a deal.

Awesome build! Do you find it hard to use black primer when painting white? Did you have to paint more layers instead of what you'd usually paint on white or grey primer?

So I recently got this kit, it was actually a fairly straightforward build apart from very minor fitment issues, but I was also wondering about the hex visor option. Then I went to watch the AC4A opening movie again and found where I remembered it from: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hJicYLyW37ytYmw.html. The hex visor is more of a blast shield for use during Assault Armor activation/Primal Armor depletion.

2 things. 1 you mispronunciation of them name is rough but that's just SUPER NIT PICKING. 2 as someone who had this kit when they first ran. They DO NOT hold up to time ALL I mean ALL versions of them kit I've ever had and have seen all have brittle plastic and will break down over time. The Poly caps as degrade fairly rapidly. The impact resistance of this kit is non-existent. I've also has fitting issues even after sanding. Granted I've only had up to the 3rd run of this kit in black. However the 1st standard and pearl were just terrible. 2nd got a little better but not that much. Skipped 3rd pearl because it still had overly hardened plastics. While standard had overly soft and the black polycaps lasted maybe 2 years. I'd love to have an AC/FA kit that isnt super fucked. However I've only had luck with the HEXA GEAR stuff. So hopefully the final production runs of the REX and AC kits this year will be better.

Yes both the opening cinematic AC's from AC4 & AC4-Answer are great designs. White glint does get it's ass handed to it, but it looks good doing so. And yes if your going to do a review on a model kit that you don't like because it isn't a gundam or what ever, then don't. Gunpla KZfaq's judging kits on articulation and parts falling off, with a gunpla ranking system is just stupid. It's a model kit not a toy, Snap/glue it together, paint it, customize it and injoy the hobbie. Don't just snap it together, review it, sit it on the shelf and leave it to gather dush because you just want that patreon money. I watch these reviews to learn about loose joints, problem areas and to get a general look at the kit. If I like the model I'm going to buy it regardless of what some KZfaqr says. KZfaq's have gotten way to long in the tooth with patreon accounts and the stupid people that help keep them out of a real job. Japanese, Korean and Chinese paint builder's do great video's with great lighting and show there work as the kit comes together. Then at the end we viewers get a great look a the finished model for more then 2 minutes. Perfect!

Mecha did the V.O.B. Ver. Not this kit. Multiple people have said this one is much better. Having built a lot of Koto kits myself, their detail is great but their plastic is definitely worse than some 3rd party brands.
