Can I say this ? You've been very helpful to me. As an old guy just wanting to keep his intellect evolving instead of decaying. I enjoy studying Shakespeare with you. Now I can imagine some hardcore Shakespearian scholars may find your insights superficial or too neatly wrapped . Or too geared for passing tests. But for me personally, your approach gives me a platform for deeper research. Thank you sir. Your hard work is appreciated!

I hate how I want to like Iago so much. Shakespeare does it so well to make him likable and charismatic and it makes the audience so mad, because we know that it's fake, but we want to believe him.

Good observation. We will all meet people like that, who fool us. Sir Toby Belch in 12th Night is another such character. The user. Shakespeare was a smart guy.

Thanks, Cheyenne. Appreciate it. I'd like to do Midsummer Night's Dream next. Then probably King Lear or Julius Caesar. Any favorites you'd like to see?

Signs of psychopathy behavior that conflicts with social norms. disregarding or violating the rights of others. inability to distinguish between right and wrong. difficulty with showing remorse or empathy. tendency to lie often. manipulating and hurting others. recurring problems with the law.

You use the label "psychopath" often. I'm not convinced this is the best word for Iago. He is a lying, fake manipulator. He has an evil agenda. He is a " nasty piece of work". I just don't think he ticks all the boxes of a psychopath. But I might be wrong.

@@antidepressant11 Thanks for the feedback. I was trying to decide if he is a psychopath or sociopath. I use the terms somewhat loosely, but it seems to me he's psychopathic: a very good liar, manipulator, with zero remorse or empathy. He's too smart to get in trouble with the law, until the very end, of course. Certainly a Dark Triad case to some degree.

@@5QShakespeare thanks for responding in detail. You've got my respect for the work you do. Shakespeare is such a rich vein for anyone interested in psychology. I get so much out of your analyses.

@@antidepressant11 Yes. That's what I love about Shakespeare, too. His preternatural understanding of people. And the beauty of his words, of course.
