This show was so ahead of it's time, and so family oriented that it literally scared the critics from saying anything good about it. Fantastic story-lines, and the family make-up of how they have to constantly survive in a new and or alternate reality was truly brilliant. My only wish would have been to allow this show to have had a longer lifespan on television, because I rank it right up there with the likes of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, and that's pretty good if you ask me.

I used to LOVE this show. I remember being thrilled by the episode where the kids were pop stars and had their own Barbie type dolls in a shop. Hey, I was a kid!

What an awesome show. I watched this all the time. The intro was the greatest. I loved other world themed shows such as this, Kidd Video, Dungeons and Dragons. Why do all the good shows get canceled? Yes, I also had a crush on Gretchen Corbett.

Talk about show, if revamped the right way, could be a hit today.

This music is intense.

I have a very vague memory of this being shown on Turkish TV which was the only Tv channel back then. I was 9 or something. I remember this family going to the pyramids and being transported to another dimension. It was so mesmerizing for my childish imaginary world but I do not remember anything about the episodes. I was always so charmed by the pyramids that I actually went to Egypt to see them and realize how we humans idealize things. I also remember the name of the show as "another world". It is so strange to realize that more than 30 years have passed like the blink of an eye.

I read these comments & I feel like I'm reading my own posts! I too loved this show when I was a teen... And for years seemed to be the only person on the planet (or at least, the 'zone') who remembered it!?! I do recall in the early 90's, the Sci-Fi Channel (And I DO mean Sci-Fi... You know, the one that actually showed vintage Sci-Fi in between commecial breaks!) aired it in a mini-marathon event. (Where they showed coplete blocks of short-lived shows!)

After looking into the subject of why there is amnesia about this program, which was on on Saturday morning, by everyone I knew at the time, which absolutely must have watched it as I did, along with other people that remember this program and have observed they are the only ones that remembered it, I have been told it is the MANDELA EFFECT, looked into it, I is profound, a must for everyone who is curious about the state of consciousness,

I enjoyed this show back when it was on and I remembered the theme music to this day. It plays a little slower than i thought I remembered but pretty much as I remembered it.

I was still in highschool when this came out. It was the best thing on cuz everything else was a repeat.

I was a kid and watched every episode with my parents and I loved it, and always wondered why it didn't take off. I would love to see SyFy channel run this. They could run a marathon of it, and see if they could reboot it, like they did with BSG. The writers could do a lot with this set up and special effects could be amazing.

They showed it in Britain. It was pretty good.

Someone needs to do a new version. Maybe have another family or a group get caught up in the same experiance and perhaps refrence that the same thing happened to a family in the 80's, maybe have some of the original cast guest star even. :)

Message to all you coke-head TV producers -- get these obscure, one and two-season shows that never made enough episodes to get into syndicated re-runs onto netflix now so people who want to watch it can actually pay you money -- so you can go out and buy more coke. I was busy being a teenager when this came out and barely remember seeing it advertised once or twice. But NOW I would watch it along with UFO, Space:1999, the Coffin Joe movies that nobody could find back then.

Misfits Of Science like Otherworld was a Universal (NBC Universal) show. In Germany, they have the DVD set to Misfits of Science with all 16 episodes (15 were aired on NBC and one was unaired on NBC but aired in Germany) (Look for Die Spezialisten Unterwegs). However, America hasn't released it on DVD. If you go on KZfaq, there are episodes of Misfits of Science available for viewing.

Okay, there better be a DVD release of this series damn it because this looks amazing!!!

This was my favorite show when I was a kid. I was heartbroken when it got cancelled. I remember Trace went on to Head of the Class and Nova was in A Nightmare On Elm Street. I wanted this show to be real. heh heh

@mayena Universal owns the TV rights to the series. So, if anybody wants Otherworld on DVD, it would be through Universal or Shout! Factory, who are known for getting the rights to short-lived Universal shows like Street Hawk and Tales Of The Gold Monkey.

@freemind4ever I remember this show from when it originally aired back in the mid-'80s and also when USA Network used to air the reruns. I have the WWF's first Royal Rumble on tape when it was on USA and there was a commercial for this show during one of the breaks.

This was a terrific show. The tv exec who had this cancelled should have been executed. Why is this not out on DVD. For gods sake, they have square pegs on DVD, why not this!

when i was a kid (25 years ago) i was wacthing this show not so much. even i can say i wacthed it 2 times maybe. However the only thing that left in my mind for years is its introduction music. Up until now i have mumbled its music many times. and also i did not forget the eye (i think it is the eye of Ra). so i tried to find this show in utube many times but i failed. i dont know why? thats weird really.

I saw this when I was child here in Spain, don't know the name it has here but I remember one episode where women rules the word and the family boy takes out the skirt and was arrested, great disturbing show!

A pity they never aired the final 5 episodes....I have one that I managed to save on VHS tape! So, at least I Know it was a Real Show! ^^X^^

8 episodes aired-VERY unlikely more than 1-2 more would have been shot. If so, SCI-FI probably would have had them. Jonathan Banks or Sam Groom would know & probably can be reached thru Web. Canceled for low ratings. Sci-fi Saturdays 8pm following Airwolf was a lousy slot

@daltexmex It probably did look better when it originally aired rather than this degraded quality video/audio from a VHS recording. Compare it to shows like Airwolf in terms of effects.
