12 жыл бұрынMy mom saw these elevators through a door and got to ride these elevators because she was disabled, though I don't know why they let her ride these because she didn't have a wheelchair, so she could have just used the escalator to go down.
These elevators will be modernized by Otis.

Year installed: 1931

Nice find, outside of the elevators that serve the decks, the rest of the elevators have been unreachable to elevator enthusiasts. We (elevator enthusiasts) need to make an arrangement with the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, 30 Rock and other high rises to film elevators that are turnstyled/visitor ID'd off from the public. While I understand the need to keep the buildings secure, as long as they know and perhaps have a guard accompanying filming elevators should be okay.... Now let's make it happen!

If your in a wheelchair, when you enter and exit the empire state building, do you need to ask for assistance/escort to go from the lobby to the mezzanine?

They way my mom did it, she was escorted to these elevators. I think that day the escalators were only running up and she didn't want to hurt herself walking down stairs (She is not in a wheelchair, but has bad knees)

upanddownadventures But if someone in a wheelchair needs to visit the empire state building, would employee assistance be required to get from the entrance level to the second level, where the security check, ticketing, etc is, and the same for leaving?

***** I think there are 2 sets of elevators used for disabled people. One elevator for entering, and these for leaving. I don't know about entering, but they had to escort my mom to ride these elevators for leaving, so I would say probably yes.
