I was cooking in a greasy spoon restaurant it was empty that night about 2 in the morning a couple was sitting in a booth eating and the waitress I was working with that night played this on the jukebox without realizing I was singing this song to the best of my ability and I DONT sing in public the look on the face of that waitress when I started dancing with her was of pure shock the next thing I know it's 28 years later and we are married with three kids and a grandbaby on the way. thank you Otis Redding I found my beautiful wife because of you and my oldest is named Otis in honor of the man who helped me find my love. and yes I still sing this song to her the best one was at our 25th anniversary I made my son cry when I sang it because he said that he could truly feel the love I will always have for his mother

It was her favorite song before she lost the battle with cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, life could be so unfair most times but sometimes I wonder why bad things always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts

Otis Redding's music has a special place in my heart, as it is deeply connected to my parents' love bond for me and my memories of my late father. Growing up, my parents often played his songs on our car journeys, and as a result, his music has become intertwined with my cherished memories of our time spent together. Whenever I hear Otis Redding's soulful voice, I am instantly transported back to those car rides and feel the warmth of my parents' love enveloping me. The emotional depth and passion of his music are a reflection of the love and care that my parents have always shown me. However, the connection between Otis Redding's music and my parents' love for me goes beyond just memories. His music speaks to the universal themes of love, loss, and hope, which are at the core of the bond between parents and their children. Sadly, my father has passed away, but his love for Otis Redding's music lives on through me. Whenever I listen to his songs, I feel a deep connection to my father and a sense of comfort in knowing that his love for me endures. In many ways, Otis Redding's music has become a symbol of my parents' love bond for me and a way to keep my father's memory alive. It reminds me that even though he is no longer with me, his love and influence continue to shape who I am today.

I was walking through a mall and this song was playing. I was caught off guard as to how incredible his voice was. I immediately went into the "record store" playing it, asked the name of the song and the artist. Bought a complication CD and have enjoyed it for years.

As the story goes, Otis was a back-up vocalist with the flamboyant left-handed R&B guitarist, Johnny Jenkins and his band, the Pinetoppers, back in '62. When there was a break in between sets, Otis strolled up to the microphone and he proceeded to belt out this Gospel-influenced tune--and he did it acapella! Upon the conclusion of These Arms of Mine, those who were blessed to have witnessed the event were reportedly too stunned to clap, much less whisper a single word from the multitude of jaws that were slackened at that moment in utter astonishment. The rest, as they say, is history...

I remember my mother playing this Otis Redding song, along with I've got dream's over and over in our basement on vinyl... She was grieving after my father divorced her, it was so sad.. We felt so helpless, there was nothing we could do to help her pain.. We were hurting as well... These songs are timeless...

The man's heart had known great pain, evident in the way his soul hangs on to every word of this song that though performed by many other fine and talented singers, he alone owned it.

"Where are you right now? Somewhere warm? Safe? In the arms of someone you love? Now what if all of that was gone? And the only thing you could do is survive. You would right? You'd try. You'd do things. Horrible things. Until you lose that last thing you have left, yourself. But what if you could take it back, all of it? A reset switch. You'd hit it, right? You'd have to."

When I hear a song like this I just wonder how much personal pain is in it? As it brings us so much joy listening to it weather it be toward a loved one or a past loved one. And was writing and singing music this mans escape from a past life he left behind but still haunts him

This video makes me want to buy the sketch. This girl could make a living just playing these videos & selling these “Tribute Sketches”. That would be really cool to see young artists doing this type of tribute work. I think there’s a definite yearning for a connection to beautiful things like this from the past...and for that reason I think the sketches or even prints of the sketches would definitely sell.
