Here's a "cutdown" compilation from the live stream on 5/1/20 at TrackTribe West studios, where I create a brand new track. This track started with a simple sample and ended up having a vibe that I dedicate to one of the greatest music makers of all time, J Dilla. The vibe is strong within these walls. Can't stop, Won't Stop. Stay tuned for the next Live Stream, every Friday at 7:30pm PST.

That sample is clean, but you put the appropriate amount of stank on it. Love it.

I found your stuff way back when, before I literally knew nothing about music. I listened to your songs and went "damn, what is this sound?" And got major into funk from then on. I'm 17 now, I've picked up bass, piano and guitar and if I had enough room I'd have a drumset as well. Once quarantine is over I'll be 18 and all set to do some gigs with a few musicians down here and I just wanna say thanks for that. You were a huge inspiration for me back when I first started composing and still are.

DAMN!! I hate I missed this the day it came out... As an old head, i'll say funk is becoming somewhat of a lost art. I'm so glad there are artists out like you keeping it alive. Great stuff Otis!

coolio. I agree, it's much better when it's condensed. However, the Live Stream schedule is what keeps me doing these on a consistent basis. And the energy from the live comments helps inform what I end up making. It's never planned. I'm just finding something new on camera and letting you into my process. :-)

I used to do this on FL Studio 6. I stopped making music for 3 years until I could realise/study what Dilla was doing with his sound. When I returned that shi** was off the hook! I’m so glad I found this. It has certainly inspired me to come back to the beats.

I use Serato Sample. Makes it super fast and easy. You can also use Ableton's Simpler plugin, but I'm dialed in with the Serato Sample workflow.
