I like that about Luffy. He doesn't need to know somebody's past in order to help them or understand the pain they're going through. He did the same thing in the Arlong Arc when Naziko was telling them Nami's past. All Luffy needs to know is that his friends or people are hurting and he will fight for them. Luffy also have shown with Robin he doesn't care about a person's past if they're his friend.

17:06 This is a bit of a callback, because Luffy slept through Nami's flashback too. To date, the only flashback he's confirmed to know about is Robin's way back at Enies Lobby. Luffy generally doesn't care about a person's past--just like he didn't care about Ace's past when he asked him to be his friend.

Then the whole I have namis body was funny as hell. Oda wanted to use someone to show namis feeling for jimbei. It had to be sanji because sanji is an idiot around women.

Nah you just don't get it lol, Sanji being real, Jimbei is the cause of why Arlong went to the east blue and caused all the hardships for Nami. While Jimbei's actions weren't evil he did spread evil by letting Arlong out, even he can't forgive himself for doing this. Honestly Nami's take on it while nice isn't really realistic because her mom got killed by Arlong, their should be still a part of her thinking that if Jimbei didn't let Arlong go then her Mother would still be alive. I felt the way you did but not for the Sanji part, it was the Nami easily forgiving him, even though she doesn't really know him. I can understand how others like it, but It just didn't work for me. A slow steady establishment of were Nami getting to know Jimbei better before the forgiveness would have worked better for me.

The crazy part about Hordy is he doesn't have any backstory about why he hates humans but he just heard from the society and he grew up with that mindset. Similar with our society, sometimes there are things that we hate that actually just come out from our opinion or society

29:37 Rob is 100% right here. Writing isn't just about making the viewer feel comfortable, or making them like characters. Good writing sometimes means having characters that are actually just evil, or have views and opinions that the reader vehemently disagrees with. Hordy may be a devicive character, but his writing shouldn't be dismissed just because he takes actions that we disagree with, or because of his opinions.

She stopped the doctors because she knew she was dead and wanted her last moments with her kids. When she was introduced it was mentioned that she is super fragile, that’s why she broke her hand when she slapped the fishman that was stealing. So that bullet through her heart was fatal.

Pat used to give respect to Danzo for how great of a villain he was. Im surprised he is so against Rob for praising how evil Hordy is. Even Jerry likes the Joker. Joker did a TON of messed up things. But Jerry still likes him for how evil he is.

What the guys appreciated about Joker and Danzo was the fact that Danzo's main goal was to protect the leaf and Joker (assuming) hurt society back for its pretentiousness and ignorance. Thats why they respect arlong more cos he had better morals than hody like not killing his own ppl

@@xtra_ordinary I understand Hordy Jones as a villain. He's a product of Arlong arc what he stood for. Hordy looked up to Arlong as a kid and admired his hatred for humans and ambitions. Arlong hatred created a monster that is Hordy who is physically and metaphorically Arlong's hatred on steroids. Arlong would never kill a fisherman but Hordy doesn't care. Hordy destroys for the sake of destruction. When Queen Otohime saved the celestial dragon and told the fisherman to put down there guns because there are children watching. She knew that if the children would inherit the hatred that the adults had for humans and how destructive that would be. Same thing with Fisher Tiger's death when he told his crew that children like Kuala who wasn't taught hatred will be the ones to changed the world. I think what Oda was telling us how people who holds hatred in their hearts will pass their hatred to the next generation and if you willing to hate and hurt someone who is of different background than you no matter if people may try to justify it nothing will stop you from hating and hurting your own people.

10:00 The show and the manga did a poor job of clearly conveying this but Otohime was shot in the heart. She knew it and she knew she wasn't gonna survive any type of field treatment so she wanted her last moments with her kids and give them a dying message.

Well 1. She has Observation Haki so she can tell in that moment of clarity that wasting their time trying to help her was pointless. 2. If you look at where she's shot, it was the heart area. No amount of medical attention was gunna help her in that situation.

lol 15:30 Sanji the simp almost ruined this moment, glad you guys caught on that too. I've been watching this show since I was 13 ( 31 now ), I even went to film school to learn storytelling and such, but I'm still not used to Sanji's character 18-years later. I understand simping is part of his character-flaw for comedic relief that will crack most people, but as you get older, that sh*t is annoying as hell. Throughout the OP story everyone had a revelation that made them change their thought pattern based on what's happening, but Sanji remains the same when a woman is involved.

Well tbh from the looks of it, the paramedics that were on the scene during Otohimes death didn't look like they had bags of blood on the spot and from the looks of it, they only had basic first aid on hand at the time, while the hospital was probably a ways away on the island.

I think Danzo is a better for other reasons, but that is not one of them. That is what evil Villains are supposed to do. Nobody is saying that Hody is a good person, he is a good villain.

Danzo had morals, based his decision on the safety of the hidden leaf. Hordy is just not right in the head. His decisions don't have a moral compass, just hate. He isn't really traumatized by the humans (or he doesn't show his trauma, but if he was traumatized like tiger was, I would think ODA would show hordy's trauma), he just hates them. He just feels that he is better in every way.

Not just them. There's sections of this arc that reflect the Inquisition of Christians in 16th Century Japan. Inquisitors would round up suspected Christians and order them to trample portraits of Jesus Christ. If the suspects couldn't forsake Christ, they were publicly tortured, beaten and executed. Sound familiar?

nami and shirahoshi both lost their moms as kids so they sort of felt a connection to each other since they both went through a similar loss. yeah sanji was stupid in that scene, lets his love for women blind him. lol the doctor scene was funny, she's in shock people, treat her, though it was likely a fatal shot and she knew since like wellz said anime characters somehow know that shit.

And who are those people that think “she is racist against all fishman” lmao, she is the first one to forgive Hachi back in Sabaody. The reason she doesn’t want to hear Jinbe “explain” has nothing to do with “racist against fishmen”, but because she doesn’t need to hear why Arlong - that racist mf do that shit to her. There is no reason to justify for that action. When she heard the whole story, she instantly know the goal of Fisher Tiger and Otohime, she know the “cycle of hate” need to end, she know Jinbe doesn’t deserve the “guilt” he has felt so she forgave him, to give him closure.
