I gotta be honest, I don't know about these moves so far... were essentially swapping Tarasenko for Perron, buffing our bottom 6 a little and counting on Jensen to solve our defensive issues... I don't know if I see it...

Scoring goals isn't a big problem for the sens, especially if Norris can stay healthy. Jensen just needs to be solid and not spectacular, plus he shoots right and might compliment Chabot or Sanderson more than Chychrun (defensively, not offensively). Ottawa didn't surrender a tonne of shots last year, so with better goaltending they should be fine. Making the playoffs will depend on continued growth from Stutzle, Tkachuk, Sanderson, Pinto, Greig, etc. They are still one of the youngest teams in the league, but they need to sniff at a playoff spot this year, or the fans will start to lose interest.

@@scottmiller8617 100% agree with better goaltending and the changes we made on d and the depth we added i feel way better about this lineup. Our offence was never a problem our defense needed work

And able to consistently play on his strong side. Which wasn’t an option on this team. -30 was glaring, especially when compared to our other top 4 and even Branny.

Kubalik was awful, Kastelic is no big loss, and Katchouk also. Losing Chychrun hurts, but at least they get a veteran right shot dman

The team seems better balanced now with Chychrun gone, just need Pinto signed, another LD and another fourth liner. Definitely disappointed in the return but there weren't tons of great RD available on the open market that weren't already nabbed so the hockey trade route seemed like the only option

I dont know if the team got better... Yakemchuck at least 2 years aways. The one thing that could massively improve the team is Ulmark but well have to see.

Jensen was actually very good defensively for several years beside Orlov. It's only this past year that he had a bit of a down year beside Sandin/Edmundson. Chabot is a lot more similar to orlov in terms of talent so there's reason to be optimistic. Given you can't afford Chychrun next year and Yakemchuk might be ready to take an NHL role in 2 years when Jensen's contract is up i don't hate this.

Not the day I thought i'd see from the Sens but I'm trusting the process. Would love to know what the hell is going on with Pinto right now?? Has he actually demanded a trade? How did things get this bad??

He didnt request a trade it was a rumour. Ottawa already said theyre trying to sign him and if he gets offer sheeted ottawa will match

You will like Perron, he is always talking and loud but he is a heart and soul guy. He will help create a winning culture in Ottawa. He is also much closer to his hometown. I know Sens fans are disappointed with the lack of signings and movement of Chychrun. As a wings fan I feel the same way about the wings not signing any big names today, at least so far.

A bigger return for Chychrun would have been nice, but i am fine with the moves they made. Getting Pinto signed needs to be the next order of business. If Norris cannot stay healthy, Pinto is gonna be an integral part of the team

@@LockedOnSenators I'm sure they are, just not sure when? I like the Ullmark addition a great deal. I could not believe Boston took on Joonas's contract. High marks for Staios on that one. Nobody can win all their trades. I'm actually glad Stevie didn't take on a bunch of bad contracts today, maybe a few of the youngsters can finally get a chance to play?

Chychrun trade was an absolute dud, hope Jensen can fit with chabby 🤞 Peron signing is almost a perfect fit as a right shot, fits the middle 6 nicely adds some intangibles we have been lacking, and playoff pedigree. Love it! Much needed depth and 2 way capability.

So so, so far. If Jensen works as a defensive minded D, this will be fine. The Perron deal will require Ross to play nice for a while!

At least they didn't overpay anyone. Perron at 4 million a year on a 2 year term is fine. Jensen only makes 4 million for 2 or 3 more years and he will be under 35 when it expires, so he should be effective until his contract expires. Nothing special so far, but they have a good young core, so they just need to tinker a little for this year.

I like the Peron signing…we need some dirtbags on defence. The Chychrun trade was awful…I would have kept him and tried dealing him at the deadline…I was hoping for at least a second pick. Let’s face it…no good free agent will want to come here… Worried that if we don’t make the playoffs this upcoming season…Brady will be asking for a trade…and I don’t blame him. I’m not blaming new ownership/management…but Dorion really screwed this team

If they can’t sign Pinto and he requests a trade look at other players to ask for a trade out of Ottawa. He is liked in the room and should be part of the core. Get it done Steve. So far not impressed with our new GM trade wise and drafting. I understand the scouts are all part of the Dorion era but the new owner put some money to build a analytics team. Are they using them? Sens left lots of better skilled players on the board when they drafted to bring in big, character guys. I am not against having bigger players but when you draft it should be best player available. Go Sens Go!

Sometimes you need to trust your scouts. Karlson wasn't considered the best player available when he was drafted, and that worked out fine.

Jensen is a rh shot and a defensive defenseman. We needed both. He's not a long term fix. He, along with Perron will provide the veteran leadership they were looking for.

@@jaredhoimyr5511 I think that's the goal. He will play top 4 as I don't think they have the cap space to bring in anyone else. If they get Pinto signed and Norris plays at least 60-75% of the year and completes it healthy, they should be better.

Gross overpay for Perron. Trying to put aside my hatred for him as a player but for a guy thats over the hill, soft and going to soon be surpassed by our own prospects, this signing made 0 sense. Pretty pissed off overall that we got softer and statistically worse on July 1.

They needed a top pair guy. Zub is not a top pair guy. He should be playing with Chabot. Staios should of dumped brannstrom, Joseph for whatever and used the draft picks to get rights for a guy like Roy and bring in the top right guu we needed!

@@jbauer5432Roy isn't a top pair RHD, or he would be getting a lot more than 6 million. Plus, Zub is not gifted offensively, but he is definitely a top pairing guy defensively. Advanced stats love his defensive game, and the sens are much better defensively when he is on the ice.

@@scottmiller8617 No, he isn't. But neither is Zub. Roy is #7 in the league for blocked shots, he hits, he led the #2 overall unit last year on the penalty kill. All areas the Sens NEED to improve on. He is better overall than Zub, and would fit well beside Sanderson as a complementary player. Staios said in his press conference no one said no to coming to Ottawa. So I take from that, that it was about money. Washington is not a hot destination right now. They brought an older defenseman in Jansen that will do fine, but they could of done better, that's all.

He is an RFA coming off a gambling suspension. He is a priority, but he doesn't have much leverage. He will get signed, but will it be a bridge deal, or long term? I would go bridge deal for now, unless the sens are sure Norris' career is in jeopardy. 7 million on a 2 year deal would be fair, but that walks him right to ufa, if I'm not mistaken

Chychrun traded for next to nothing, Jensen is 33, Perron is 36 - overpaid for him, Amadio - overpaid. Gregor - who (depth / AHL guy)? Senators will not make the playoffs with this roster. Pretty depressing day as a Sens fan so far.

I thought that’s what Sens were looking for? Vets and a stay at home RD. That’s what they got. Listen, they didn’t have the cap space or the situation to after any big ufas. What can Sens offer? Nothing. No money, no sun, no winning and no tax relief with high cost of living. Tough sell. Be realistic here boys.

Perron will be a huge upgrade on Kubalik, and Amadio/Gregor both signed for under a million. The sens making the playoffs is dependent on Ullmark and the health of Norris. The sens can score goals, and their defensive game was better last year, but Korpisalo and Forsberg were absolutely awful. If Ullmark has a .915 save percentage or better, I guarantee they make the playoffs.

Believe me you will all be happy Chychrun is gone he wasn’t liked much in the room Brady and Stu where not fans of him he supposedly had a bad attitude and ego. The team is much better than last year. Save this comment and come back to it when we are in the playoffs.

The problem your running into is that Pintos agent,,is pushing Pinto to an American team.Its the agent bullshit,they have done this with numerous players.Its wrecking the game. If you can't get b8g ticket players,then you have to think differently.There are other teams like Winnipeg,Morgan Barron,Nino Neidereiter.If you want to make a solid pairing,then Zub and Zadorov,as a second pairing would be better.You need some bigger defenceman.Look at the size of Vancouvers d men,take a look at Tampas take a look at Edmontons.Learn from your opposition.

Not a chance. Chychrun was not good defensively last year. The sens will be better defensively(imo), but there will be less offense from the blue line.

They seem to be “hitting the bid”. It’s no chess match. Don’t want to get stuck with him. That would be unacceptable. Market could get worse. He’s a UFA after this year.

Gotta say bring on the rebuild, this is not a team that can make the playoffs, and with all the other teams in the league improving I would say after this seasons Linus Ulmark rental and giroux expiring, this will be the only year they have to make the playoffs and ya not happening, trade brady and norris now for picks we need to speed up the rebuild
