Ottawa Senators TRADE RUMORS Again With Brady Tkachuk? NJ Devils as a Possible trade Partner?

Brady Tkachuk is in the trade rumors again and some people see connections with the NJ Devils. The Ottawa Senators quickly shutdown the trade rumors involving their captain & star player Brady Tkachuk during this years trade deadline, but his name is coming up again and this is the 2nd time in a calendar year.
The Devils are in glaring need of more of a physical presence, but do have the assets to pull off a trade of this magnitude. The Devils can dangle one of Dawson Mercer or Alexander Holtz, this years 2024 1st rd pick, and possibly one of simon nemec or seamus casey to get this deal done. It will take alot to acquire Tkachuk, but his presence will make the Devils top 6 one of if not the best in the league.
Do the Devils have enough to acquire Brady Tkachuk & a legit number 1 goaltender, well see as this is going to be a big summer for Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald!

I would never get rid of Simon Nemec. He will be the best defensive defenseman on the Devils roster a few seasons down the road.

I dont want too either, Nemec will be reallygood, shown to be now, but Tkachuk and Hughes on the same line has such a good ring to it. My guess is Brady stays a Sen, but his name popping up again is sketchy

Rupp is crazy. OTT would ask for the moon. The Devils need Physical players but not at the cost of half the roster. The only conceivable way this happens is if the Devils wind up picking high in the draft and that pick is a major part of the deal. And NJ needs a defensive System. Competent Goaltending will be enough with a real defensive structure.

@@anticensorshipsociety1063 It's not a terrible idea as Bray is a Physical Foward who can score, which this offense lacks and is the type of scoring needed in the playoffs. This team needs a much better defensive structure. The pieces are there. Let's not discount we had two Defensemen playing major minutes who were 21 years old this year

Can you imagine if Fitzgerald can somehow land Tkachuk & a top tier goalie, that would be awesome! I believe Fitzgerald will add some nice pieces this offseason, he has to with the team taking a step back this year

id give up holtz over mercer. Mercer is more well rounded and grind the puck out pretty well and scores a bunch of goals. i could see Nemec maybe getting moved. We have too many off-defensemen. Giving uup first round and 3 players sounds like a lot.

I agree, Holtz will be moved this offseason. If it comes down to getting anything substantial, he will be part of a trade. I agree, I'd keep Mercer too, yeah he had a down year, but hell be ready to go day 1

You can't pay $8 mil for Tkachuk, $5-6mil for a goalie and 4-6 mil for a D-man and only take $900,000 off the payroll. You can't expect to keep Mercer. Mercer is going to want to get paid.He may want $4 mil. (Which is not out of the realm of possibility for his ask). Holtz is the affordable option to keep.

I think the bigger issues are defense and goaltending. I think it would be a bad move giving up all those high end players for another great forward when we have enough forwards already.

The right head coach above all else. A sound defensive structure and go into the season with Allen; he’s played well since he’s come over. Tkachuk is just the type of player they need but I wouldn’t touch our young D

Yes, Fitzgerald needs to get a great coaching staff together and find a #1 goalie. A tandem of Allen and that said Goalie along with hopefully a healthy year from our star players well be okay

I’m with ya Joe , esp with Mcdermid, ever since he joined the team everyone on our team stepped up physically and fought lol even Nemo. As for BT, gonna be toughhh, but obv saying goodbye to Casey, Nemo, a first, and prob Mercer

I would rather have a cheaper Brady Tkatchuk like a third line guy who can score 15 goals a season, play two way hockey, and pay him like 4 mil a year versus trading draft picks prospects and players for Brady and then paying Brady 10mil

Those "expendable" players will be needed for the goalie trade. The season went down the drain mostly due to a lack of D and the goalie problems. So yeah it would be great to get another big forward but priority wise fixing the goalie problem and getting another top D is enough probably to get to the playoffs.

I think everyone would be extremely happy if this ends up being the forward group next year. Now Mercer or Bratt might be traded in any such deals this summer and then perhaps a FA would need to be signed. I predicted this Trade about a month ago and posted it and then let’s go devils podcast, section. I believe we should be trading Jasper Bratt and Dawson Mercer for Brady Kukuk, and defenseman

I really hope we keep Bratt and Mercer. Mercer did have a down year, but he will rebound and honestly we can probably resign him cheaper now with the year he had. Bratt has been getting better each of the past couple of seasons, my guess is its Holtz on the move

He's the kind of player every team in the league would want. He is young, signed for 4 more seasons, and is the captain. Why would Ottawa trade him.....and if Ottawa wants to get rid of him, isn't that a red flag to any other team?

Exactly, I dont want to lose any of these players. Its special to draft these players and see what they develop into, but exactly you have to give to get. Our pipeline at this point is stacked where if we lose them, we have players coming up not too far off

It’s not going to happen but if it does, the main equation is Brady’s wife. She’s from Jersey. Their wedding was in Jersey. This is why the rumor is heavy. Yeah, the Tkachuks and Fitzzgeralds are family, but that wasn’t enough to convince Matthew. Probably the same for Brady.

I remember that wedding it was all over social media, that was right before Matthew got traded to Florida. That was a hard trade to compete with what Florida gave up to get him.

The Devils are not getting Tkachuk. He cost to much & it would be a huge cap hit. And Ottawa isn't trading him, either. They aren't trading Nemec or Mercer. They are too important to the Devils. And if the Devils win the draft lottery this year, they're keeping that draft pick.

Ottawa is not restarting their rebuild. If they did there would be a full out fan revolt so Ottawa doesn't want picks. They need to make the playoffs or be majorly in the hunt for a wildcard to keep fans engaged. They've been too impatient after all these years. The only way they trade Brady is for roster players only and ones that completely help Ottawa now

Thats why I think either Mercer or Holtz and Nemec is the way they go. Theyre really good prospects and the Devils 1st in 2024 will be a solid pick too. My guess Brady stays with the Sens, but this is odd how his name is popping up again

Sorry, I am not giving a 1st, Mercer or Holtz, AND Nemec...Not even for Matthew. They want Casey? Fine. I feel like Devils will insist on Mercer since his contract will be larger than Holtz'. In the end, it is still a numbers game.

Let's see, Tkachuk is younger, much bigger and tougher, has been top 3 in the NHL for hits and shots on net the last 3 years. Has scored more goals than Bratt the last 3 years. If you were the GM for Ottawa, would you make that trade? Nope!

Don’t think it will happen but would be great to get him. Think the Devils should look at getting Trevor Zegras this offseason. 3C/move him up/down the lines as a wing. Imagine him playing the same line as Jack?

Seeing it going around, but when NHL analysts and media close around players are talking alot about Tkachuk being possibly traded then there's more to BS rumors. I still think he remains a Sen, but you never know

It’s an interesting hypothetical because this is exactly the kind of player the Devils desperately need. They are soft as marshmallows and every team in the NHL knows it. Fixing goaltending and defense will get done but it won’t matter if the Devils don’t deal with the elephant in the room.

Exactly and im sure Fitzgerald will definitely address Goaltending & Defense this offseason. This team has to get more physical because when it comes to late season play into the playoffs, where we want to be next season, that intensity & physical play ramps up.

The Devils need him and Fitz needs to make it happen. I think Nemec, Holtz, and the 1st in 24. Or Mercer , Casey and the 1st in 24. If they need to add another piece or two I don’t care, get Brady to NJ. Fitz cannot miss out on this.

I agree Michael, players like Brady don't grow on trees and he can be a player who can drastically change our lineup and finally give Hughes and Hischier the proper protection they need
