At 1:29, he’s not trying to laugh out loud. He’s disagreeing w Otto because Viserys initially wanted to fly himself to dragonstone to confront daemon, he wanted to come..until Otto convinced him that he should go. When daemon asks, Otto straight up lies and says he’d never entertain you. Lord commander was there both times and sees the liar for what he is.

Viserys cant fly to dragonstone he has no dragon. Only rhneyra ,daemon ,rhenys and laenor had dragons at the time.

Perhaps that was in case Daemon meant to speak in High Valyrian. Otto wants to be thoroughly equal with his foe to balance his chances. Since, you know, he lacks a high-pitched growling nuke

The action of Daemon removing his sword when Otto says the death of his wife and his unborn child it is a sign that he was going to be a protective father as we saw in the next episodes, Ottos face when they hear Caraxes, that man survived two encounters and could have perfecly gotten roasted, i may dislike him but he is brave, Daemon likes fighting with the Hightowers physically or verbally like he usually does with Otto

the problem is Daemon is alone and has no allies. If he started a war here, he would have to fight Syrax, Meleys, and probably Seasmoke.

@@TimberlakeTigerGirlsize isn't everything. Daemon is an experienced fighter and ruthless, Caraxes isn't a kitty either. So while Meleys is bigger, it's at least debatable which of the two would take victory. Given how the story ends, I'd put my money on Caraxes

No house or Lord in their right minds would dare mess with the Targs in their prime, especially while they had dragons. They literally united the realm and made the damn throne. This is why, in the very beginning of HOTD, Rhaenyra says the only thing to destroy House Targaryen is themselves. And that also happens when Viserys marries an outsider house like Hightower.

@grimmywizard Marrying an outsider isn't the problem itself. They had to occasionally in order to not be too incest friendly. The problem is Otto, and later with Tywin, scheming to take the throne without launching a full on coup. They worm their way in via getting their daughters to marry the King. Then have said daughters raise their sons to be more loyal to their mothers house while keeping their fathers last name.

That’s a very good question. Especially because at this point it was well known how strong their bond was as a dragon and rider. Daemon and Caraxes were so close they tended to operate as a single unit. I bet that Daemon knew the moment he got angry Caraxes would show up to the party all “yo wtf is this WHO ANGERED DAEMON?!”

@@GamingBeat1Doesnt matter. Aside from Caraxes and Meleys, all the other dragons are either too small, unclaimed or dead. And since Rheanys had no interest in fighting her blood family, that left Daemon as the one who had a huge advantage if he and Viserys actually decided to fight. Even Syrax and Rheanyra wouldn't be able to fight them.

I never understood this for the life of me. Otto has a brain and knows Daemon has a dragon. “You’d never survive this!” What? The dragon will literally kill him and his guards instantly. One of the few scenes that made no sense to me at all.

At this point in time there are only 2 or 3 dragons with riders that would be war ready. Caraxes, Cyrax, and maybe Sea Smoke. So Daemon probably coukd have won a war if he decided. Oh and Meleys!

I'm sorry, i just can't take Caracxes seriously with that weak, hissing, warbling shriek of his. His whole design is awesome, like a blood-red serpent given wings, but the 'roar' falls flat big time when compared to Dragons like Drogon or Vhagar.

@DarkWarden041 Well, the thing is that a creature like Caraxes, with its long neck and size, is actually screaming at a frequency so high we can't hear it. Animals could, and it would probably hurt like hell, but not Humans. What we are hearing (various clicks) are as high as we can hear before the sound becomes inaudible.

What's with the cringe title? It's not exactly outsmarting your opponent if you have a dragon to threaten them with, and even then it was pointless. Otto here is representing Viserys' will, and Viserys too had dragon riders he could send at Daemon if Daemon kept refusing to obey. So this gesture means nothing really.
