As an Alabama fan I agree with this. The Belichick/Saban/Smart system can certainly be out schemed and out coaches. Give Auburn a QB, and Missouri more depth, both Alabama and UGA have 2 regular season losses last year. Gonna miss Nick Saban but Deboer is a breath of fresh air. Thanks to NIL, no more East and west divisions, and Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC, Kirby Smart and UGA won’t be running anything. They’ll still be good but they won’t dominate like they’re thinking. I feel like it’s gonna be a rough time for UGA fans given their expectations they now have that Saban retired. They feel like we (Alabama) have always been a thorn in their side and now feel nobody stands in their way when I’m fact they’re had several close calls last year and Auburn, Missouri, and Texas proved that system is 100% beatable. Don’t fear UGA they’re just a lot of stuck up snobs on their high horse

Recruiting, off season adjustments, everything. Now that Nick is retired, we’ll see how well Kirby does on his own without his daddy to look to and see if he’s actually able to sustain success

I agree, it's possible we could lose those games. 0-3, I would say is highly unlikely. But it's not like we're saying that we're positively going undefeated. I do expect the crow will be significantly worse in this conference. But then again, a lot of people act like having to eat crow after losing to Kansas last year would be the worst. Even though Kansas wasn't the typical Kansas last season. We still choked that game despite them being significantly better than usual.

That may be. But is KD really going to win Bama multiple national championships or at least competing from them regularly? That's the point Sean is making. Bama fans (and I don't know if you're one) will expect that from KD eventually if he does good. As an OU fan, I'm not sleeping on the guy. He may make Bama a respectable team. But Saban set the bar way too high.

Nobody thinks that we are going to run the SEC, but most of us believe that competing for a conference title isn't out of the question. Look at the way we've recruited over the past three years, and you’ll see that we're stacking talent down the road. Defense kept us from winning several titles in the past 24 years, but BV is changing the culture in Norman to not just be exceptionally good on offense but defense as well. We will most definitely take some lumps this year, but we can also make a lot of noise in the first year. You can be Debbie Downer if you want, but the rest of us see the future.

But if that he was brought up in comparison with Brent, the program was in a completely different state when he came in, compared to where it was when Riley took over. I kinda agree about your Kansas point, but also need to define what we mean by "better". I know a lot of fans are optimistically predicting around 9-3.. From a win/loss standpoint, that's not "better" than last year. OU fans believe the defense will take another step up, and although our offense was statistically great last season, there were obvious problems to us. Offensive problems which caused us to struggle and lose those games last season that you mentioned. The run game wasn't to our standard, and we at least expect that to improve this season with our new OC. I could go on, but I've rambled too much already.

Are you saying that it's disrespectful to point out the truth that those other coaches haven't accomplished anything? Stating the same thing that basically all of the talking heads and SEC fans say about OU's coach? Both are true, by the way. OU is coming to compete with them all. Not lick their boots. We give out respect where it's due, but OU isn't taking a backseat to anyone. Especially to coaches who haven't accomplished anything. We're not putting them on a pedestal above us. We know the conference isn't going to be easy. But we're not going to be in bottom of that SEC pool.
