Mary John Kurishingal gets killed under circumstances, where her adopted sons arrive for her funeral from various places: Bilal John Kurishingal- a gangster, Eddy John kurishingal- a hotel owner, Murugan John Kurishingal - an action choreographer in film industry and Bijo- a student. The brothers take it upon themselves to unearth the mystery behind Mary's murder. Murugan is in love with Rimy, the daughter of Tommy Parekkadan, a happy-go-drunkard, who is against their relationship. Bilal starts meeting his old friends and contacts in the Kochi underworld to receive information about the killers.
They piece the evidence together and find out that the murder was committed by two professional assassins from Mumbai.Balaji Shakthivel, an upright ACP, along with CI George are put in charge of Mary's murder case, who begins the investigation, but cannot fetch any evidence to prove anything related. They soon find out that the murder was one of the many meticulously planned operations, aimed to check the teacher's intrusions into unlawful exporting of children from Kochi. The unlawful operations are actually handled by Mayor and his henchman, an underworld don called Sayippu Tony. Bilal and his brothers takes up arms to avenge the murder.

Big b is very hard film to understand for non mallus..the problem is in film they used a very localized Cochin slang with inner meaning and some have double meanings also..and some dialogues have references to bilal's past glory and incidents at that time and amal neerad always places important events, political scenarios, films and other cultural elements with his films..so its near impossible task to translate the exact dialogues in to another language or subtitle...also this one have poor subtitles .. For example after entering the colony he says that when you were a kid and were wearing half trouser n watching aadipaapam in ajantha i have done this scene and if you have any doubt ask your elder brothers.. Aadipapam was the first adult movie super hit in Malayalam industry and and ajantha was a theater which was famous for releasing b grade movies and bilal indirectly tells that he have much experience as of their age and don't mess with him.. Just like this every dialogue have inner meaning and it can't be conveyed in another language or cant fully understood for a non mallu since the film is too much rooted in Cochin culture..even though it was a scene by scene remake film it actually looks better than the original due to this.. And that's why amal and his films are being cerebrated even after years.. He also used the same aadippapm reference in bheeshama also.. Each and evry dialogues have more meaning and his voice modulation entirely different from all of his movies

This movie made in a different style when it released in theatre got a negative feedback moreover the movie had a clash release between Chotta Mumbai (mohanlal film April 7, 2007) that movie got a positive response from the first day and ran more than 100 days .. Big B released on April 14,2007 and have a special fan base, because of its making and dialogue

I'm sure you didn't enjoy it much because The enjoyment of this movie is the dialogues in it which is Kochi local slang in Kerala. Therefore, I don't think how much people in other languages can enjoy it, but the visuals and background music with direction in it can be enjoyed by people in other languages.😊
