Happy 20th Anniversary! I believe beeping when you leave the key in the car and close the door is a reminder to the driver that the keys are inside to prevent accidentally locking yourself out.

Happy anniversary! I keep waiting for Hoovie to pop up and criticize something. I have a 2010 G37 Convertible that I still enjoy driving with 47K miles (Garage kept). Shiny, melting and cracking dashes are normal for all the Gs after a few years of heat. Also, the Passenger Occupancy sensor will likely fail giving you a nice dash light to remind you it's not working and now off. This can be replaced with an override device under the seat that keeps it occupied and the air bag always on when the car is on. You will have to also unplug the passenger seat belt connector under the seat or one red light will be replaced with the seat belt light. You could also just plug in the passenger belt when not in use. Lastly, the oil gallery gaskets can fail which will drop your oil pressure and be an expensive repair. Luckily, the repair corrects the problem, but while you are in there, you might as well replace the timing chain, serpentine belt, and the water pump and any other worn items you may find. Since you have a sunroof, you should run a snake down the drain holes as they an easily get clogged and keep them clean. One preventative thing I did was remove the 10A fuse for the steering wheel lock while it was unlocked as this can fail on you leaving you stuck. It never happened to me, but it's a common failure and easy to put back if you change your mind (There is no engine light if you pull this fuse). I have no codes on mine except 2 codes about the fuse I removed. My G37 didn't come with security sockets so Infiniti may have phased that "feature" out. I hate them too.

Loved this one! Congrats on your anniversary! I have a 2006 G35 Coupe in the same colors with 112K miles. I'm the original owner. It is all stock. No cracked dash, everything is fine mechanically. Has always been garaged and has no paint fade. It has been a great, fun car. As for the key, if it is inside the car and it senses the door close, it will beep to alert you that you have left the key behind. It also will not let you lock the door with the door handle button if the key is inside the cabin. If you were to leave the key in the trunk, such as in the pocket of a jacket, when you close the trunk lid, it will automatically pop the trunk open. There is another security feature and it regards limiting access to the trunk. The key fob separates to reveal a physical key that opens the doors and locks the glove box. Retain that and just leave the larger part of the fob with a valet. Before locking the glove box, note that inside the glove box on the lefthand side is a black toggle switch. Move that to disable the truck release button that is to the left of the steering wheel. Then lock the glove box with the physical key. No one can then open the trunk with the button in the cabin. Also, if you ever hear a single soft beep that repeats every 15-20 seconds or so as you drive, that is an alert that the trunk lid is not fully closed. FYI, the small upper glove box is where the DVD-based nav system lives in a car so equipped. Enjoy the G35!

I love my 05 g35. One of best cars ever made. Easy to work on, reliable and the motor is a beast if you keep up with the maintenance. You can get 300,000 miles or more out of the motor.

After a long search, I bought a stock 2003 G35 Coupe with only 23k miles. It now has 25k miles. It is mint and super clean. I almost wish I had one with higher mileage. I am always afraid of it getting dinged or scratched. I don’t even let my kids ride in it.

It’s a reminder that the key is still inside the vehicle to prevent unintentional lockouts. There are also the black buttons on the surface of the exterior doors to lock / unlock the doors with the key in your pocket or within 3 feet when it detects it’s in range! Enjoy your car and kitten!

Happy Anniversary! You bought my car! I bought two new cars in 2003. A black C5 Z06 and a silver G35 Coupe. I still have the Coupe. Mine just turned 30K miles. It's bone stock and mint. No rips, tears, cracked dash, etc... I've also run Amsoil since the break in. I don't have the keyless entry. I actually have a key. Mine doesn't have the rear trunk button either. Funny thing. When I got the G35 people were literally falling out of the passenger window to get a look at it. This was crazy to me. I was almost invisible in the C5 Z06. Issues that I've had in twenty years of ownership: The passenger seat motor went out and both window motors went out. The LED third brake light went out. Another thing that went out was that Infiniti put too short of wire in the remote harness, so the wire broke and I had to crawl through the back seat to release the trunk. It didn't have a rear release, so entering through the trunk and releasing the emergency release was the only option. Everything was fixed under warranty and I haven't had any issues since. I've just done maintenance stuff. Oh... I did fix the trunk wore myself after they fixed it the first time. They just used a wire crimp and it broke again. I fixed it properly by adding wire so it didn't stretch and break opening and closing the trunk. One thing I don't like about the car is that the doors like to close on your leg when getting in, even on flat ground. It's kind of annoying. I also don't like that the seatbelt on the passenger side likes to bang against the door if no one is in the passenger seat. They fixed that on your car by adding a seatbelt guide to the top of the seat. Anyway... Congrats!

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Wizard! :) The beeping sounds like an anomaly to me. The car should not beep when the key fob is inside the car, regardless of whether the engine is running or not. And after Mrs. Wizard showed the dash, she said she was going to turn it off, and it sounded to me like she was turning off a physical key and removing it from an igntion slot, so it doesn't appear to have push-button start. However, if it DOES have push-button start, then something is wrong, because there are only 2 circumstances under which the car should beep at you: 1) If the engine is running, the key is OUTSIDE the car (e.g. you get out of the car for a minute and the key is in your pocket), and you close the door. The, the car will beep at you to remind you that the car is on but the key is outside the car. 2) You put the key fob inside the trunk and close it. When the car senses the key inside the trunk, it will beep at you and then pop the trunk open.

And we also met on AOL in a local chat room back in Jan of 2003. Now 20 years later I'm getting old at 44 and she still looks amazing at 39. But we were in that group of people to meet online as well. We were actually ashamed to tell people we met online at first for awhile because it was seen as so weird in those days. Now it seems like it's the almost the only way people meet. Crazy how much things have changed in 20 years.

Happy anniversary and I love the car, I love stock Infiniti G35/G37s. That cars are great as they came from the factory, fun to drive, sporty, decent reliability, especially compared to a BMW, and the V6 sounds good stock. Modified ones can be annoying sometimes.

Top Tip : I'm sure Wizard and Mrs. Wizard knew they were getting a kitten. Don't be tempted to give someone a present of a pet without agreeing with them beforehand. And rescue centres, if there's one close to you, always appreciate if you adopt a rescue kitty or other domestic animal. Actually, donating money there on someone's behalf is a great present if they are one of those people who have everything they want. You got a really great kitten Mrs. Wizard ! I'm sure you are very careful with that.. but should it come to happen, the car's system prevents it.
