So the War Pope is just the pope in times of war, but I think that if a war starts, the current normal pope doesn't become the war pope, he needs to retire at least temporarily so that the war pope can be selected. It's a new guy, War Pope is pope *only* in times of war. A peaceful pope can't be war pope and a War Pope can't know peace.
