Lookin back, I was such a weirdo. And not just for a short time.. Like from Junior, through middle, till High School, I was always the weird kid in class or break that just listened to his music somewhere alone on a bench or in a corner. Not because I didn't want to interact with people. But there really was no one around me, with whom I felt comfortable with. They were all high society and had things I couldn't relate to. And thinking back, it wasn't that bad, that it happened. Too much drama was going on at that time, and the friends I had, are still my friends now. Just a few, but loyal ones. And I LOVE AWKWARD SILENCE. IT'S THE BEST!! Just nobody saying nothing and just enjoying silence.. You have no idea how I loved those moments. Seriously.

Middle school through high school... College too. I think I just started to be less awkward.

I was really awkward in 8th grade. Then really awkward first year of college. Then my first year working at a big company in an office environment, I was the youngest person in the team by nearly 10 years and every time I spoke I felt like I sounded as teens sound like to me now. I am not sure awkwardness ever ends, that's okay though: embrace the awkward. It's part of why wongfu is awesome, you guys made awkwardness cute :D (Yay passive pandas!)

Great lunch break topic! :) Relatable, for sure. I was homeschooled, so not only did I have to deal with normal teenage awkwardness, but I had to deal with the whole "homeschoolers are awkward" stereotype. It was hard because peers and grown-ups were *expecting* me to be awkward and scrutinizing my personality/actions/etc to see if I was. Kinda frustrating...but yes, ultimately character-building. I agree with Taylor - just having confidence and accepting who you are is the key to growing out of the phase. Once you get there, people will like you for your personality, too.

You guys basically got me through mine which was basically grades 8-12. College really helped though maybe I'm still awkward but have found me two love me for it. Thank guys you really have no idea all the good you did for me in those few years.

Something that happens a lot lately in Middle School is other students judge you mostly on how you dress. For example, if you see a really "popular" student, they wear brand name things like Nike or Jordans or something. And when you see an "unpopular" student, they wear nothing special. Students lean to other kids that wear more expensive stuff now. I honestly don't get why that happens.

My awkward phase has never ceased to exist. I was so insecure, introverted and shy and i was bullied because of it all throughout my schooling. I did get to the point where i stopped caring like ashely but then of course i did the complete opposite and talked non-stop all the time trying to be someone I wasn't. I definitely agree with you guys that being "awkward" now along with being "depressed" has become a weird social trend. It's crazy how many time my friends are like, you're so awkward, but in a funny and good way, like zoeey Deschanel . Granted I am more confident but it's just weird how things have changed....

Middle school through 10th grade, and I got more out of my shell during 11th grade and participated throughout 12th grade. I just didn't know how to socially interact with my peers. I had a small group of friends and I was outgoing and talkative with them, but I clammed up when you added other peers that I normally didn't interact with outside of classes. I also feel like I had a bit of an awkward phase as an adult, but finding the running community I belong to has helped me come more outside of myself than ever and I feel more confident in my skin than I've ever felt.

Well...I was home schooled from kindergarten to college so I was probably more awkward than I knew, I was just surrounded by equally awkward people. I guess I'm still going through mine, I can interact and befriend people much older than me than I can my peers. Our life experience and priorities tend to be kind of different so it can make conversations weird. But I'm also really proud of the weird me. I got a onesie this weekend and wore it non stop so...I'd guess these last two years of college as I learn to control how much of the weird I let show has really helped with my awkwardness.

I've been watching other videos when a Wong Fu video had been out for 48 min?!? Alright, I'm joining the notification squad.

I think I've just never really cared that I was weird and loud and crazy ever since elementary school; because it made me stand out (and I've always sort of enjoyed attention) But that also meant I really didn't have many friends up until late high school era. I mean, I liked Japanese music and watched Japanese dramas while everyone else was watching/listening to Korean or Chinese or English; and then I was very vocal about my celebrity obsessions; and I really liked to sing no matter I was good at the song or not; and I'd do "socially unacceptable" things such as run up to people to say hi and like give them a big hug when they're in the middle of something; etc It was until the end of high school when I met a bunch of people who embraced my awkwardness that I began to truly appreciate it myself. Another factor that fed into my character is how disciplined I was with going to school; no matter I was sick or had appointments after or whatever. So there was this time when I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out on a Friday morning, but my Bio lab report was due that day. So after puking blood all over my bathroom (because my jaws were numb from the surgery and I couldn't feel it building up), I cleaned myself up and went to school just to hand my work in. According to my Bio TA, I didn't walk in a straight line. (and now this is a proud story I tell because I take pride in what I did -- I'm that awkward) And now I'm even more crazy and loud than I was in high school BECAUSE I CAN :D Even professors can't stop me hahahahaa. I mean, I even cosplayed a green haired character in a big dress to my college Neurobiology class once because I had a gig immediately after and didn't have time to change (and didn't want to miss class either).

Gosh each time I watch Lunch Break, I get super hungry because I apparently never eat before watching the video. Omgggg my tummy is grumbling.... slooooooowly dying of starvation. I'm always imagining what food I'm going to eat ---- during the weekends. -cries- If only food was delivered.

It's hard for me to remember my awkward stage/era because I usually owned it, and experimented with it. I was by no means good at dealing with it, at least on many occasions. But it didn't stop me from making the situation awkward. After a while though, I began learning how to work a conversation so I can avoid awkwardness and maximize any benefits.... only problem is I might as well be speaking a different language with how I choose my words and tones in my voice. What I have learned at an early age is that there's always a level 2 to find, so do my best to beat it and move forward.

I moved from an area of high diversity to a low diversity during end of middle school. Everyone had been friends since birth, so I never really fit in. I secluded myself from my classmates most of the time. I had friends, but they were never really close. Mostly because they were really out going while I was quieter. My last two years of HS was awful. My "friends" were very superficial and I cut all contact with anyone from my high school when I went to college. I specifically chose one that was not in that state and far enough where nobody in my school would go. I made friends in college really quickly and they became really really close that I lived with them all 4 years. So my awkward phases started at the end of middle school and ended when I went to college

My awkward phase was all of high school into early college. I would say that I'm kinda almost completely out of it, but like Tay I still have some awkward moments.

I think my awkward stage was about the same as Taylor's... Like 5th-10th or 11th. I honestly am STILL awkward, but I've learned to appreciate my awkward! I'm a big nerd, and though I once tried to hide or to deny it, I now own it. I watch my anime, play my video games, read my books, and wear my cosplays with pride and don't give a "hoot" [insert pic of owl here] what anyone thinks ^^ I went through a "goth/punk" phase my freshman year of high school and I think that may have been my most awkward year of life lol What I learned from my awkward phase is... well... as long as you're not hurting anyone, who cares what everyone else thinks? You will find people who appreciate you for who you are and those are the only people that will matter ^^ Also, Benson, the "Let It Go" Disney edit was awesomesauce ^^b or perhaps... awkwardsauce? no? okay I'll go now.

My awkward phase didn't start until my younger brother started going to my high school. He was automatically accepted into my group of friends and things got super complicated (will spare you the details). With new people too, I had serious trouble making new friends because I didn't know if they really wanted to be my friend or they were trying to get to him. Turns out it was the latter most of the time. SUPER FUN. Anyway, I was just super awkward socially afterwards. I would just get irritated with people easily and be super suspicious of them. Not a likable trait.

Middle school & high school, so awkward...for real. I'm 19, and just kinda came out of the awkward stage. Started college and was awkward but now it's been a few months and the end of college and I'm finally out of it and don't care lol 😄.

When I started to each lunch with one of my acquaintances our conversations were really awkward. We didn't know what to say so every time we met up I would ask questions. For example, if they liked trees because they are very very tall. Or I would be looking at Instagram and scream out of no where because I saw a cat. Good thing our awkwardness balances out each other now.

I'm in high school, In my awkward phases since middle school (I also end conversation). I get super awkward when talking to people I barley know it's like silence.
