I want to personally Thank YOU for sharing your family with the world...I'm a 53yr old woman that cried through this video wishing my step parent accepted me with such maturity & wisdom displayed within your family...and my bio parent not to join into a union with someone not accepting of your child...my life growing up has been so dysfunctional trying to do anything to please both parents to get some love & attention. When their children were born, I really was just a tolerated not blended or bonded...& to this day the oldest of 7 with a outside parent and all of them having the same parents, I'm the outsider...😔...may God continue to bless your wonderful family...I'm a new subscriber and enjoy the quality content ❤

My stepson never called me mom, I met his dad when he was 8, and he’s 30, he said he loved me 2 years ago, he has his wonderful mom and we have 2 granddaughters one is 2.5 and another is 2 months…I love him and his kids … I’m grandma 👏👍

Great subject being from a blended family myself one thing that helped us was not being called “step children.” My Paupau (grandfather) said “ain’t nobody stepping on nobody in this family” 🤣🤣. So that set a standard of respect all around. And everybody gave older sister and I to my Pops (stepdad) anyways because he made it known at all times that we were his daughters. He definitely made it known to my biological father ( deceased when I was 13) when he wouldn’t act right. My Pops showed us what a real man, husband and father is to be. And he set the bar high. I thank God daily for loving me enough to give my Pops to mother, sister and I. 🙏🏼❤️

Love this topic. I am a "bonus mom" in our blended family. For us it was important for all parties to respect each other . Our children were "our " children. We have been married 37 years and have raised our children as siblings. And I even call my husbands first wife my wife n law . It takes all parties to be mature.

My husband and I have a blended family. He had two boys and I had a girl. We never had a step family. It was our family and there was love. My daughter has always wanted a brother and she got two my sons were excited to have a sister they didn’t have any. They are grown now and have given us beautiful grandkids and great-grandkids. Thank you for sharing, I had a wonderful Step Mom growing up my Mom passed when I was 5 yrs old, My Dad remarried, ( 3 kids from the first marriage) I was the baby, My Dad and Step Mom went on to have 5 More kids my Step Mom brought one daughter into the marriage, we were never treated any different, I love my Step Mom, some outside family member treated us different when my parent passed away, (4 days within each other) . My sibling the younger one never Knew we had different Moms, My biological Mom's mother (my grandmother) treated all of us the same. we were all her grandkids. So again thanks for sharing.

My ex remarried and his wife treats my 3 grown daughters like crap; my kids were teenagers when they got together, now two of them are married and have kids of their own. I am the baby and I had 2 moms and 2 dads! Everybody were focused on us (the children)! People could not tell who were the "Steps" and were in disbelief when we pointed out we were a blended family. Even thought we switch homes as children per their agreements, but it was a mama and daddy in each home.

What a great family, the love and respect shines thru. Had to laugh about the cheese doodles, omg I went thru the same thing with my kids that are half siblings!! When they would split a piece of candy, I would say the other child got to pick the piece from the one holding it. Trust me they was always the same size then lol

Thanks for sharing this! What's interesting is I kept thinking Ms. Donna reminds me of my Step-Mother. I am a product of the blended family and I can totally relate to what the kids were saying. The thing that bothered me the most was separation from my Mom to go to Dad's house and then separation from Dad going back to Mom. Other than that, it wasn't a really bad experience but the best thing was when the grandchildren came!!!!! We all have family gatherings and My Mom and Step-Mom call each other sister and My Step-Dad and real Dad get along and watch sports together!!!! I am truly blessed!

I did not have to go through a blended family. My sister, brother and I had the same biological parents. However, we still had to deal with the oldest down to the youngest child. We SURVIVED our sibling differences. I'm the only one left. I miss them all and I look at our family albums, which gives me some peace of mind. I see nothing wrong with blended families. It just more love to go around. Growing up in I seen many households back home in Detroit. There was lots and lots of blended families. But some of us never knew or talked about it. Nobody was treated differently it was all about LOVE! I have a friend girl and the couple have one child he have 7. It was her first an his second marriage. Right to this day almost 30 yrs their still together with many grandbabies..

I just watched this video and I have to say that this is how it should be! Love and communication equals a true family blended biological or otherwise! The grace that is on your family is so beautiful. This confirms that when God is in it, nothing can come between you. I wish I could've had that kind of relationship with my step mother and family. This is my 1st time seeing this. This was a wonderful way to encourage families dealing with being blended. Dude #1 said it best don’t allow kids to come between your relationship. I’m glad I set things straight from the beginning… my son had a hard time sharing me. My husband’s son excepted my from day 1. But it’s been 18 years together 13 married and we all get along so well. I also had myself a blended family with a middle child and I just want to put out there to the parents your middle child will always be your middle child and they never quit needing that acknowledgment of being special in some way to you. Like when he was letting you know his feelings, I think he still might have been looking for some special acknowledgment of who he was to you or who he is to you. Just putting that out there. I loved so many aspects of this video. I Loved how the husband led and guided the conversation, it shows the true dynamics of why this family is so successful. The husband is the head, the leader. I loved how the wife didn’t cut her husband off and how much he respected his wife’s input. I loved John’ta’s input, he has so much wisdom, these children are true reflection of their upbringing. My family encountered a similar situation years ago within our family except we weren't blended in the same way. We had different dads but the same mom. Being the eldest child I would often feel sort of "left out" and/or alone....
