Things look good Greg, losing one always sucks. But we don't live in a perfect world.... just keep on going, that's all we can do

No need to apologize bud. All these new generation snowflakes should see what you cattlemen go through to put the beef in our grocery stores. Appreciate you sharing 🇺🇸

Pen clean out must be the trending project lately lol i just did a bunch of that yesterday as well, still got more to do. This warmer weather sure is welcome. Sorry to see the aborted calf, always a shitty deal. Take care sir.

So sorry for your loss. Farming definitely is the continual battle to overcome challenges and loss. If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning to do on the ground your feeding the cows on now? Thank-you!
@DiamondHeartRanch Жыл бұрын
Thanks and the ground I’m feeding on is pasture. I try to scrape up as much as I can, the rest is fertilizer for the grass.

@DiamondHeartRanch Thanks for sharing that. I'm currently feeding on a hay field that would preferably want to crop again this year, but was unsure if feeding would kill the seeding. We have lots of snow, so there is a barrier between the field and the manure. So, scrapping excess manure early in spring doesn't hurt the hay crop too much?
@DiamondHeartRanch Жыл бұрын
@@kellydorney3514 I wouldn’t think it will hurt your hay crop as long as your not digging up sod. I know people who spread their manure on hay ground say it works great.

Unfortunately, it happens.... If we get a little white mold in the hay, usually caused for getting damp in the stack. Third trimester, it will abort calves. I've heard it can happen in silage too, but we've never fed silage. We did make round haulage bales years ago, had to feed it before the third trimester. Or we would have issues.. but some had white mold in it. Push the snow to the dugouts.. lol

I’ve had stillbirths, but never an aborted calf. It sure stinks. Sorry!

Hi Greg! Will you use the manure spreader to haul all that snow out?❄️
@DiamondHeartRanch Жыл бұрын
I did think of that but we’ll see how it works to bucket it out…if it holds together

That's a shame....this early in the season....hopefully that's it....what do you have to do for the mom....?...( you need to dig a hole to put all that snow in...🥴)
