Yekaterinburg, Russia - After 14 hours and two time zone changes on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Kazan, we arrive in the bustling metropolis of Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Yekaterinburg is the fourth-largest city in Russia, one of the most important economic centers in the country, and nicknamed the “window to Asia” as it straddles the continents of Europe and Asia.
This is where we cross into the Asian side of Russia on the Trans-Siberian railroad, as we head into the Ural Mountains.
On this leg of the journey, our local connect is a team of professional off-road drivers, and our mission is to venture deep into the Ural Mountains. The Urals are a long and narrow mountain range cutting through Russia from north to south, and mark the western edge of Siberia. Camping in the Ural Mountains of Siberia outside of Yekaterinburg, Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway was a highlight of the trip!

***PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING*** Let me be very clear, this isn’t Russia, not completely. Everything you’ve seen in this video - the alcohol, guns, banya and backwoods, are only one very small aspect of Russian culture. I understand, These are often the loudest stereotypes of this massive country, but my goal in this video was to show you the real people behind the cliches. We had an amazing 48 hours with this crew, doing the same things I’d do back home camping with friends. To put all Russian people and culture into this weekend would be completely wrong, and hopefully the variety of videos I make for this series will show you new perspectives, because that is ultimately the point of this channel - to open your mind (and mine) to foreign places and to inspire you to travel deeper. If you liked the video, I would love to hear from you - come say hi on IG - instagram.com/tourist2townie/

Friend, if you want to travel to Russia, you should get a visa in Russian embassy in Houston and a hand - written invitation from any of Russian citizens.

Greetings from Yekaterinburg =))) It's a pity the city and its panoramas were not shown. By the way, not all Russians drink alcohol, we have a lot of “teetotalers,” but everyone should visit nature and the Russian bathhouse! For Russians, a bathhouse is not only a health benefit, but also a tradition. In each district of the city there is at least 1 public bathhouse for 200+ people, which is supported by the government. And if the Russian has a cottage (a house in nature), then there must be a small bathhouse for 1-4 people. In our Urals, river rafting from 3 to 14 days is still popular. It is a pity the guys had little time. From Russia with love. Hugs.

The Northern Urals , Chukotka , Taimyr , Eastern Siberia - but that 's another story , it 's for real travelers . And it requires cooperation with Russian expeditions going there , joint preparation and planning .

This is Heartland )) I think Russian guys tried to show Americans a dense version of stereotypes about our country: Russia's nature and wilderness, balalayka, banya, voldka, guns and shooting, eating, mountain climbing... just in 48 hours. I wonder why they haven't shown a bear? Mistake... At least one bear is a must ))
