Yelan reaching out to Xiao once she realizes what he's doing makes me cry every time

I find the dynamics of Xiao and Yelan interesting after learning about both of them. Both suffer from very deep survivor’s guilt, but their mindsets are so different. Yelan doesn’t want to lose someone she cares about to self sacrifice, while Xiao is so broken & selfless that he wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice himself to save the people he cares about. The dichotomy is honestly really interesting to think about. Yanfei was right tho. *I guess salvation really can be a burden.*

while doing this quest, i genuinely felt the dread of the characters and how they were trapped. i have some claustrophobia and the fear of getting trapped in a cave or similar. plus their situation is somewhat similar to real life; people get trapped in caves with no food. calling for help is useless, you've only your wits about you, and your most plausible choice is to go deeper into the cave, getting lost and never be found. without itto, the quest woulda been a lot more darker. his appearance seems random but i'm glad they put him in the scene. he can brighten up the room fr

My heart dropped when Xiao got everyone out. I thought he legit was gonna die, I was panicking inside. And then when the yaksha cutscene played, that's when I just broke to tears

"Was I at the Chasm," Zhongli sarcastically questioned while throwing the Archaic Stone that he found in a specific area that he questioned ever going to.

The ending scene with the traveler and xiao 🥺 it was a moment big character development in this quest

Here some contexts to added because some word/manners can't properly translated : 1. There's difference manner words used by Yelan here, the afterall quest, Yelan using the straightforward manner to everyone, including xiao. and the rest using respect manners to Xiao (reflected more on 1:38:49) but on 2:31:54 Yelan still straightforward, not so formal but more softer and understanding. I didn't expect this entire quest show how serious Yelan is, compared from her girlboss demo, I thought she was Yae Miko-Liyue version. Flirty, bossy, sly, kinda narcissistic. But from here, we can conclude that Yae personality was born. But Yelan got that because she need to be, she learnt that personality because of her life experience. (and this confirmed at the end of her story quest by Uncle Tian) AND WHY I KNOW YELAN BACKSTORY MORE ON THIS QUEST COMPARED ON HER STORY QUEST. But I can do some spy work together so that's okay☺HATE YOU HOYOVERSE but still.. thank you 2. Xiao really getting softer after getting out of the chasm. When I say soft, I mean soft SOFT. There's so many emotion processing after the quest and no defensive or attack manners-used-word. The English team were really impressive enough to translating his changed personality but again, some word can't be really translated well, so there's some self-reflective meaning words missed out. 3. 2:51:36 Xiao mention that the traveler is a witness. The word witness here is THE SAME used by Zhongli on his 1st quest. On that quest, Zhongli using the word witness to imply that he live his life too long, slowly become the only one witnessing his friends life and deed without him realizing. And no one will be remember his friends + he himself. But now traveler can become his "witness". To carry and remember him on every journey. The same condition apply to Xiao and his word. It's nice to know there's someone will remember you, right? 4. Bosacius name in CN is Fu She 浮舍. Fu as life, refer to 浮生一刹 (fusheng yi cha) means life passes like a split second. She as sacrifice, refer to 万般皆舍 (wan ban jie she) means all can be sacrificed. Xiao describing him always introduce his name as a way (implying) of bragging/arrogant, hoyoverse purposely make the word misunderstood. But at the last cutscene, Bosacius says: 我叫浮舍，意为-- *浮*生一刹, 万般皆*舍* my name is Fu She, life is but a moment, nothing is eternal, all can be sacrificed Revealing that he is a humble yaksha. And him always saying his name it's not a way of bragging, but he's proud of his name and (realizing that he is) capable of living it. EDIT : 5. I forgot to mention the cutscene when Xiao asking permission to leave, the way Xiao asking permission it's not asking, but more like I hope you understand my decision and I know this path is dangerous so I can't guarantee if I could came back to my daily duty. That's why Zhongli doesn't give any responses/getting cut at that part. despite him being Zhongli now, Xiao manner still addressing him as Rex Lapis Notes : I'm not native speaker, so I'm sorry for some words that may sound offending.

when Yelan reached out to Xiao the second she realized what he was doing was honestly the best emotion I've seen this game put out. 10/10

been obsessed watching gameplays of different streamers on this quest so i'm happy its uploaded here :D

There is something i really love about this game and its the fact that the characters -and the history itself- doesnt paint the ''death'' as the worst destiny for one person, they constantly talk about something even more terrifying and melancholic: Erosion. Being forgotten, forgetting who you are, forgetting who people are and slowly leaving memories behind is way more tragic that people like Archons or Adeptus has to face up while the time flies. The deepest dialog in Genshin -in my opinion- comes from Zhongli: "Moments like these make me realize that the memories i carry feel more like a curse than a bleesing, i'm beginning to wonder if there will come a time when my memory will begin to fade. What will happpen when the day comes that no one is left to remember? What will happen when the day comes that even i begin to forget?" And i think thats really beutiful

This is honestly my favorite archon quest. It's just so good in every way. They rly stepped their game up with this one. This makes me both excited and scared for sumeru... I wonder if they can keep up the quality

Hear me out, y know how the yakshas find solitude in knowing even in death they'll live on in their friends memories, Xiao is holding onto all of his friends memories and heroic acts but my first thought was who's there for Xiao. Basically maybe the reason why zhongli told Xiao that we're a witness was because in a way he wanted to give Xiao what Xiao was to the other yakshas in the form of us, the traveller. Anyways I'll go continue crying even tho the quest is like 2 weeks old now

finally some Xiao content/character development ! they should really give us more about him, his character is amazing and not many people appreciate him as much as he deserves. edit: also, it feels like people aren't really giving Xiao enough recognition for all he's done this quest (well, or in general) or just completely ignore him tho. this is frustrating and I'm confused..

Love how Xiao disagreed to meet with Yanfei but when she told hm that Lumine was in trouble, he literally agreed so quickly- Honestly Xiao and Lumine are adorable, as Xiao said ''Even the darkest of hearts have room for those they cherish'' which indirectly means Lumine and the Adepti(Including Morax). Like he respects Lumine so much which is just.. cute. 2:30:28 In this part right here, Xiao is seen taking one last glance at Lumine, as he thought he was going to die. And Lumine was the first one whom Xiao made a protective layer against. Just wow. I love the two of them so much your honor.

It was so hilarious how Xiao glitched and stood up when he is supposed to be sleeping and sitting on the ground

I know it's annoying that the Zhongli epilogue quest wasn't voiced, but ngl I'd rather have more unvoiced world quests run by playable characters than only hearing and seeing them in main quests. A fun way to get more character moments more quickly, as cool as it would be to hear the VAs.

this quest was so good, i loved the music and the cutscenes one thing i wish they had done differently is the fight between Xiao and Bosacius, Xiao literally had *visible wounds* on him and then you fight this opponent who sounds incredibly strong and dangerous and it's just a couple of random floating hands, like, they literally just give you trial Xiao to dodge...

I like the fact that you and Bwaap posted you Perilous Trail playthrough at the same time

Amazing story quest though....the cutscene where they escape from that inescapable underground looked great. The wait for 2.7 was definitely worth it

This quest reminds me of the original Twilight Zone episode “Five Characters in Search of an Exit”. The similarities were there; five people being stuck in a unfamiliar place, no clear exit, the phenomenon of not being hungry or getting fatigue, and the dread setting in over time. It’s possible that the devs have gotten inspiration from said episode for this quest. Either way, this quest was incredible. The interactions, the subtle hints of the characters’ mental states, the comedic relief from Itto, the sad reality of Xiao and his group’s existence. It’s got it all for a dark adventure.

I loved this quest so much, and felt Xiao’s character development so deeply, that I just got inspired and triple crowned him. He deserves it. I love him dearly, what a great character.

I am SOOOO curious as to what the traveller's scene from the elevator rising up means, where they feel a pull from the chaotic space/maybe the abyss? Like, the screen did that chromatic aberration thing it did when the shogun's mightiness made us all dizzy? And it like, called to us??? Traveller gets sucked into the abyss arc when

Idk why but immediately after seeing Yelan for the first time my thoughts were if Rosaria and Yelan met they would butt heads a lot if they met given there characteristics.

I love everything about this Archon Quest the instant panic and relief I felt when Xiao was falling and a familiar Geo Icon and Powers reached into the darkness AHH-- Ngl this was probably the good time for Traveler to have at least spoken Xiao's name together with Paimon or in place of Paimon-- I bit disappointed to be honest that Traveler only speaks when it's about their twin nonetheless I LOVE THE STORY AND LORE SO MUCH.

Remember Ei's second story quest? When she said that 500 years ago Inazuma was engulfed in darkness, when monsters of the abyss attacked (including rifthounds) and where Kitsune died--that was probably the same time Yelan was and Xiao was talking about. Which leads us to question, did the archons destroy khaenri'ah because they attacked all nations of teyvat? Or did celestia attack khaenriah first, then khaenriah attacked all nations in return (because their deities are part of celestia), then the archons had to destroy khaenriah for retaliating? I like how this quest is opening another side of what happened 500 years ago--it's not as simple as someone attacked and another retaliated. Idk, these are just my thoughts haha

There's a theory where Paimon is connected to the GOD of TIME. It might be the reason why Paimon was greatly affected by the disruption of TIME and SPACE during the quest.

Watching this again, Bosacious was calling Xiao’s name in his final hours, that must have been hard for Xiao to witness. I’m also realizing that Yelan defiantly noticed Zhongli and tried to chase after him, I didn’t catch the obvious signs until when she said she thought that someone helped them. It’s also interesting, after we do see Zhongli, that he wasn’t expecting Xiao to tell us about being saved by him. He pretended that he wasn’t even there. I mean, Xiao hasn’t told anyone else about it, and also I remember it was super hard to even talk to him without almond tofu. We went from having to search for him, to him showing up when we call, and then now he waits for us and invited us to go with him. Geo dad just doesn’t want to lose Xiao, who has been showing so much improvement. Although maybe Xiao was ready to die, Zhongli doesn’t seem to believe it’s his time yet. “Every journey has its final day, don’t rush.” Plus, he gets someone to share the memories, right? (Also, thank you so much for sharing your insights on other people doing favors for people and the feeling of being burdened, it was very wise words.)

I didn’t notice it earlier but the vision holders are not restricted to a single weapon type . In this quest both yelan and xiao used used the catalyst of yelan’s clan (In the lore , zhongli evidently made/used many other weapons too).

Words can't describe how much this quest means to me. Been going through stuff recently because I can't talk to the closest person in my life anymore... And hearing Xiao say that this was the last time he could see Bosacius. Bruh I'm in tears. And unlearning that you're not a burden and you can let others in and share your life with them is 😭 aaaaah Xiao

I love Dish!! The most wholesome strimmer! Also, this questline was one of my favorites. The cutscenes were some of the best and plenty of cool interactions with a bunch of characters. It also hits right in the feels... I think it was definitely worth the wait!

This is the most beautiful archon quest ever imo, the story is very good and i like how they introduced us to the other yakshas, i almost cried at the cut scene it was so beautiful plus, i love yelan's personality, one of my fave characters so far...

This quest genuinely made me cry. Seeing Xiao want to give up so easily. I can understand why, but it is horrible that it came to that. And the memories of the other yakshas? Traumatizing, to say the least.

I wasn't sure about it, but now I can confirm: no matter, how many times I watch those cutscenes, I will always bawl my eyes out. ALWAYS.

In regards to the pacing issues, it's actually better when playing in Chinese audio. The timings are a bit off in dubbing due to language differences

This has been my favorite quest in the entire game honestly. The tension between two completely opposite characters (free willed Itto, and the strict and sharp Yelan) and also the tension between Yelan and Xiao. Then there was brilliantly done humor, like when Itto punched the door that had a device to open it right next to it, with the rest of the crew smirking and clapping. The characters who were at first very distant and prickly towards eachother, slowly getting closer in the event of danger and turmoil. The cutscenes were also very beautifully done. Xiao is my favorite character as well, so watching him fall and get saved by Zhongli hit me so hard and I cried for the first time ever in my almost 2 years of playing genshin. Xiao finally getting some closure and opening up a little more to the idea of interacting with other mortal friends was also very heartwarming for me. Definitely one of the best quests in Genshin to date, hands down.

Really looking forward to watching this. I loved playing through it the Chasm is easily one of my favorite areas in all of Genshin now. Especially that music and battle theme ooo my

5:27 I've been thinking that too since itto's gang got revealed in his trailer. the rest of the gang are just too npc-looking and could've been more unique too tbh. maybe not "unique" like having important/playable characters designs but they could at least stand out more than the typical inazuman male npcs considering they were kicked out(or something) during the recent iradori festival because of their unusual attires. imo those generic inazuman clothes and hairstyles could stay but besides their arataki gang hat, they could also have itto's obi around their waists as well as some red line tattoos on their face and bodies just like their boss. those would've been more than enough to make them stand out from the crowd than just their little hats.

when u talked about how we shouldn’t feel guilty when someone does something for us it really hits home for me especially since I have friends who are like that and it makes me kind of sad seeing them do that cause it kind of ruins the initial joy I had while helping them so seeing u mentioned it was really heartwarming and it made me feel a sense of comfort thank you dish :) ❤️

Don't know if anyone will see this. But I wanted to add some outside game context that gives some interesting perspective on everything that happened in the Event, although this is all theories and conjecture on my end of course, I still think there's something solid there: Yelan mentioned a specific branch of 'magic' for her ancestor, and thus her clan (and thus also herself): "Thaumaturgy". I think this plays into a lot of what's going on in this event, especially with all the mention of 'Miracles'. 'It's a miracle we found the compass', 'This place responds to our imagination. Terrifying, but also a miracle', etc. Thaumaturgy as a form of magic is about.. you guessed it: 'Miracles'. Although I think there is some greater ancient force at play here too, for this impossible labyrinth that seeks to consume those inside it, I think a lot of the 'sci-fi' sounding talk of 'space time', 'physical condition being suspended in time', 'intersecting spaces', it's all related to some magic influence left over from the 'Compass', it is the magic of 'miracle working'. If you think about it, everything that happens in here can be seen in the light of 'miracles', impossible things happening, events lost to time 500 years ago somehow replaying again in front of you, somehow breaking through and meeting up with Xiao, even the soldiers winning against the monsters 500 years ago, etc, all could be considered 'miracles'. In fact, if you think about it, this even plays into Yelan's design of being tied with 'dice' and 'chance', she is a 'thaumaturge', she deals in miracles, overcoming insurmountable odds. I think it all ties back to this concept of 'thaumaturgy'. In fact, even the nature of the device 'The Fantastic Compass', I think has some ties into lore about 'Thaumaturgy'. Let me just quote some stuff about one of the oldest books talking about the concept of 'thaumaturgy' (from 1570 to be exact), taken from the Wikipedia article, and see if some things sound familiar: _[A]n "art mathematical" called "thaumaturgy... which giveth certain order to make strange works, of the sense to be perceived and of men greatly to be wondered at"_ _In Dee's (Author of the book) time, "the Mathematicks" referred not merely to the abstract computations associated with the term today, but to physical mechanical devices which employed mathematical principles in their design. These devices [...] were seen by unsophisticated people as magical devices which could only have been made with the aid of demons and devils_ Think I'm making a bit of a stretch? Maybe. But think about it in comparison to the game, although it is called a 'catalyst' by Yelan, and it is clearly magical, the 'Compass' is obviously mechanical in nature too. So we have a branch of 'magic' where as a 'catalyst' for magic the used a mechanical device (obviously involving maths in its creation), and this device performs what can only be described as 'acts of miracle', twice (sealing the labyrinth and stopping the monsters 500 years ago, and getting you all out of there now). I personally genuinely believe that Mihoy did some research into Thaumaturgy, and used it as the base for the lore around Yelan's background, and the 'fantastic compass'. I mean, again, tying it into Yelan, mathematics also play a role in 'statistics', games of chance'. I also don't think it's coincidental that the domains in this event all employed so much orientation and rotation of geometrical shapes in space, and also orientating in time, concepts often common in maths. Now, beyond this point from Dee's days about maths, 'thaumaturgy' is also a magical art deeply rooted in religion and belief. There may be no 'Christian God' in Teyvat, but it is a highly religious place with many different Gods and beliefs. It's not at all a stretch to think that this clan of thaumaturges that Yelan comes from, did not serve their own God that we are yet to learn about, some sort of God of 'miracles'. Idk, I could be completely off base here, but there's definitely something there, and I have no doubt that 'thaumaturgy' and the concept of 'miracle working', plays into the events of this quest. There's no way they specifically brought up that term, and talked so much about 'miracles', just randomly. I'm interested to hear what others think though. I think there's a lot more to read into with this event. *Tl;dr* Yelan mentions 'thaumaturgy' in the quest, this is a branch of 'sourcery' known as 'miracle working', a magic focused on 'miracles', impossible things occurring against all odds. I think everything that happens in this event, can be traced back to this concept of 'thaumaturgy'. They even mention occurrences being 'a miracle' a number of times in the dialogue. It's a miracle you managed to meet up with Xiao, it's a miracle you found the compass, it's a miracle that these events 500 years lost to the past are somehow appearing before you in form of illusions and memories. I think it's all residual magic from the 'Fantastic Compass', something referred to as a 'catalyst' for magic by Yelan, from her clan of 'thaumaturges'. I believe this new category of magic we're seeing in Teyvat lore is the overarching theme of this quest.

Bro I've cried twice now at the electro yashkas scene. Having many many siblings myself, the fact that he truly believed he was with his family in his last moments rlly got me. He and the human were alone, the yaksha finally remembered who he was and the sacrifice he made and then panning to the world above and it's completely calm and quiet while they're going through hell hurts more. And the fact that no one knew exactly the sacrifice they made or their names even, just :(. He remembers his brothers and sisters but the first scenes we see are them either killing each other or going through extreme karmic pain that ended up killing one of them, so I wonder is bosacius remembered that part of his history too, I kind of hope not

Bro when i had heard nightgown softly in the background i genuinely had thought they were giving xiao the himeko moment, and i panicked so hard when i did this quest

actually this space is something similar with Ei and shogun's space where they fought, where time was also warped in there and Ei fought for 500 years in there.

They are not mean for no reason, they are mean and become sensitive because of the depth of the chasm makes them behave like that but Shinobu and Yanfei is the most calm there. Luckily they not ended up like Bosacius that losing control and senile because Bocasius has been there for a much longer time. That's why Xiao urge us to go back as soon as possible

I haven't made it this far into the game yet but after watching about 1 hour and 21 minutes of this, I'm soo looking forward to doing this quest because Xiao is my absolute favourite character in this entire game!
