As I age and watch content creators, I realize that contentment is so important in life. The amount of moves and must haves, I ask, when is it ever enough? Best wishes on whatever you decide. 💖

Kids grow up WAY too fast! We regret many weekends we spent working on our house rather than savoring every moment of family time. Your home is fantastic, you’ve put so much of yourselves in it & this next phase of parenting is a BUSY, crazy, fun one that passes too quickly. Encouraging you to enjoy a season of stillness in your home with those sweet girls. Ours just turned 21 & graduates from college next week - I swear she was just in preschool! 🥰

Yes when both parents work a full time job, like they do with remodeling and content creation, it definitely takes them away from time spent parenting. It's important they don't just do this for fun but it's actually a chosen career. :)

Oh I feel this! During our kids' childhoods, we undertook moving twice, finishing the basement, adding an addition, and a partial kitchen reno. While it wasn't as time consuming as some other projects, you're right - it goes by sooooo fast! Now that they're both grown, we're going to take on some bigger projects that I'm happy we waited on til our kiddos were out of the house. There's a season for everything including a time to be still.

Moving for the sake of moving every two or so years? I agree with another poster's comment about 'contentment'. Without contentment, you will always be looking over your shoulder because someone else will always have a better house, boat or better-looking spouse. Always worth thinking about your kids and what this programmes in them.
@timinerie3 ай бұрын
Agreed! What mentality does this create in the eyes of their kids. “We always need more”, “I need more to be happy”. Just admit it’s not a “dream home” and say it’s to leverage more subscribers. With that said, you have amazing design skills and talent.
@denisevalentemcgee48023 ай бұрын
There are people who love the challenge whether that means moving every two years, or dumping a business and restarting another, etc. It's the thrill of the hunt. It's not so much about contentment but more about being bored and needing/wanting the challenge. There are people I have met in my life that do this all the time. They will buy a home, fix it up beautifully and then sell it. They make. a ton of money doing it and their kids are fine with having a new room every couple of years. That wouldn't be the way I would want to live but it's not up to me to judge it. As long as I don't pay their bills, they can do what they want and it is not my business to call them out or tell them how to parent their children.

They make lots of money from these moves, but yeah, I agree with you.

As a daughter of a designer who flipped houses, it was not easy growing up and moving so many times. It seems your children are so happy in your beautiful home that fits your family perfectly. Also, in regards to having Hashimotos myself- I don't do well living next to water as I do now. Winters are colder. I think your health will benefit more living in your current digs. Just a hunch.

Moves can be hard on kids. Every few years going to a new school and having to find a new set of friends can be daunting. That needs to be considered, and I’m sure they will, but it’s about more than just having new content to film.

A home on the water is not the way to go - mosquitoes, flooding, etc. And the two of you need to appreciate what you have and stop grasping for MORE.. Focus on your family and an attitude of gratitude would serve you well. A family that is calm, caring and free of chaos is priceless.

This was so neat, to feel like we’re all experiencing this along with you!! But as I was watching, I felt so heavy, my heart ached. And then, when Chris said he felt heavy as you walked through, I was just mind blown. It’s a gorgeous house, and a dream location, but the Modern Colonial feels like your home. I hope that makes sense. I’m sure you could make The House on the Lake feel like your home as well, but there was just something that felt, stressful or, maybe overwhelming is a better word, about that house. And when I watched your 2024 House Tour, I felt at peace watching you walk through it. As in, I could feel YOUR peace. That’s maybe a weird thing, and I may be in the minority here, but I love that you called it “the house that didn’t get away,” and are thinking you’ll stay in the MC. I know you don’t need any validation or need my two cents, but I just thought it was cool that I had the same exact feeling Chris and you both mentioned. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Oh, and I am really enjoying your vlogs on KZfaq! It’s such cool bonus content, like your own tv show. I started following you at the same time as I started pursuing my doctorate. At that time, I bought a house that I thought would be easy to renovate. unfortunately, we got scammed and we were deceived and I was unable to focus on my home and my doctorate, so I decided to stop the renovation project in order to finish the thesis. by the end of this month, in three weeks from now, I will defend my dissertation. I spent 4 years waiting for the time I can resume my dream home reno. I lived with your videos and photos on KZfaq and Instagram for long nights, reading about phenomenology and philosophy and peeking at your videos and photos. I was in love with the Black House very much and was sad when you left it, but I also enjoyed all the details you shared in this house, especially the pool and backyard. I learned a lot from you and gained useful ideas. I will implement a number of them later when I resume work on renovating my home. Although I am sad that it will be sold, but I feel that this coincidence between your decision and the completion of my doctoral thesis is iconic, as if I was on a journey with your family. You can rehab it without disrupting your life and then rent it when not in use? You surely can easily market it w the following you have and others could really enjoy it too, while having a respite space. We do this, but sadly our lake house (hunting shack) is over 1,000 miles away for where we live now so really hard to rehab, especially w five young kids. Maybe pick one just far enough away ❤

We walked into the main foyer and when I first saw the original floors of dark green and white marble tiles I knew I was home. Our dreams can be attainable. We even drove the exact same Jeep Wagoneer, same color. We only live this life once on this earth. The years pass by quickly. Dreams do come true just believe in your feeling.
