I feel like you guys should put a "total distance cycled" counter on the screen the next time (if there is a next time), because I feel like there were lots of people dropping in midway that had no idea of the effort you had already put in and/or still had to put in. There may have been many people that dropped in via a raid thinking "Oh they're just cycling 80km in japan", when in reality you were cycling the equivalent of going from denmark to italy

I was in chat almost the entire last day of the Cyclothon and it was crazy. There was some big donation in the morning. And then, at one point, someone said "chat, if everyone one us put 7$ , we can reach 1 million" and the donations just exploded and didn't stop for the remaining of the day! it's was crazy magical! Congratulations again for this amazing event !!

I didn't have any money to donate so I watched every night on Twitch in the hopes it would help. It was a truly awesome thing to behold

Tuning in everyday definitely helped! As Connor said, watching live, the vods, and clips l, not only helps with the algorithm recommending it to other people, it also helps monetarily speaking, as the earnings are what they use to finance big events like these, so thank you!

I'm glad the Cycle Across Japan went as well as it did. I couldn't watch any of the streams due to my work schedule, but the VODs I've watched were pretty good. Cycling is nice in Japan, I'd say. I rented an average 3-gear bike in Kyoto and went a bit north of the city (to the Sanzen-in temple 三千院) during the midday heat and managed to get to Fushimi Inari Taisha before dark. The city is surrounded by hills and I was absolutely cooked when I returned the bike - I'll definitely look into an E-bike next time 😅

Congrats on raising the million for charity and the epic bike ride! Unfortunately I missed it as I work and do a load of cycling as well. Love to do an epic ride like that sometime, if you need a fellow cyclist in the future sign me up! 😊 I'm trying to top my 9,087 km's I biked for last year, close to 2,500 km's so far for 2024. You should try a larger, 29", framed hybrid mountain bike with slick tires on next time, a more comfortable ride, upright position with shocks. Plus a bigger seat, good for anyone over 40, lol

Went to Japan over golden week myself last year. It's certainly really full - places like Harajuku and Yokohama Chinatown are pretty much impossible to move through. But once you're past the big, obvious, touristy places, it's honestly perfectly fine. I recommend to just take those days to visit some unusual and more unknown places, I went to Uji and apart from Byodo-in, which was filled, there were really few people around

I was about to get on the go carts. I hate them too but I was here with two other people who really wanted to do them. I have an International Drivers License but luckily neither of them listened to me and forgot to get them. We ended up going to sumo morning practice instead. Also, I bet hanging out in Kokubunji is fine during any time. There's a beautiful garden there (but I'm not sure what else).

I seen IRL streams where even Japanese natives get confused of the bus schedules and wait for a bus that never comes in some rural areas, i am betting it was just a misunderstanding of how the bus schedules worked. One streamer i watched it seemed clear a bus would come at x times and take them to where they needed, after waiting and waiting a taxi driver stopped by asking if needed help and explained that buses are done for day, what streamer was looking at was the taxi schedule, not bus, so streamer waiting for bus and ignoring taxi's when none was ever coming. It may be a day of week they don't run or any number of things.

I just learned recently that Nintendo sued a bunch of those go kart companies for IP infringement and they can no longer call it mario karts anymore or wear the Nintendo characters. Nintendo decided to do it also as a result of many of the accidents which made them look bad as well. I believe they where rewarded half a million dollars among a few various tour companies doing the go karts.

I actually found Cyclethon 2 to have more interesting roadside attractions than Cycle 3. This time you hopped on the bike, went to the next stop and then on the bikes again. In the second one you had the Dutch theme park, Ono-san, the random Ghibli playground, amazing vistas with sakura and more.
