9 ай бұрынGuys, WE DID IT!!!!! Please enjoy this interview with the one and only Samuel Perry-Falvey! I had a blast talking to him and cant wait til we speak again! We discuss his family, when he started his creative journey, his love for music, when/how he met Ren and A LOT of music video QUESTIONS! So if you just want to know about Ren and Music Videos, you will have to wait til the second half of the video....but trust me, its super interesting hearing about Sam's history first!!!
This is my first zoom interview. The lag in response time makes it hard not to accidentally talk over each other from time to time. So my one thing i would change is doing it in person. That way we can naturally know when to talk verse when to be quiet. But really a nit pick critique from my POV.
Other than that, I really love what we captured! You can see our faces light up when discussing anything film related! Because he was such a good sport in answering the music video questions...i tried to up that part of the interview production by adding music video scenes of what we were talking about on the screen. I think it really adds to the music video question portion of the interview...tell me what you thought?

A long time ago in a galaxy (not) far, far away....it is a period of civil war. Two rebel video warriors, guardians of peace and justice, strike from a hidden base and have won their first victory in a monumental interview. Wow Joe E that was sooo lush, well done you did such a great job...once you started to record 😉. Sam if you read this, thank you for doing this interview. It was like listening to two buddies, bouncing off each other. As I thought, it was well worth the wait!!! ⚡Sparks was definitely flying with this one⚡.

@@joeesparks7 Great interview Joe. You hosted well with only a bit of fan girling but im sure Sam didnt mind. I loved how you both interacted with eachother, with plenty of nerding out. You asked some good questions in this that it would take me too long to comment on them. Moneygame pt1, such detail from him and his team to make that vid and it shows. Children of the moon, RIP camera. Also police story🤣. I knew the Knox vid looked different and yeh, that new camera is so good. I checked the specs and its a beast of a cam. His vids are going to look even better than before with that. Also, ive just checked back in your old vids to see when your "gift" to Sam appeared. A week its been there. Hopefully he can collect it from you soon. Once again Joe, thanks. I really enjoyed that.

This was such an interesting interview. It's nice to get that videography perspective that most people don't think about. Sam is such a nice, friendly guy, and so creative. I always enjoy seeing him talk about his videos. I am SUPER excited to learn that Sam and Knox made such a great connection and are going to be working together again! Very well done and well prepared questions! Loved the color setup and the video overlays. This brings so much more context to what you guys were talking about, like the color grading in Sick Boi and Hi Ren. Great decision! 'twas fun to watch you both geek out on the gear and the technicals. As a photographer I too geeked out over the 19 stops of range. I also resonated with the ‘videographer vs cinematographer’ self deprecation. I’ve been a pro for 40 years. I’m a global ambassador for a bunch of industry brands, I’ve been published worldwide- and yet it’s a constant battle to not keep pulling myself down (usually failing to do so). Imposter syndrome is strong. Keep up the good stuff mate. Loved the interview.

I'm used (as a musician) to youtube videos that are about the music, but since I work in animation also, I understand the language of film in that context, but it's great to hear about the live action process. 19 Stops of dynamic range 😵💫😵💫😵💫😲😳!!! I have heard many rumours of this camera, I didnt realise it was that powerful. I mean his old camera was insane too, I helped him carry it up the pier during the retake and I was so scared I would drop it or break it somehow. However the tools dont matter if they arent in the right hands, and they are in the best hands in Sam's!! Awesome interview Joe!!

It's a madness in some tests it's come out as 20 stops which is just nuts. Mad camera but again so much to learn about it to use it to it's best. But you nailed it a tool is a tool and only as good as the craftsman!

Good interview. I think more of the people behind artists and their videos etc should get the chance to give their insight and share their knowledge and experiences. Cinematographers, photographers, costume and makeup artists, set designers etc. They're a talented bunch.

This is the coolest interview I have seen by far in recent times. To be given the understanding and appreciation for the work of art that goes into all the musical videos behind Ren and lately Knox Hill is pure gold. No sorry, gold can't buy artistry in this form. I LOVE seeing creators geeking out like this! I'm working on a video-oriented online game series that also uses 2D and 3D game engine content--and videography is my weakest point. This interview is not only interesting from a fan's point of view; it's also a learning experience. I'm actually working on the game now as I'm listening to this, and it's inspiring me to work way past my bedtime. 🤠

Great interview man and well prepped, I could have listened to plenty more hours of you guys talking about all the stories, prep and tricks on all of his shoots, and I hope Ren and Sam get their Netflix series sooner rather than later. One small detail I always like to shout out in Hi Ren is the framing during the monologue. Firstly the general framing of the lamps over his two shoulders, representing the angel and demon, but also during the lines "the more rigid I became, the harder it got" the camera moves so the small (angel) lamp disappears from view. Then shortly after, as he says "I learned to relax", the bigger (demon) lamp is covered up. I love the little details and all the care and attention they put into their stuff, kudos to everyone involved! 🔥

I also have a Mark3❤ I partnered with a videographer out In Oklahoma for a couple of Boudoir-shoots I haven’t done it since I moved to North Dakota3 years ago 😞I’ve just had so many other things I wanted to do I lost track of what I wanted to do not making money.. cuz it isn’t about that for me! I just want to create beautiful art you know. ❤I’m lucky to be a stay at home mom who just put my last baby in kindergarten and I’m lucky enough to be able to try to do what I love and maybe the money will come later 🤷🏻♀️… ❤

I hate starting over again lol I’m too old for that packing and moving crap lol. These kids are nuts!! Lol 😂 but i enjoy every moment I get with them while they actually think I’m cool 🤣☠️much love ❤️
