We Took Our Kids To PHUKET, THAILAND!
On this episode, we leave paradise's peace and quiet and incredible wildlife for the busy and loud city of Phuket.
We took the 45-minute boat ride through Phang Nga Bay to Phuket. The weather was beautiful, and the sun was shining, illuminating the water and islands' beautiful colors.
From the port, we were taken to our hotel, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the hotel was awful. When we checked in, they didn't even say hello!!! The staff was so rude we were shocked. It was the first time we experienced that in a month and a half trip. Our room was very nice. However, it was right on Phrabaramee Road, which is extremely loud. We discovered that the red tuk-tuk taxis were parked on the street below our room. They blare music with tons of base at ALL hours of the night!
We asked to move rooms, but it didn't help as the music was so loud. We tried to leave the next day. However, they refused to refund our money if we left. Again, it was the worst hotel ever!
Even though our experience with our hotel was so poor, we didn't let it get in the way of us having a blast during our last three days in this amazing country.
First, we started with the waterpark. To say we had a blast is an understatement. I laughed so hard ALL day long. The kids were in heaven, and it was a joy to see the smiles on their faces.
The next day, we went to the elephant sanctuary, where we could feed the elephants and bathe them. It was an incredible experience to interact with these gentle giants.
On the last day, we went to interact with the tigers. Because of River's size and age, we were restricted to the smallest and the newborn, which was fine. The smallest were all "asleep" so there wasn't much interaction. We got to give them belly rubs and check out their paw sizes.
The newborn was so soft and cute. However, he did not look happy. He wanted out of his pen and was kind of wobbly. We felt bad for him, so we decided not to stay long.
Once we got back to our awful hotel, we decided to pack up and move to a quiet hotel closer to the airport, and we were so glad we did.
