Just a tip for some safety caution. When using a line like you were for a safety line when someone is going up the mast you need at least three wraps around the winch before it feeds to your hands. If all the weight hits the line at once then you will be able to hold it and ease them down, The way you had it with one wrap it would be pulled out of your hands instantly and therefore does little good. Be careful as you head off shore. Weather changes quickly and the west coast around Puget Sound is one of the most dangerous coasts in the world. Be safe. Have fun.

That was me in the tackle store in Prince Rupert . You're welcome for the tips, that's awesome. ha, enjoy. You can make the leader length from the dabo (splasher)to the lure about 12 feet, might be easier.When using hand lines be sure to use a shock absorber to prevent break offs, musta been big. We also talked on the radio off Point Grey when you were leaving Vancouver. Captain Al Larkey, British Columbia Coast Pilot

Hey Captain Al! We didn't know if you would want us to use your name or not. Thanks so much for the advise! as you can see it paid off. We have a black rubber thing to take the shock, but maybe it wasn't enough, or maybe it was a shark haha. To anybody who reads this, Captain Al is the only reason we got this tuna! He helped us for 30 minutes in a fishing store when he had never met us before, just overheard that we wanted to catch a tuna! he is just a super nice guy!

“I got a tuna!!!” Enjoy my friends, one of the best fish to catch with many ways to prepare it from Sushi to Tuna Casserole, seared, grilled, or in a sauce. Yummy. I love your enthusiasm, expressions of joy and the calmness you show us when something else breaks on the boat because you know you can fix it. Happy sailing.

AIS beacons on your lifevests is a good idea for open ocean voyages. Put a 3 way valve on your fuel polisher so it can pull from a jerrycan as well.

There is a thing called a "shaker siphon" you can use for transfecting fuel if the jerry can is higher than the tank. It is just a tube with a funky valve in it. When you shake the valve up and down it acts like a pump to get the fuel level over the top to start the siphon going.

Once again , I have sore cheeks from smiling and laughing. Raw fish cooked to perfection .. very good guys. Thanks for the video. .. oh 1 hint, if you don't have wind instruments , just use a tuft of wool on your stays about eye line height.. tells your wind direction better than any machine. (oh and if it is really flapping very fast .. you have strong wind.. just a hint ..lol )

What a great start for your adventure. After more than 50 years of sailing on the pacific coast I wish was with! A bit of advise. Remember the old adage of Ship Shape" ? One meaning is everything has a place and that is where it should be when not being used. Looks like you have some items on deck that could be lost overboard in event of some big waves. Give t ai bit of thought. You will be glad someday. Have Fun

Loving your videos. 😊 No doubt others will say the same. When you attach a line to your harness to go up the mast, don't use the shackle as they can fail at the most inopportunemoment. Instead , tie it with a bowline, then attach the shackle to the line to give the bowline extra security. Stay safe. 😊😅

We were told to get a purple and blue lure that skipped on the surface, we also got that orange thing that kicks up the water. The lure is 100ft away from the boat and about 25 to 50 feet away from the orange thing. The lure also had a double hook on it. If you KZfaq on how to rig a hand line you will find a better set up then ours, the most important thing was to have it out all day! Good luck with your fishing!

I think you need to go knocking on boat yard doors asking about abandoned vessels. You can make great content out of that. Just Google maps and call the marinas and see if they have stuff that they’re not putting up on the Internet that’s just sitting there shrinkwrap winterized up in the north east were boats only get used half a year. I’m sure around the great lakes those freshwater boats you can find a lot of that. That boats not worth $130,000. That boats worth $130,000 in pristine condition that’s the top. Unfortunately we know some dumb guy will come buy it for stupid money and keep the market inflated. Did you do NADA on the boat? That’s basically what the surveyor would use.
@sailing.supernova
@sailing.supernova 8 ай бұрын
We have had a surveyor look at the boat, and we have a list of things we have to fix, we picked this boat because we both liked the lines of it. plus it was right close to Darcy so it would be easy to work on and it was a great deal. our main goal is to have a fun trip, thats what we want to show in the videos, we would rather work on a boat when we are out in a remote location. That being said there is lots of work to do on supernova and we will have lots of boat jobs in our videos :-)
