Chuck Berry....godfather of rock and roll. Everyone else followed him, and most of the greatest rock stars credit him as one of their biggest influences. Mabelline is another great song from him. Funny you should mention Back to the future....this was the song Marty played at the dance with his guitar

That's true. We invented every genre of music. Every genre of music came out of us. Like it's written on the Sphinx in Egypt, "The father of it all." Another great artist from the 60's was Rosetta Sharpe

He wrote that guitar riff. If you hear it somewhere else it’s because they copied it from him. He’s the originator.

No problem about the pausing, but absolutely this is the origin of rock and roll. Jazz blues and country had a baby and it's called rock and roll......... Honestly though the birthplace of the Blues and or rock and roll is the Mississippi Delta.

In 1977, NASA launched two spacecraft - Voyager 1 and 2 - to explore Jupiter, Saturn and FAR, FAR BEYOND. Each carried a 12-inch gold plated record that contained music, sounds and images picked to represent the great diversity of life on Earth. The idea was maybe one day extraterrestrial life far away would stumble on the records and learn something from us. Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode'" was embedded with the likes of: Beethoven's; Fifth Symphony; Stravinsky's' Rite of Spring; and Bach's, Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. No other rocker made the cut (not the Beatles, not Elvis, not the Stones, not Hendrix, Joplin, or Morrison). This song is literally "far out" among the stars. Now that's immortality. Who knows, maybe a billion years from now some alien being will be tapping their tentacle to Johnny B. Goode.

It's not 1958 - it's from a Belgian television concert in 1965. He toured UK as part of this tour and I was lucky enough to see him 3 times. One show was awful, the other two were the best live performances I've ever seen.

......this was a performance over in Germany before a German audience with a German band of local jazz musicians who quickly picked up on the brand new rock and roll sound from America just for a small series of shows over there. You should have a listen to the studio recording of this iconic song !!! 🥸

I was born in 1958 and I can tell you that not everybody even had a TV back then! Most people had a radio but not a TV! And FM radio, I don't even know if it was around then. Almost 100% AM radio. Chuck Berry was a great guitar player with very big hands to stretch and form those chords. He was a bit of a prickly fellow, however. He did a concert in St. Louis with Keith Richards and Eric Clapton, and Keith had the temerity to actually touch Chuck's guitar. He had a bird at him for doing so! Kind of speaks volumes about a person when they behave like that. 🤨

Chuck Berry invented that type of guitar lick and everyone copies it. He is often called the father of rick and roll. Decades later the song was featured in Back to the Future. He was a master showman and could rev up the crowd in his older years. This song was in 1958, but I think this was a show in Sweden or somewhere around 1964. And hey man, music should know no skin color... it's the universal language. If everybody would get rid of their stupid guns and pick up a musical instrument and learn to play it, the whole damned world would be better off. I was a music teacher.
