VANLIFE EP.02 - During our first road trip in the van, we head west to Mugu Point Ca. We had some high highs (Hello ocean view) and low lows (Brand new van falling apart.) We learned a lot about finding a spot to stay and how things don't always go as planned.

WHO ARE WE?
We are Bob and Hillary, from Chandler, AZ. While we love living in Arizona we are not going to lie...the summers are brutal! So since both our boys are now in college we decided it was time to buy a van and travel! We originally thought we would build one out. But after the past 1.5 years we realized that prices went up and things were hard to find. So much is on back order. So we did the next best thing! We bought one completely finished and ready to go!
Our goal is to inspire others to start #vanlife, chase their dreams no matter their age and season of like and to help people achieve their very own home on wheels.

Instead of the black wire you use to keep the cabinet doors closed, I use ponytail holders with the balls (less expensive)….or bungee cords with the ball.

Congrats!! Very nice video!! I just spent my first 4 nights on my new van and I'm loving it!! Oh and the bag thing... well, it's all about letting go of plastic.. the point is that we bring our own reusable bags so we stop polluting our only home, our only planet. I celebrate that rule in California!! 👌😃

Just saw this video. I know it’s your first time out, and you’ve probably figured a better system out. If not, I have become really good at conserving water. I was new to camping in 2020. Camped in a travel trailer, but I’m picking up my, new to me, van on Friday. I know water conservation will be even more important. First thing is, you can’t letter water run as you would at home. Second is that it’s super important that no particles or grease get into your grey tank. Before washing dishes I wipe them down with paper towel. I use a washing bin, you can get them at dollar store, mine fits in the sink. You can even find collapsible ones. If you don’t have hot water, boil some to mix with cold, it will help wash better. Don’t use too much soap, then you need more water to rinse. I use Dawn sparingly (I’ve heard on camp groups that there is a new Dawn spray bottle) Put some soap in the dishbin, some on the scrubber or sponge. Wash drink ware, dishes and cutlery first. Put aside on a mat, then do cookware. Once all dishes are washed, dump your wash water, either in grey tank, or wherever else is allowed. Then fill the dishbin with fresh water, only half full. You can then rinse in there. In same order that you washed. If you’re staying put, I keep that water in sink and use it for next wash by adding a little hot water. This system saves a lot of water and space in your grey tank. Happy camping 😊

@@Vancaskeys I still forget we have no more plastic bags when i go shopping… I always look at the checkout clerk like, huh?? Lol 🤦🏼‍♀️ it’s been a year or two since the state forced plastic bags out… Crazy!

Strange I was just in Tucson for vacation last weekend and now you are reviewing the van I was contemplating. My co-workers think I need a bathroom though for the ladies when I go glamping?

Wow! Cool! I would have preferred a bathroom but it would have made the van longer. We wanted to be able to park it in our driveway comfortably.

@@Vancaskeys I am back again considering the new Thor rize 18A model. Hope to get your opinion on using the Thor in snowy sleet weather? I live in a flat coastal mid atlantic town I might try to drive in 1 or 2 inches of snow. With all the plastic tubes and generator stuff hanging underneath the Thor do you think bad weather driving will be problem? I think the Pleasure way tofino has a cleaner undercarriage which may be better for inclement weather, but the Tofino isn't as nice as the Thor.
