Ignore the people that are disrespectful. Families have lived together for generations! This separation of generations is an American phenomenon.

Nothing wrong with staying with your in laws. Your children will get to spend a lot of time with their grandparents and have many memories to look back on

Your children having time with grandma and papa are making the greatest memories. No one but no one has the right to tell you that living with your parents is mooching. If they didn’t want you to live with them they wouldn’t have offered. People should worry more about bigger issues than your living arrangements. ❤❤

My family all live in the same house, my parent’s house, together. My dad passed in 2006. My momma passed last year, but she wanted us to be with her in her last years. At first I was just her companion and daughter, but she started having falls and then developed Dementia about 11 years ago. I became her full-time care-giver until I got ill in 2019. My illness took about 2 years out of my life and I couldn’t work…it was good I was home with a roof over my head. As a family of seven now, my sisters and their husbands, my daughter and niece all live here together. We are a missionary family and we cannot afford to live separately. But my parents homesteaded the house just so all of us would have a home, when not on the mission field. It was more important for them that we would be able to continue in ministry than worry about our housing. My daughter got to live with her grandparents and aunts and uncles, which has been a great thing for her. Her best friend is her cousin, who lives in the same home with her. We didn’t have to put Mama into a nursing home because we took care of her. Same with our dad. I was honored to take care of my mom - after all she did for me and my sisters…She was in her house with her loved ones when she passed. I sat next to her the night before and was able to sing hymns to her for over an hour while she slept. I feel she was blessed and so were we to be able to share so much life together. It’s only our culture that looks down on this. And culture doesn’t always get things right! There’s a lot to be said about how we live. You know what a family truly is, and I commend you. Bless you as a family within a family.

I think it’s absolutely wonderful that papa and nana get to spend time with their grandkids. Whatever works for you guys it’s not our business. I love it 🥰

As a kid on a farm, we had five generations under one roof. It was WONDERFUL!!! Wish more families could experience this type of lifestyle. It was such a blessing.

I grew up in a five generational home, and that was a great part of our family members successful lives. We all contributed, worked hard but not struggled, as each built their careers and homes.

There is nothing wrong with living with and helping family, especially grandparents and their kids and grandkids living together. Alot of cultures live together as families and if you ask me it makes the family unit stronger. My mother died from cancer in 22 and that was 1 thing I wish I did was move in with her before her passing. Re:-living with one's parents can be a great asset. Grandparents are so happy to have their grandchildren with them,plus I know you & hubby takes the vest care of his parents. What beauty.I love it.

I make my butternut in a similar way but i cut the work down by cutting it in sections, putting the whole thing in my big pot with the steam tray on the bottom. I steam it for half an hour, let it cool, then i peel the skin and take out the seeds. It's much easier after cooking.... Then i put it in my blender with honey and a small amount of unsweetened soy milk or regular milk, add a steamed sweet potato, and cinnamon and blend it. I reheat it when finished and it's like whipped squash. Very similar to sweet potato pie. Except I'm not good with pastry. This is good enough to be a pie filling! I steam everything that i can. The pots are cleaner too!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Personally, I find nothing wrong with living with a family member temporary. In this situation, everyone is able to make new memories, reconnect, and get acquainted. What I do have a problem with is when you invite people in your home and they have nothing to offer financially or don't make an attempt to help contribute to chores. 😊
