It's interesting that having a creator badge meant you could film without hassle. Several times on Saturday I noticed staff jump onto anyone who appeared they MIGHT be filming, and informing them it was "strictly no video recording" during the event. It sounds a bit like a way to curate the best impressions (like all the unannounced paid advertising through influencers 😑)

I traveled to Manchester from Germany, stayed for all three days for Warhammer Fest and I have to say that it was fairly disappointing. Having been to Warhammer Fest Europe in Amsterdam and Düsseldorf, I was disheartened by the fact that there was no real way to meet and speak to miniature designers or Games Workshops creative team in general. For someone who is mostly interested in the lore, painting and creative Work this was really devastating. Additionally me being not that good with many crowed places it was very hard for me to enjoy the event. This was very unlike the other events I attended and the queues were ridiculous. the only activity that where the wait time was in any way moderate was the KOYO pin painting challenge and some of the computer games. Luckily though I had the pleasure, to have a long and informative talk with Lee Godden, who created the emperor titan at the titans walk, so I had something to do on the first day.(Maybe you could colab with the Titans owner club and play a match with the warlord) That said, if they don't change anything coming forward i don't think I will participate in any events in the UK as its just not worth the money to book a place to stay and pay for travel. I whish i could have met you guys as your channel always helps me calm down after i had a rough day and I would have loved to see the GREAT OOGIE BOOGIE in person, but seems like I somehow missed you all three days. Anyway thank you for all the amazing content as always and best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Don't worry about jumping the queue to look at Golden Demon - we did the queuing thing and were told multiple times by event staff that it wasn't an official queue and we could just barge in. But queuing did seem to be the easiest way to get up close to the cabinet (especially for the shorter of us).

My first trip to the UK for a gaming event, my local friends saw me with at least 1 Irn Bru every day, to the point at the end they were asking where my sausage rolls were, which yes I indulged in several Gregg's. To the point that when I came back, friends had stock piled several bottles of full sugar for me, and had even gotten a couple bottles at the airport and brought them over when they visited. I always thought it tasted like somewhere between pink bubble gum and red bull.

Getting ejected from Warhammer Fest is a badge of honor. Canada has those black licorice candies too, very much Grandma candy and imagine you'll not be able to find them in a few years. They sell Fuzzy Peaches everywhere so someone must like them, but never met any of them. And yeah Hickory sticks are amazing.

How Guy describes the Synth trade shows is more like how previous Warhammer Fests have been (although GW IP only). They had GD, reps from every team in GW doing demos and available to talk to. Black Library authors. Seminars all day, pods giving mini-seminars/demos. GW merch store (tshirts etc), GW-typical store, Forgeworld store, Warhammer art store. Various third-party GW-IP trade stalls (like Bandai, HalfMoonBay, the Warhammer tights/hoodies/etc) various video games, an entire section of the event space just for demos of the new addition, etc. You could very easily jump around to find activities with minimal wait time. The "content creator lounge" described just sounds like a typical press/media lounge. Just a space with plugs and tables so media have a space to work whilst at the event. (not really intended to be safe storage).

I really enjoyed the conversational tone of this video. It’s a departure from your usual, wholesome and family-friendly approach to content creation and not in a bad way. I love how accessible your usual content is but it was nice to sit down and paint a Bladeguard Veteran whilst listening to you guys chat and hanging out with junk food. You get the feeling you could actually sit down and enjoy a beer with any one of you - all you guys seem really cool too. PS You definitely should have added a plug to your guest’s channel!

Maybe my man Ant can make it too ;) It would be nice for you to be able to compare it with Warhammer fest and let us know your thoughts. Also, it was nice to hear some unfiltered opinions on how fest was run as other content creators seemed to just gloss over it.

Great meeting you Guy! It was my first event and GD entry, and it was a fairly weird weekend of unused space and queues. Luckily Manchester is packed with things to do/eat/drink, as I was done with the event in about an hour. Was surprised myself and a friend came away with no models from the event. Only thing I bought were the objective markers for the high price of £40 - so expensive about 3 of the staff reminded me of the price. Here's hoping we get an Adepticon UK, having multiple vendors probably helps a lot. Think they missed the boat in early 10ED models, or even being able to pre-order a box would have been nice.

I got back into the GW hobby over the last few years after a couple of decades 'away' (by which I mean painting Battletech and Heavy Gear stuff instead of Space Marines), and had idly wondered about Warhammer Fest. It sounds... really underwhelming. I have really fond memories of Games Day and Golden Demon events in the 90s and looking at GD entries is only a tiny proportion of that. Listening to an energetic Andy Chambers standing in the middle of a side-room taking questions from anyone and everyone? Chatting with Jervis Johnson - happy to give the time of day to some sixteen-year-old kid for ten amazing minutes - about upcoming Blood Bowl developments? Watching demos of their giant injection moulding machine churning out sprues all day on the show floor? Eavy Metal live painting demos? All gold. I'm sure there were queues but the only one I remember was the one to get in. From everything I hear about the event I'm glad I didn't pay any attention to the initial impulse to go, but that makes me a bit sad.

This is the Warhammer equivalent of stopping off at the services with your pals on the way back from Glastonbury, and I'm absolutely here for it! ❤❤❤

The main draw for Warhammer Fest was always meeting the authors, creators and other creative staff members. You can typically play the games and buy the merch elsewhere.

You are forgiven for not liking fuzzy peaches....(there are way better tasting Canadian gummies, I'm not a big fan of them either) But I thought all dressed would have gotten a way higher review! Hickory sticks are so rad, and unique. Also, Mr. Big is the best chocolate bar imo. Great job Mav! I'm glad I didn't go to warhammer fest.... The Coventry Warhammer Fests were awesome.

Having worked at Games days (the events that they used to have before warhammer fest) For several years with my time at GW the US team always put on WAY better events than UK. (sorry brits) Its just that the US has SO MUCH MORE of everything. We would have at least 10 exhibition tables for EACH GAME that we set up for like 2 days in advance. plus something close to 50 open tables and 50 tournament tables. In addition, local clubs could register and bring their own tablescape which would push that number over 15-20 tables for every game. I used to have to fly in to Baltimore a week early just to paint scenery and models for exhibition tables. During the event I ran the LOTR exhibitions and the massive Last Alliance battle. Even way back in 2005 the line for the Baltimore event was MASSIVE. From the inside we could hear them chanting WAAAAGH so loud it was shaking the building. Once inside though, there was almost no lines there was so much to do. EXCEPT for the forgeworld store, which was basically still mail order only back then. So seeing a store setup was something special. Back then we didn't have to deal with influencers and content creators. You could take pictures of everything. And GW would just lie about anything and everything that they didn't want getting out. Management always had an absolute stuck up their butt about secrecy that I never understood. To Guy's question about female golden daemon finalists, yes there have been some. Back in my day there was a paintress named Natlya Melnik who absolutely DOMINATED every Golden Daemon she entered for years. She was either finalist, winner, and even Slayer Sword winner (which is like best in show and you would get an ACTUAL sword as a trophy)

It was great to meet you and Hatty (at the hotel) and grab a photo with you. To be honest Saturday morning was a nightmare, so crowded and so many queues. Going with friends and meeting people made that day because it was anxiety inducing at times. Big shout out to the staff who were very helpful and friendly despite the stress they must have felt working there and hopefully they take everyone's feed back and improve for next time.
