It's not wrong to feel relief when a loved one passes, I believe it's God's way of letting us know that they are ok and he is taking care of them now. We all deal with grief in our own way, that's what makes us unique. Those other animals may also be mourning in their own way. Thank you for sharing everything with us, we are all here on this adventure with you!

Megan, don’t feel guilty, she felt love, and that alone is amazing. I felt this same guilt once but it was after caring for my Mom. The moment she passed and I saw family all around me crying…I wasn’t. I was the one to put hundreds of hours into my moms care and the moment she passed I just loved knowing the pain was gone. It took many visits to counseling to understand it was ok to feel like that. My tears eventually did flow, but was much later. Much love to you for allowing her to feel safe and secure, and most of all cared for and loved ♥️

Sadly we don't have the ability to give life we can give it time or effort to give life to the best chance to heal & become whole. I understand how you are feeling. I have felt the guilt and relief simultaneously so many times when I have lost both 2 legged and 4 legged family members. Aww Megan don't ever feel we are ashamed of you or angry with you. I think God gives a peace when our animals pass. We know they are no longer suffering or are in pain. I had to put a couple horses down about a month ago and as soon as I knew they were gone, peace came over me. They are running free and no longer in pain. I just hoped they didn't say, "why didn't you do this sooner?". I finally found a scripture that gives me great peace too that animals go where we go, Ecclesiastes 3:19-20. I wish I found this scripture years ago. Now when they pass I know that I know that I know they will be there to greet us in heaven. Now ask yourself a question, would you do this all over again for Honey Dew? I know your answer, you would do it no matter how exhausted you were doing it. You should be proud of yourself. You guys were amazing with miss honeydew. Best of all God is proud of you. Proverbs 12:10 "a righteous man cares for his animals". I'm proud of you guys. Sorry she passed. God gave me a song when I had to put my boys down and it really helped me through the pain of losing them and I hope it helps you. It's "Into the Sea" (it's going to be ok) by Tasha Layton.

Oh sweet friends...most of us pet-lovers have experienced similar with beloved animals. Some health conditions, in my case diabetes in my heart cat, can improve and things seem to get better. But, their organs can become compromised and situation goes downhill. I am so sorry Megan and LE, XX. I do understand the feeling of helplessness.
