Our Impressions of Karbala

Күн бұрынIn this travel vlog the girls visit Karbala, one of the four holiest cities in the world for muslims. We spend time admiring the spectacular beauty of the Al Abbas Shrine, we get fitted out in our Iranian chadors, we enjoy the hospitality of Iraqi pilgrims who hand out sweets to visitors and we return the favour, we also hunt down a local biryani restaurant for a well-earned dinner. This is the first of two vlogs from Karbala. Stay tuned for more and for our visit to Najaf in the coming weeks. @@girlsontheloose1 We are in the days of Ashura. We receive visitors in our homes. On the forty days, most Iraqis from the rest of the provinces go on foot to Imam Hussein, some of them walk 500 kilometers, and some walk 300 kilometers. It takes 15 or 20 days to reach the front. Forward with his family and children these days, most of the visitors sleep in the homes of other people who honor them in sleep, food, clothing and service, although they do not know them only because they are visitors. And it serves you to believe what I say until you see these actions with your own eyes. Iraq is another world of generosity

Al Abbas was an extremely handsome, incredibly tall and a powerful man who enjoins almost a holy grail status among the Arabs as a warrior and all of its merits. A boy wonder who grew up to have his combat grandeur equivalent of that of an army's. And of course his unflinching, altruistic loyalty to his clan, tribe, religion and his brothers.

Abbas a.s is highly revered in Islam for his loyalty to his brother Husayn ibn Ali a.s and his role in the Battle of Karbala in which he was the standard-bearer for the Ahl al-Bayt a.s. Abbas a.s is buried in the Al-Abbas Shrine in Karbala, Iraq, where he was killed during the Battle of Karbala on the day of Ashura. He was praised for his handsome looks and was also well known in the Arab community for his courage, bravery, strength and ferocity as a warrior. Ibn Manzur narrates in his al-Ayn that Al-Abbas was the lion that other lions feared as a testament to his accolades as a warrior. Sheikh at-Turaihi describes Abbas a.s's appearance as resembling an unshakable mountain, with his heart firmly rooted, due to his qualities as a unique horseman and a fearless hero.

In Karbala every year mourning ceremonies are held in this place, which falls in the month of September. Millions of free meals are distributed along the 600 km long continuous line from Basra in southern Iraq to Karbala, in addition to free accommodation along this road until it reaches the peak of mourning after forty days, when nearly 25 million people meet in Karbala. There are many countries that participate in this festival, such as Iran, Pakistan, Arab countries and many others. Welcome to Karbala, this is a small glimpse into this holy place for Shiite Muslims of the world
