Our Journey From Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy, Laos - Laos With a Local

2 жыл бұрынToday we are traveling up the Nam Ou River from Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy, Laos.

Muang Ngoy is a tiny village only reachable by boat on the Nam Ou River. We hired a private boat and left Nong Khiaw early so that we could make some stops along the way. The first stop we made was to our Captains village to pick up his kids and look around a bit. We then traveled further up the river to another village where we took a short hike to a waterfall. We finally made it to Muang Ngoy in the late afternoon and decided to do another short hike to a sunset viewpoint. This slow journey from Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy was one of those experiences that you don’t plan for but remember forever.

Wow, the landscape is incredible, but the people from Laos are sooo friendly! It makes me smile just to look at them, especially the kids, they seem to be truly happy and genuinely kind 😊... What an amazing video, guys. Really well done! 😃The longer format fitted perfectly with the adventures, I really enjoyed watching every second of it. 😊

Laos has some of the friendliest people we have ever met! We felt truly lucky to be able to spend time with the locals, especially the kiddos! Glad you enjoyed the longer video, it was a big boy to edit haha! 🤗

Have you ride the brand new Laos-China railway? It is the first high speed train in Laos that opened last December. You can see the landscape from the mountains to the jungles. If you like nature, it's a fun ride. You can tour both countries Laos and China on same day.

@@banpho7527 i don’t need an english tour guide. Im Lao and could understand just fine as well as speak it. My parents were refugees there. They have told me multiple stories of how it was before. I know a lot of things have changed. I am just grateful that people are actually visiting and getting to know my culture.

Spokane- small world!! I volunteered in a dental mission about 10+ yrs ago. I miss Laos. If you 2 are ever in “ Seattle” or Edmonds more specifically i would love to share stories. Tommy your parents are the best. I don’t think I could keep up with them hiking up treacherous paths. I admire your experiences you guys are sharing with everyone.

I love love love this series. I had English students from Laos. I loved them of course. I love seeing this also because this is where they came from. The kids are SO cute. It's good to know that the raspberry means the same thing in every language. That made me laugh. :)

I was one of those students, first let me thank you for doing what you do. You have taught us well. As I grew up and wanted to know what happened to my country. I was looking KZfaq videos, I came a across an American GI describing what he saw and will never forget. The village full of people like the ones you see here in this video was bombed by the US and the entire village was gone. The horror on his face and he said this not what he signed up for. We were bombed for 10 years. We were one of the lucky families that was able to get to Thailand.

Laos is surely a beautiful country, with materially poor yet friendly and less pretentious people, but deep in my heart I always think of the amount of bombs that were dropped on the country.

Thanks for visiting my former country, Laos! Those village kids remind me when I was still a little kid like them and lived in villages like that. After the communists took over Laos in 1975, my family and many Lao people fled as refugees to Thailand then to the USA. Subscribed!
