My maiden name was Ciminski, but the original spelling was Cieminski. My grandfather changed our last name because of a falling out with his family. Would love to be able to connect with that family to learn more about myself.

I know that it's an old video, but I need to correct you about Kashubians never having a state/kingdom. Dukes of Pomerania would title themselfs as "dux Slavorum et Cassubie" meaning "Duke of Slavs(as in people) and Cassubia(as in land)". The area of Cassubia and Pomerania were 1 entity during 10/11/12 etc. centuries inhabited by Pomeranian tribes which, could include Cassubians, or maybe they even meant the same thing. The wrong assumption of Pomerania and Cassubia being different only started after Germans colonized and assymilated or replaced local Cassubian population, thats why I write this in Pomeranian voivodship not Cassubian and voivodship west to it is called WEST pomerania and not just pomerania. Also it is in Kashubian anthem "Zemia Rodnô" that states "My fatherland, beatiful land of Cassubians, Stretching from Gdańsk to Rostock gates". People that lived there were asimilated into Germany and the HRE, after so many centuries and we're the last survivng bunch of Pomeranians. Some cool kings/dukes of Cassubia include Swiãtopôłk II Wiôldżi , Sambór I and Erik Pòmòrsczi.
