Yes we were a little camera shy in this first video. We hope to improve as we go. Thanks for watching.

Just recently found your videos. I am about 2-3 yrs away from building a plane. This is such an inspiration. I will show my wife this video. I sure hope she will help me as without her help I will never get it finished. We do everything together :-) Looking forward to going through this series. Thanks so much for making these videos. They are a massive help to others. God bless you and your family.

My STi kit is arriving around October 1st. I, too, am a first time builder. 😬 So I hope to be following your steps by next fall/winter. I’ve been talking to a few other builders on the site, and they have been very helpful.

Mine is scheduled for mid-September, but with the reduced factory production, I’m thinking mid-October. 🤞 I’m getting excited also! I’m bummed AirVenture was cancelled this morning. I really enjoy seeing what others have built.

Looking good. Just a suggestion on reaming. Feed your reamer shaft through the hole backwards and pull the reamer through while spinning it. This will aid in keeping proper parallel alignment between the reamer and the bore.
@KitfoxPilot3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh, I did learn that later in the build.

Hello Harlan, just watched your first video with Susan. You guys started off very well, I look forward to watching the rest of the videos in the series. It is funny how just turning on a camera changes our behavior a bit! Have a good day, Matt

Hi Matt, I have watched most of yours and you are much better in front of a camera then me. Haha. Look forward to seeing yours completed!

@@KitfoxPilot Hello Sir, thanks for the confidence boost! I have done some silly things in front of the camera forgetting that “I” am the editor and can cut whatever I want out. The first time I picked up the Cleco pliers, I turned away from the camera so I could figure out how they worked before filming it! Have a great day. I’m working on putting in the seat pan. It seems that most of the front edge covers up the floor boards at the front. Did you trim all that overlap off or at least the areas where they cover up the screws holding the floor boards in place? Have a great day, Matt
@KitfoxPilot Жыл бұрын
@@KingFox76 I think I just ground a relief area out where the pan sits over the screws and left it long. But you can do it either way. Seems like I just put a straight edge on the seat pan and made the front straight and cut off some on the back to make it straight and shorter. The edges need to be shorter than the door frame area or you will drag on them getting in and out. You have a great day too!
@KingFox76 Жыл бұрын
@@KitfoxPilot Thanks for the help with that, I will go get to cutting! Hopefully Spring will show up soon. Take care, Matt

Was this a basic kit or partial factory assembled?
@KitfoxPilot2 жыл бұрын
Roger, this was a normal STi kit with the quick build wing option. i think the quick build wing is standard now with the STi wing.

@@KitfoxPilot Did you feel that silver covering for the wings was worth it sorry I don’t remember the name of it is it quite a bit more expensive and does it take the place of painting at all thanks for responding to my first question. I’m really considering one I have an area that could be a runway on my property I’m a commercial pilot retired these things just look like a blast. Oh by the way is this your first build
@KitfoxPilot2 жыл бұрын
@@Nordviking8 Hi Gary. It is my first build. The cost of the oratex fabric figured out to be very close to a painted plane and 200+ hours less work and it is a stronger fabric. If you want a show plane you have to paint your plane. If you want a nice working plane then oratex is good. It can be painted but that defeats the purpose I bought it for. A runway at home is the only way to go!
@Nordviking82 жыл бұрын
@@KitfoxPilot Your videos are very good I like the fact of showing those little tips and tricks that you’ve learned from other builders to pass along I was thinking that the aura tax product was in Lou of paint and it does look much stronger than what they are usually built with your build looks great looking forward to you taking your first flight I’m just north of you on the eastern border of Iowa . have a great one, looking forward to seeing your finished product you’ve done a great job.
