This mystical dream, or vision of Saint John Bosco occurred when he was a young priest, before prophetic dreams were a regularity in his life: for he received over 150 of them before he died. This vision was before the Oratory was well established in Turin. In fact, it was a time of great insecurity, because he wasn’t sure if keeping up the apostolate with these boys was even feasible. He was very poor and lacked funds and space for the 200 boys he was helping at the time. It all seemed impossible, until this vision put new life into him and assured him of his providential mission.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I just wanted to say that the sheperdess in the dream was clearly the Blessed Virgin Mary. It's actually pretty common for her to be depicted as such.

The lambs seem to be Jesus and the apostles, especially as they change from lambs to shepherds. Apostolic succession for the priesthood.

@@DaughterofOurLady the lambs represented the boys Don Bosco would be entrusted with by our Lady in his many oratorys . Our lady was showing him how through her help he would turn them from wolves (wild, without virtue etc ) into gentle lambs eventually (holy,meek, humble,virtuous).

@@DaughterofOurLady Those who changed from lambs to shepherds were those among the oratory boys who later became Salesians and joined Don Bosco in his work.(as we have been told in several videos, that some joined him upon maturity).

Happy Feast of All Saints and also tomorrow for all souls. I have to ask this question in light of the tragic situation of the Middle East did Don Bosco ever made prophecies regarding the Middle East or rather The Holy Land?

In olden days we had big spacious beauuutiful churches and cathedrals.... (even Goa, uneducated and poor ) although science was not advanced... those are the ones who plunged themselves in believing and trusting God immensely, today we have the materialistic world to look forward to... and....(.....) it's time we turn back to God hundred percent... not ninety nine...

I'm not a Salesian, however, I did visit the glorious church of Our Lady Help of Christians in Turin in May 2018. It's an active place with the many Salesian orders coordinating their work there. It's not a tourist place as much as a pilgrimage site. And you have to want to get there since it's not talked about in the usual tourist literature/ websites of Turin. It is within walking distance of the church of the Shroud and museum.
