As a retired trucker, take my advice and don’t open your slide-outs in tight parking spaces - We like to think that every trucker is a professional driver; but, actually, that’s far from true. With the current shortage of drivers, the industry is plagued with “90 day wonders” (Drivers with hardly any experience!) 🙀

I concur!! Over 40 yrs over the road. I've seen some head shaking stuff out of our professional driving force out there. Never assume the big rig driver is aware of what's around his rig...... never!

I've been watching for six years while more and more people take to the road, actively promote the road life and lo and behold, it's crowded and more regulated. Moral of the story, If you've got something good going on, keep it quiet.

This is the reason I'm getting out of my RV. AIthough I urban camp or boondock 99% of the time, towns are getting more snd more annoyed by abusive RVers. People gutting their RV's in parking lots and leaving the junk there before pulling out. My local dump spot is considering eliminating the public dump service because of people purposely clogging the dump station with clothing and towels. They think they're getting back at the park owner(for whatever reason they're doing it) but they'll only eliminate a necesssary local service. If this one closes, the next closest one is 12 miles away. That's not that big of a deal but it requires a bridge toll adding $6 to the dump fee, fuel etc. But I'm making memories here!! Stuff I don't really want to remember...

Sorry you guys had such a difficult time. We have lived in Colorado for many years. Colorado has changed massively in the last 2-3 years. You really can’t find any camping, paid or free, easily. The tourism has exploded. People are moving here in droves. Everything is crowded. Most places are booked out 12-18 months in advance. It’s really sad and discouraging to see tbh. Glad you made the best of it!

Nathan, my plan for staying over night at a place that doesn't "technically" allow it, is to pull in, find a suitable parking place, get out, throw your hood up and look troubled at the engine.( pull a fuse or relay to the fuel pump so it won't start). If it's a Wal-Mart go in and tell them you're having engine problems and you have someone(a friend or roadside assistance co.) coming to fix it but it may not be till tomorrow.

I remember having little ones. They are gone in the blink of an eye leaving you wonder where years went. Enjoy every second the screaming, crying tears years are so short. Relish every tear. Live in the moment. Remember they are learning and your right the crying and yelling is the only way they can say what’s bothering them sometimes. God bless you and your beautiful family.

Our pediatrician wanted the kids off pacifiers & bottle at 1 yr. We told the kids they could only have it in bed. So there were times during the day they asked to go to bed just for the pacifier. There were other times that I had to give in and let them have it for 20 or 30 mins and find a way, usually a snack or drink that I could sneak it away. That was so hard with the boy. The girl didn't care much. We have not done to many really long trips. But they are trying and the kids will either fall asleep or get very cranky! Having a Class A, a snack or meal gets us thru a tough time. At 7 & 5 now, a game helps, I spy, auto bingo or singing songs. They are just getting into drawing so I will say, Let's draw a bridge, or mountain or bus, or RV and see what they can do. Over the last 6 months, their drawing has improved a TON! I would love to travel the mountains out west. Not sure how the Class A would do or if hubby has the patience to tackle that. We mainly do GA, NC, SC & FL. I'm trying to get him to TN. Safe Travels! HUGS~Donna

We usually avoid Colorado. This year we passed thru to visit family and stayed at a KOA (which we usually avoid) for 3 night near Colorado City. I bought a Thule rack for my gravel bike. The steel bar that clamps on the front wheel broke. It snapped at the base. These racks really pitch up and down at the rear of the trailer. I love my Furion rear camera. I tried covering my bike while going down the road. It really didn’t want to stay on. You’re truly brave people doing those distances with children. I’ve been on the road since August 2nd. So far I haven’t had a problem finding sites. I’m a thousand trails member so I’ve used them or Encor the entire trip with the two exceptions. Colorado is absolutely beautiful! Parking at Walmart is a process!😂 Blessed are the flexible for they shall not break! Great Video!

We've done long drives like that. I can so sympathize. My son was a teenager. Yes, they can amuse themselves, but we so get cranky on long days. Luckily "it's just a Prius with a luggage rack in the hitch", in the pouring rain, for too many hours. Manage to get the last motel room... Unpacking in the rain, the luggage rack cover is soaked, but the stuff inside was dry. Good night, sleep tight, tomorrow is another long day. Yeah, it is the worst Best Day. I still remember that trip filled with love and fun. Travel safely.

Funny story about a horn. Our son when he was 16 wanted the glow lights in the cab of his truck. He hooked them up and had a switch. He went to school went to blow the horn and it got stuck on. He had tied the lights into the horn somehow. He said he wanted to crawl into the floorboard. When we are headed home Bill is all or nothing he almost drove from Colorado to Alabama in one day. He would have if I hadn't made him pull over at 2 am we were 3 hours from home but it wasn't worth it to push it. We slept in the Walmart parking lot for a few hours and headed on.

This is the real life side of RV'ing!!! Thank you for showing the harsh reality of traveling with littles. Our kids also have an addiction to asking Alexa all the hard questions LOL! Kids these days have it so easy! We used to have to spend hours thumbing through an encyclopedia and now they just yell out "Hey Google" and the world is there to answer their wildest questions 🤯

@@LessJunkMoreJourney Y'all are most welcome! I'm only an Aunt, but those times you question if your "perfect" for them get erased when they hug and say I love you randomly. My nephew is a Jr state park ranger. He told me after he got his badge " I thought it would be boring, but it was cool". I've watched videos of Hensley doing Jr ranger activities and that inspired me to introduce my nephew....so thank y'all very much!!

We are past the kid stage except for grandchildren. Best way to travel when ours were little was an RV - but still, that was roughing it compared to what you have going. Your kids are precious.

Oh, we missed you! We live in Clive (suburb of Des Moines). Would have loved to catch you in the Walmart parking lot! My husband is a UPS truck driver between Des Moines & Davenport...probably saw you on the road that day. We generally do long days because we have a limited amount of time. Can't wait for retirement when we can take off for longer than 2 weeks at a time and take the shorter days. 18 months and counting!!!

I have watched since your first video, and even bought a rv because of you two. The Alaska trip was my favorite and is saved if we ever can go. I have subbed for years, but for some reason U Tube does not include all your videos. Hensley has really turned into a beautiful little girl, and the Mrs just keeps getting better looking with time. God bless and hope I can find your future videos.

OMG! My husband is the same way about parking!! When we get to the campground, he will pull up and back in half a dozen or more times to get it "just right"! He usually ends up in the same place he started!!! Hope you guys have gotten some rest and wish we could join you at the Balloon Festival!! Maybe next year!!

Yes, time goes way to fast, when you look back. Enjoy watching your family, ours are grown, house quiet and empty now, except for when the grand children come. We travel part time in our camper and find the same problems with places to stay, we do boondocking too. Been watching you guys since you first started your journey. When ours were little they too ran around in diapers, much easier, lol

We are about to start traveling full time to follow my husband who is an RN. We have 4 girls who will be 10, 7, 3, and 10 months when we start in June 2023. My husband thinks we can just go wherever the great paying contracts are and I am terrified of driving long days to make it to a contract cross country as newbies. Thank you for posting these videos on this subject. I will be watching the others next.
