Awww I love when Abby said she just wants to read to little kids 🥹 That is so pure. It would be so cool if Abby started a channel reading books to children…. I would certainly tune in for my son to watch 🥰

@@user-lz7gc9ue3han adhd diagnosis is just the doctor asking the patient about their symptoms and if they have enough symptoms, they’ll diagnose them. they don’t measure anything objectively (there’s no blood test, brain scan, etc.) so while it’s best to get a doctor’s opinion, if matt has done his research and feels he meets the criteria, a doctor would probably agree!
@OldMcDonald00
@OldMcDonald00 9 ай бұрын
@@miissssbThey’ll do a physical exam, behavioral exam/test, go over family history, other types of questionnaires, and possibly even give you a referral. Sure, you can find any negligent, unethical doctor who will let you diagnose yourself and hand you a prescription like it’s candy, but it’s important to find that doctor who will take the time to go over all of those things with you to ensure an accurate diagnosis because people get misdiagnosed and over diagnosed ALL of the time. Nowadays it’s way too easy for someone to fake their way into a diagnosis for medication…. and attention or for the use of excuses lol.
@miissssb
@miissssb 9 ай бұрын
@@OldMcDonald00it’s definitely over diagnosed & i wish there were objective tests, but where we are currently is that diagnosis occurs after simply asking questions about a patient’s symptoms (MAYBE interviewing people who know the patient, but that’s rare, especially with adults) a behavioral screening is also extremely rare, would be used more in the case of children. im not saying matt has it or anyone with those symptoms has it, but if matt says he has almost every symptom, then a doctor would probably agree!

Matt and Abby, I just want to say THANK YOU for simply being yourselves. I’ve found myself watching your podcast at all times of the night while in the thick of postpartum. My baby boy is 8 weeks old and I’ve had so many set backs in my recovery that have been so disheartening. However, being able to hear Abby explain all the emotions/struggles I also have experienced (that make me feel so alone and vulnerable) has brought tears to my eyes..because for a little time, I don’t feel like I’m alone. You make me feel like I’m right in the room with you guys, laughing and enjoying life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me work through this dark, yet incredibly beautiful new chapter of life. ❤ p.s. I’m also from the Midwest and live in Tucson 🌽➰🏔️

43:44 would love to add that from a neuroscience/psychology standpoint, memories are tainted by the emotions felt at the time of recall. Memories do not exist as stories set in stone on a shelf, but with each recall of that memory, the individual components of the memory are recompiled. This is how memories can change. Think of the movie inside out- the memories emotional backdrop changes depending on the emotion of the person at the time of recall. I love the psychology of memory so i thought I’d throw that in! :)

Absolutely music can cause strong emotions in a baby/toddler. My oldest song would get so sad to “you are my sunshine” EVERY time, starting at about 6 months. (It was on a playlist, would have to skip it). They can be sensitive to the sad tonality of songs, not the lyrics. I’ve seen many other little ones react to music - instant joy, tension, etc
