I'm not a meteorologist, but I remember back in middle school when I messaged Stephanie Abrams on a live Q & A wanting to learn which routes would lead me to become one. I would watch the weather channel 24/7. It then occurred to me that I truly just loved the music. As nerdy as it may be, I still listen to weatherscan playlists on repeat since they took it off cable. The music soothed me in my fears during serious storms, helped me focus on schoolwork, and gave me inspiration for my own writing. One of my dreams is to write at least one seasonal song for the weather channel (if they still do that sort of thing). Ryan Farish is the one who inspired me since he spent years crafting tunes for them & I still remember when he sent me encouragement responding to a Facebook message I sent him. That dream is still alive & well. Thank you all involved in weather channel for providing those little moments of encouragement.

My inspirations include my Mom who introduced me to severe weather when I was 3 years old, she's a thunderstorm junkie. I decided to take it further by reading up on Dr. Ted Fujita, and who else to be an idol than his protégé Dr. Greg Forbes. Even though I didn't go to college, I've learned more about severe weather from Dr. Forbes than a college textbook could because I've talked to former students of his. His students enjoyed going to class because he made it interesting and went beyond. I've been able to teach my Mom more about severe weather than she knew before. I've even talked to Forbes on a few Facebook posts where he and I were talking about the controversial final ratings of tornadoes. Tim Marshall is an idol in terms of engineering, and how to rate tornadoes based on context, appearance of structures etc.

Flip Spiceland! I used to watch him all the time and he got me started, but I'd say that it was Dave Schwartz who got me hooked on weather.
