Yes. Obituary rules. Was listening to their new album with a friend while drinking beers. And also a lot of newer death metal bands. I think it was only Gatecreeper that kept my head banging the same way as listening to the old masters.

Queensryche Operation Mindcrime is held in high regard because it is an awesone album. Every single song is a banger. I can understand if you dont like it becuse of the singing but it doesnt make it a bad album.

Black album has many well thought out songs with a lot of character and hooks and still hits hard. Great big sounds and still raw edge of metal. Hwtsd is far worse but dm just got the freaking praise because it came after st anger. But it's like 1000 riffs in one song going nowhere and a cluster fuck of people pleasing songs.

Yeah. I love both. I feel like the "Iowa" song is the counterpart for the "Scissors" song. At first I hated them, but after a few listens, I started liking them. I wish I could watch Slipknot playing "Scissors" live, that experience would be so memorable.

Idk they are standouts in the genre along with obituary, monstrosity, morbid angel and deicide, last time I was on bandcamp I counted at least 30 morbid angel clones, it’s very difficult to find your own style and voice in death metal, so much modern death is very bland, nothing different, I’m constantly searching for bands that stand alone in this genre, my search continues

Your opinion sucks. The Black Album is one of Metallica's best albums, it's a very good record. Death Magnetic is not that good, it's just more tolerable than Load, Reload, St Anger and Hardwired. Black Album is a fantastic album it's beats Death Magnetic any day!

As far as Operation Mindcrime goes, its one of the albums that needs to be taken into context from the time period it was released. Yes the production and Geoff's vocal arrangements are very dated but at time it was new and groundbreaking. And its more of a theatrical rock album definitely not as heavy as their earlier stuff. As far as the story goes I think it takes on way more than it can handle with drug addiction, prostitution, politics, religion etc. But for what it is its some great music imo. Saw them play it live back in the day.

Just want to get out here and rep for glam metal...as an old metal head, I love that stuff! Yes, I listen to death and black Metal mainly now, but I still love me some Skid Row, Crue, Poison, and all the other guys! It’s understandable why all the young guys and girls hate it, but seriously, it was a great time for music in the 80s!

I have no problems with any of these at all. I never heard that Wintersun album or the Pissgrave albums so I'll have to check those out. What was up with the Metal Meltdown parts? The audio wasn't matching. It was like watching a 70s dubbed kung fu movie. But still I'll check out his channel. Thank you for all your videos.

When you were about to mention Operation: Mindcrime, I thought you were going to say Clockwork Angels by Rush. No offense, but I would have thrown my freaking phone off of my porch if you did. If you want a great concept album, go to Clockwork Angels. By the way, it's one of Rush's heaviest albums, and it's their final album. Came out in 2012, and I saw them on that tour.

I had the hardest time getting into Clockwork Angels. It wasn't helped by the fact that I first heard it live, in whole, it bored me then and they cancelled the second half of their show, where they were going to play their actual classics, due to an incoming thunderstorm. So it left a sour taste in my mouth and on multiple listens of the album itself it just... bored me. I'll have to see if after a few years I like it more.

@@Transilvanian90 Oh dear. I'm so sorry about that. Sounds to me as if you had a bad introduction to the record. Clockwork Angels is a very special album to me, and as a fan of Rush, it was rather easy for me to get into. Also, coupled with the fact that this is their last album ever makes it very bittersweet. The Garden all on its own is a very emotional song given the situations that would follow the record. I would maybe suggest you try and give it another go if you haven't already, and if you still don't like it, I understand. Clockwork Angels isn't a concept album that is frequently talked about outside of us Rush fans. Good luck my dude!

@@Transilvanian90 I agree with you. Snakes and Arrows is a really good album. I love every song from Far Cry up to The Way the Wind Blows. The songs on the second side, aside from Faithless, Malignant Narcissism, and Hope kind of lost me a little bit, but they're still pretty good songs. I do prefer Clockwork Angels, but Snakes and Arrows is, in my opinion, one of the best albums from the late 2000s.

Kinda makes me glad now that cannibal corpse replaced him with corpse grinder years ago. Corpsegrinder is much more proficient doing vocals than Chris Barnes is anyways

Haunted is bad as hell. The riffs are simple, but you can sing along to it! "I took an axe to your head, chopping rotted flesh, brain is seeping from the cracks in your skull. Blood drains from holes in your torso, I took your life from you!" I haven't heard the album in a year or so, and yet I remember those lyrics and many others with somewhere around 90% accuracy. You can sing em clean, growl em, whatever you want and they’re awesome! It's not great death metal, but it's full of great songs. I'll fight ya if need be.

Agreed 100%. Sure Jari has the work ethic of a Turkish gangster but his music is almost always excellent. I love Time I, although I prefer the Self-titled debut. Also, you can't really call Time I overrated since a lot of people shit on it, often due to hating on Jari instead of the music. Which is kinda shitty.

The problem with Death Magnetic is that it doesn't feel genuine. Metallica were told to listen to their first 4 albums to see what made them so good - and they just painted by numbers with the album. The songs don't have soul.

With Six Feet Under-Haunted I will say it’s not an album I consistently go back to but it is the album that scratches an itch for mEEEEEE when I get it and that’s why I like it.

Jonathan Davis says “boomamagghgffgghvcdd!” and everyone is fine but David Draiman goes “Ooh-wa-ah-ah-ah!” and people lose their minds 😂 I still chuck Death Magnetic on I still really enjoy most of it. I like Slipknot’s S/T but it’s one of the most front-loaded albums I’ve ever heard. The one song on See You on the Other Side I will stand by is Seen It All, it should’ve closed the album. When I think of overrated albums I can’t help but choose British Steel and Number of the Beast, they are both held up as pinnacles of Metal but both are only held up by a couple of songs and neither does their band justice.

I think Metal Meltdown is not objective. Death magnetic is far from being a masterpiece, it had production problems. I don't think its overrated, it is a good record, period. I think his analysis approach and comments are lame and that tactic of critism being a jerk or trying to be cool bashing something is waaaaaaaay overrated and really not my cup of tea. Everyone can shit on something, I preffer some different kind of analysis

His criticism takes something that one may argue is overrated and just shits on it 100%, to a level that's kind of a caricature. I guess it's just theatrics. Like, you can argue that Time I isn't a masterpiece if you want, I personally like it, but the argument that if you remove every element from the music you're left with nothing... wtf is that lol?! That's an absolute truth for literally all music. "Muh if you remove the guitars and the vocals and the drums and the bass from Rust in Peace you're left with nothing" Yeah no shit Sherlock.

agree on, see you on the other side. its one of korns worst albums. but when this album was released, head ( guitarist ) had left the band and korn seemed to be running out of ideas and they started to struggle a bit but overall, this album to me is border line average.

Ahhh, I disagree with Haunted, at the time of its release death metal was really stagnant, blast beats and noodling riffs, guttural vocals and who can put out the sickest album cover, with haunted shure Allen west brought the obituary groove, Barnes vocal hooks and lyrics made it unique, to say there are no memorable songs and that this band isn’t a standout in the genre is crazy, Sfu have kinda done everything in the extreme spectrum, tech death to stoner doom and death n roll

Oh my word, what did you say about Cyanide? That song is sooooo middle of the road. Yes, it's too loud(I do have a nicer mix on cd). But Cyanide is the first track I'd trade for any of the Beyond Magnetic tunes. The instrumental is boring and long. If you cut cyanide and S&R, you'd fit the four Beyond songs. (If you need a pinch more space, then End of the Line goes). Anyways, Death Magnetic is still my favorite Metallica album since Justice.

I don't hate Mindcrime, but I don't worship it either. Musically I like it, but when Taint overdoes it(which is all too often on their early stuff), it takes me out of the song. The story is cool enough, but I roll my eyes when people call it the best concept album. This is probably Sacrilege to say, but Promised Land is my favorite QR album. I like a lot of tunes on Empire. Yes, it's more radio friendly, but they are some well written tunes. I like the LaTorre albums more than a lot of Taint ones

Totally agree about Motley Crue. Too Fast is a great album. But if ever hear Kickstart My Heart or Dr. Feelgood again, it will be way too soon. Hate this album.

How about over hyped people. Ruminating I thought of Wes Borland. Big Dumb Face has two releases both half filled with joke song filler and three our four KILLERZ👹 I picked up Black Light Burns Lotus Island. First three songs total 7 minutes and its one drunk piano diddle broken up. Limp Bizkit were hype machine day one. Sorry Wes but no John 5.

i used to LOVE Korn as a kid. elementary through middle school and into my freshman year of highschool, I lived bands like System of a Down, Korn, and Slipknot. since then I’ve started listening to ACTUALLY good music, and I cannot stand ANY of them anymore (admittedly I still like blind and freak on a leash, though that’s probably also because of nostalgia). TRASSHHHHH in my opinion. Jonathan Davis’ voice is so annoying, and his lyrics are horrible. and their riffs aren’t even any good the vast majority of the time. amd their choruses SUCK

I'm the opposite, I thought they all sucked back in the day (except SOAD, always liked them) but have grown to appreciate Korn, Slipknot and Deftones in the last year or so.

i have never liked 6 Ft. i enjoy middle erra disturbed, when they went straight hard rock, as i go back to the sickness, it has not aged well. i enjoyed death magnetic, and believe it is actually underated now a days, when it first came out, it was definitely a return to form for the band, the songs definitely feel bloated at times. Iowa, Iowa, Iowa, fuck the first Slipknot album, it's up there with the sickness i feel the same about Dr. Feel good, Too Fast for Love rips, but im more in to Ratt, never been glam fan I got bored with See You On the Other Side really quick, i feel like they stoped trying on this album i cant Stand Wintersun at all, fuck that band i have yet to get in to Dragonforce, i dont mind listening to them, but im just not a power metal guy i have never heard of Pissgrave lol i used to like Queensryche, they're meh to me

I hope you don't say "slipknot 99" is overrated, cause for us hardcore "maggots", that have been following slipknot for 23 years, "slipknot" and "iowa", are the best 2 slipknot albums hands down, these albums have slipknot true essence and what made slipknot SPECIAL.. those 2 albums can be flipped #1 or #2 depending of the mood of any true maggot... and I myself have given the chance to their other albums, been my next favorites: #3 we are not your kind, #4 volumen 3/subliminal verses. Every other album has 1-3 good songs on it.. self title, Iowa, and even wanyk are albums that can be heard from start to finish on loop, and doesn't get old... Problem is, "newer fans" that jumped on the slipknot Fandom after vol 3,all hope is gone, or even de gray chapter, liked the "commercial slipknot" with the melodic sounds and weak sounds/lyrics... Well just saw your take of the self-titled album, and I must say FK U TOO, true slipknot fans were rooting for them since they were 100% NU METAL, with the dj scratches, Corey "frantic" lyrics, and all the chaos on that album... the selftitle is anger,intensity and fast...for those reasons, we true slipknot fans LOVE IT.. the point of that album is to VENT ALL YOUR ANGER with it, and 23 years later it still does just that, most of the album has been on my gym Playlist for about 14 years... Same for iowa(hate and rage made an album), does the same as self-titled but on steroids, also most of the album on my gym Playlist for 14 years... So go vibe to snuff and vermilion, and FK OFF POSER..
