Dr. Mozaffarian addresses the fact that we face a national nutrition crisis. The food we eat is the leading cause of poor health, and preventable healthcare spending in the United States, and a major driver of health disparities. It’s time for a coordinated strategy to reshape the way we incentivize, support, and drive innovation in our food system to leverage the full power of nutrition to improve health, advance equity, and reduce healthcare spending. Dariush Mozaffarian is a cardiologist, Dean, and Jean Mayer Professor at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and Professor of Medicine at Tufts School of Medicine Dariush Mozaffarian is a cardiologist, Dean and Jean Mayer Professor at the Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and Professor of Medicine at Tufts Medical School. He's saying things that make sense, how did we go from this to "Lucky Charms are healthier than eggs"? I came here because I read about the Tufts Food Compass nonsense in my Substack.

Great lecture. Thanks! It seems like a few commenters missed the difference between whole grains (ie oat groats, rye groats, brown rice, whole spelt etc…), which made the top of his list-and processed grains (ie pretty much any grain in kids’ cereal, white bread, pasta etc…), which are at the very bottom. 🙏🏼✨ BIG difference.

This guy is a politican hack. He's not actually saying anything of use to anyone. Lucky Charms man, this guy wants you to eat Lucky Charms. Can I get my Lucy Charms without Roundup or can I only get the box that has been tested and contains Roundup?

How are eggs not at the top of the list with water? How are seed oils considered sustainable? Processing this sludge takes energy, degrades the soil, and takes away farmland that could be used for grazing or for fruits and vegetables. This guy reminds me of the "Music Man".

We need to stop eating highly processed carbs and eat nutritious Whole Foods. Grass fed beef. Free range chicken with the skin. Eggs. Throw away the Raisin Bran and cheap bread.
