I have been watching you for so many years Josie and I love your vlogs! I have been noticing though that when it comes to decorating, if Charlie likes something then it stays even if you aren’t sure on it, whereas if you like something and he isn’t so sure, it has to go. You have such a good home sense and I just hope you are getting a say in things too as there’s been quite a few times now that I’ve picked up on it. I hope all is ok xx

The new antique desk is so much better suited to the room the previous desk looked too small for such a large room. Charlie has great taste in antiques and I love the room 😍

The round one needs to be in a bathroom and the bigger one she bought fits right in. Charlies chair doesn't suit that room either. The room needs a much more comfy, upholstered chair. IMHO...Sorry Charlie. :-)

I think that there is lots of pressure to have a perfect home straight away. All these beautiful homes you see on Instagram have been curated over years not months. I disagree with getting a designer in. Make it your home. Take your time. Invest in pieces. Make your own mood boards and create a home that is intrinsically you! You both have very good eyes and we all make mistakes, that is part of making a home look lovely.

Charlie has done a great job in decorating the office. The finished side looks so good! The lighting in the office may be the best in the whole house I think. Love the desk!

I think a decorator could mediate your different style directions very well, helping to craft a blend of masculine and feminine, old and knew, even if just a consultation. Then all purchases would be done with an overall vision, after measuring and agreeing. Having said that, it is nice that you both give each other freedom of expression here and there, and are equally invested in the outcome. And your home is looking so 🔥

Whether called a decorator or designer, the person must be experienced and well-known with a good resume and history of working on homes costing in the price range of that house, as well as its historical history and restraints.

@@georgekenny6174 They got a landscaper to do plans for their garden. Why on earth is it nonsense to get a decorator for the interior? And I do mean decorator as there is no need for a designer to make design modifications to spaces/areas, as they are prohibited to do so by law.

Keep the bed linen in a shade of white. Wheat colored, linen and raw cotton would all be lovely. Having white bed linen is a sure way to get a good night's rest.

I saw Antique furniture and I knew I’d love this vlog already! Anyone else is recognizing how Charlie is really getting into enjoying decorating and shopping for their home? Josie I’m fine with mixing it up - fashion and then some interior designs too😊I enjoy ‘em all! Side-note: I agree with him about the turmeric staining everything. I’ve experienced this too😩

Just because the house is old it doesn't mean that everything in it has to be old or look old. We are living in 2021, with computers, TVs, Thermomix, etc. Not all things have to perfectly match the house, you just need to really like and enjoy what you put in it. Your bedroom furniture is lovely.

I’m quite surprised at some of the comments below I think the difference of opinion is wonderful, clearly they have created a relationship where both parties feel safe to disagree with each other , feel empowered to try something or buy something for the space they share TOGETHER , and to be quite honest I really appreciate the fact that Josie leaves these parts in her video and doesn’t just show their life as always seeing things eye to eye. That’s not reality it’s not the reality of mine or anyone else’s relationship, The different opinions is where creation happens / if we all thought the same nothing new could ever be 💕

I’m so pleased for you that you painted the prima in your powder room. I just wish you weren’t apprehensive about doing it without Charlie knowing. I think Charlie is a sweetheart, but as some who has been married for 20 yrs (I’m 43), mutual respect of equal levels, to each other is essential for both people to be happy. I love the rug in your dressing room, the partners desk and the whole vlog. A great use of 40 mins as always - thank you both 😘🤍🤍🤍

For the attic (?) bedroom you could paint the chest of drawers a dark brown or a moss green and change out the knobs to an older style that fits in better, perhaps in brass. I think cream coloured bedsheets or in the wheat shade, nature colour range would be lovely. With all the items you have bought and then had to sell because they didn’t work out you could have afforded an interior designer to give you ideas as to what to purchase and places to find them that you may not even be aware of. They also would look ahead at what future plans you both have and make suggestions for smart investments now that will still work down the line. Just a thought...and better late than never.❤️

The thing I find is that people are always trying to change their home into something that it wasn’t meant to be and they never stop trying and then wonder why they never reach their goal.

When you move into a home you have to give it a chance to speak to you. Charlie's rushed the process but maybe it's because he's so young & thinks he needs everything at once

Okay, iI just had to quickly pause your video 10 minutes in to make a comment. I love you both but Charlie seems to be taking control over the decorating of the entire house. I feel like you should compromise. Josie, your bedrooms are BEAUTIFUL and they suit your personality and your style. Charlie, the gym, the study etc..are much more masculine English Library/Pub - and you've done a great job with them. While I agree (and no one asked me but I'm offering up my unsolicited opinion anyway) that the house suits a more old English masculine vibe, it is not like it does not suit Josie's more feminine softer vibe as well. The fun is to see both of you put your personal touches on different rooms of the house. That is what makes your vlogs so interesting and fun to watch. It would be boring if all the rooms looked the same. We can watch that on any old heritage-style decorating or historical home program. Again, love you both. Compromise is the key to happiness :-)

Personally, I'm with Charlie regarding master bedroom, style wise. There are such an exceptional choice of different styles which can be found at the same store their current bedroom was purchased from, which would suit the period and English country house much better, still keeping in touch with Josie;s personal taste and vibe. It's surely matter of taste, but style vise, period vise, geography vise - there are much more suited options for magnificent master bedroom than current one. It's lovely, but it's just wrong for that majestic old house, situated in English countryside. If they opt, one day, for at least french country rather than Versailles, I'm positive the difference would be amazing and Josie would be very pleased indeed with the change. I don't want to be that person, but not hiring professional help when you have such a huge and not easy project on your hands, usually proves to be expensive mistake. Lately, Josie and Charlie seem to be on the right track, most of the time, which is lovely! Keep up the good work! All the best!

One needs a balance in their decorating tastes so that the house energy is fluid and not stagnant . It is about the yin and the yang, feminine vs masculine. Also it is challenging because the couple needs to feel comfortable with all the chosen furniture or more ‘permanent ‘ pieces otherwise subconsciously there will always be that unhealthy state of feeling that a particular space does not feel right, especially if it’s a shared space.

Lol seeing the behind the scenes of getting the chair up the ladder and through the window was funny. Where there is a will there is a way! The partner desk is stunning and a lot more functional for the both of you. Getting some drawer/storage organiser's will help keep the large storage area tidy and accessible 😊 The rug works really well in the dressing room and will work well with a pouf in the middle of it. 😊💛🐶🐶

I'm have a very feminine personal style and thus would never buy such an exceptionally old house. When you do make the decision to buy something so old, it is incumbent upon you to honour that heritage and architecture.

Anyone can buy new furniture. Classic antiques furniture elevates a room to a higher level. It adds your personal style that cannot be copied. For inspiration look at Ralph Lauren’s residences. The quality and patina of old wood is much better than newer pieces.

I like some of the modern furniture mixed with the antiques otherwise it looks a bit old fashioned. Keep the bedroom as it is its looking great. Would drive me mad if my husband kept buying things without consulting me. Especially if he moaned about your painting....you did a bloody good job! Xx

Josie seems to me to be a thoughtful and fair person........perhaps she was pleased with Charlie’s enthusiasm for the house, in the beginning, and maybe it’s just beginning to get under her skin. I don’t think Josie would allow herself to be walked on to any extent. She has backbone and she follows through. I think we might see a change in the dynamic very soon. Women who please men too much are eventually not respected. It’s a delicate balance. Wouldn’t you say

I have to laugh now Charlie bought one chair for a huge house and people are here up in arms that he is making all the decisions about the house and not asking her opinion etc. I mean come on people get a grip. That house is huge and have rooms that we have not even seen yet. This is what real life is, both buys stuff and sometimes the taste clashes. No need to make big drama about it. I personally enjoy that Charlie is in the vlogs and enjoy him telling things, why people find it arrogant I don't know maybe that says more about them than about Charlie. So keep the vlogs coming.

Hi Josie and Charlie I've not watched all the vlog as of yet but, I just think the set of grey drawers in the attic room should stay.. The contrast from the dark wood and the grey lifts the colours of each.. But it's personal preference. Either way I'm sure it will look great. I love these home style vlogs. I like the guest bedroom, it's looking good with the new chair. Great choice Charlie. For the bedding, I would go with a small print duvet cover and try and pull in the same green colour from the headboard. A little print in the room would be great. The new desk is amazing. 🤣 When you said the Charlie room instead of the powderroom. Try oat colored bedlinnen (or something else you have in that color) that you already own and love in the attick bedroom. Just lay it on the bed to see if it's the right choice. 😱 Charlie wants to change the master bedroom. Nooooo keep it!!! It's so lovely and perfect.

You are not allowed to paint a room off of your dressing room without concerns of his criticism. Josie, I love your style, it brings a softness to the home so that it doesn't look like a man cave.

Oops, I almots feel this vlog has a bit of an agenda, reading the comments now. Hope that was not Josie's deliberate intent! I recall Josie saying that Charlie advised her not to paint herself, as she can use her time better. He's right! Why not create fabulous content to grow your channel? The painter can't create content, but he can paint. Any business owner or manager would agree. What I now do want to see though, is for Josie to follow through and paint that entire bathroom, including the cutting with a paint brush. When she's finished she can let us all know if she thought it was worth it from, a time is money perspective. It could be a valuable illustration of using your time in your day and your business. How many reels could have been filmed while painting walls? The paint guy can't film reels, but he can paint. Let the dude paint.

@@carolinaochoa7900 Time will tell of course. Let's wait and see in the next vlog if we get a time lapse of Josie finishing the project. I was surprised when Josie asked in the previous blog, if we think she would also have to paint the corners and edges next to the beams with primer. Of course one absolutely has to! Primer needs to be applied on every single bit of plaster, especially new, in order for the paint to adhere to the wall. Keenly waiting for Josie to get the brushes and the latter and will absolutely be cheering her on. Also excited for her time lapse of the chosen paint colour to see the new transformation xx

@@leeg2252 the walls are being wallpapered. She was doing a mist coat. If she wants to do the mist coat herself, then she can. With a lack of inspiration for content, doing something like painting is a great way to switch off from constant thinking about how to create content, and get back to being present.

I really enjoy Charlie's opinions on the interior and the more masculine perspective. When a couple lives together it can't be all pink and bows guys... Me too I would be really angry but it should be a joint decision but to be honest I’m not used to a man taking such an interest in the decoration of the house, I always make decisions over colours and design, my husband wouldn’t have a clue!💜

Sunday’s are always complete with a Josie Vlog! By the way, the chair that Charlie purchased we had a dining room set with those chairs, so comfortable. The house looks incredible! Your conversations are a hoot with Charlie! I’m an American 🇺🇸 and I get it, maybe because I had a British boyfriend not long ago. The green looks good in that room, very warm and cozy. xx ❤️🌸

Couple comments: When arranging things always have odd numbers. (I think someone already mentioned this below.) Also consider having different heights and shapes for more interest. In the office: Should you oil the desk? The wood looks a little dry. Have you thought about using table lamps instead of sticking floor lamps in the corners. A beautiful ceramic lamp would look lovely on the wooden storage piece in the office. You could easily add another reading chair in the office as well. The clothing rack looks out of place. Is it an office or clothes storage? How do you want the office to function? Adding fabric valances on the windows would soften and add texture to the room. Have you thought about adding art to any of your walls? doesn'twoodmirrorapplicable. Last thoughts: Stop putting furniture and lamps in corners or up against the walls. Call a decorator who can work with you to come up with a long-term plan so you don't waste money purchasing things that don't work. Good luck. You are both darling and your house is a dream home. May you continue to enjoy working together to make your house your home.

Why to buy a wood chair when your room has so much wood already. Fabrics and cushions will make the room more cozy and comfortable. When you are inside a bedroom...you want to rest, unwind...be cozy and comfortable.

Josie, I can see why the study is your favorite room. The paint color you and Charlie picked works so well with everything, and the view from the windows is so beautiful! I’m afraid I wouldn’t get any work done...too busy gazing out of the windows. The new desk is perfect. The rug in your dressing room is a really nice addition, it does cozy it up. Love the design of this room. The boys cuddled in their doggie bed by the study window was so precious! ❤️

Charlie is quite obsessed with furniture, which is a little overbearing to listen to. He was amusing though about the smell of beer lingering in the carpets. Me thinks Charlie could do well as an interior decorator. If you keep changing everything, you’re gonna go broke. Hate butting in like this, but can’t help it this time. Please, don't marry Charlie unless he finds a real job and can be proud of himself enough to not always try to prove how much he is good and right in everything. Over you. I know my english is bad, but i need to say it : you are the one who is famous. You are the one who works and earns the money. You are the one that we all love and respect. And Charlie's behaviour is unacceptable. He has to respect you and to make you feel that you are a treasure. You are truly one. What would he do without you ? I am so sad.

I love to see what you are doing with your home, it is beautiful! It has been fun to watch and see how you decorate it. I know that you have given us tours of your home before but I'm still confused with the layout of it. As an idea for a blog, I was wondering if you could go from the outside front door, and give us a tour explaining to us what is on each floor as you walk through, down the halls, up the stairs, and such? I have a general idea of it but some things still don't make sense to me. Maybe even add views from outside the house saying what each window is for the room inside. I just love your house, and I like to visualize right where your at.

We lived in England for four years, and the first pub we went to smelled like beer and it was just marvelous. It was a wonderful experience! We ate at several pubs over the course of those four years but that first one, there was nothing like it.

Another thought; since the two beautiful desks are so similar in their leather tops features...would there be room, if you decide to keep the old desk after all, that you might put it parallel to the windows and snug it up to the new desk so you have additional space to spread things out and use it that way. This would allow you to turn to one side, and have work space close at hand... If you considered this, the chest of drawers between the windows may have to be moved, and the new desk slid closer to the wall with the entry door. Not sure if the heights of both desks are compatible. The new desk is lovely, but the surface area for two people may be a bit small. Perhaps considering incorporating the other desk on one of the two sides of the new desk, either parallel to the window wall, or parallel to the entry door wall, could maximize your work space, and have the best of both desks for your work area?
