***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

OMG!! I’ve watched your guys meat rabbit series & finally convinced my fiancé to be open minded about homesteading. We want to get a few breeding rabbits to start stocking our freezer. But first we bought a couple rabbits from our local butcher to try because I’ve never had rabbit lol. I also bought your new cook book, and I must say I’m BLOWN AWAY! We tried the lemon garlic recipe first (amazing, tastes just like roasted chicken) and tonight we had the jambalaya. Sooo good!! And I’m so excited to get our rabbits to have more! Thank you so much for all of the great content you put out. It has inspired me so much ❤️

I just binged watched your rabbit playlist pretty much all afternoon. I've decided I want to raise meat rabbits recently and my research took me here! (I think I've convinced my boyfriend) so once we get a set up in place we'll start with one breeding pair! Your videos have been VERY helpful and informative. Thank you!

I have been raising rabbits for 5 years now and have many ways I fix it. This looks amazing, but our daughter is allergic to tomatoes and about 14 other foods, so the bbq sauce probably would not be okay for her. I just thought about using either a peach jam I have made or a zucchini marmalade I have for that part and then the bacon. Now we are anxious to try this. Of course I have to buy more bacon as we live in town on a very small piece of property and no room to raise pigs, just the rabbits and chickens. Rabbit is our main meat source. I enjoy all of your videos. Have a blessed day.

Etsy msg'd they sent out my book today. I made this recipe a bit different after watching this. Our adult daughter is chronically ill and has many food allergies as well, one being tomatoes so not bbq sauce. Instead I used my homemade zucchini marmalade which has orange jell-0 and pineapple in it along w/ zucchini. Then wrapped in bacon. It was sooooo good. Like a sweet n sour and served w/ rice.

I really appreciate this having a rabbit cookbook. I have more than once bought a frozen rabbit because I'm really interested in having rabbit on a monthly basis. However, I have no idea how to cut one up, and I don't have a pan or an oven big enough to cook it whole. So it has sat in the freezer until it gets freezer burn and I just end up giving it away. If you have a video you've already done I would love to see that as well thanks!

Maybe a further explanation that my apartment does not have an oven. it has a 2-Burner cooktop beside the sink and a convection / microwave oven on the wall and it is not big enough to hold a decent sized cooking pan. So a loaf pan is the largest size something I can cook in which is why I need to know how to cut up the rabbit and whatever rabbit portions are thanks

That on some mashed potatoes an a side salad or coleslaw cant be beat.

That looks fantastic! One question... have you tried brining the meat? I started brining poultry like chicken and turkey and the results are always amazing. I don’t know if doing so would also benefit the rabbit meat. I started raising meat rabbits, some of which are ready to butcher. I look forward to trying different recipes. Thanks for sharing!
@LivingTraditionsHomestead
@LivingTraditionsHomestead 6 жыл бұрын
We haven't brined the rabbit meat. I guess we've read to brine wild rabbits to get the gamey taste out of them. So, since these are domestic and so mild, we haven't thought to try it. We brine meat before we smoke it and that is fantastic. One day, I will brine a rabbit and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the tip. That's very exciting that some of your rabbits are ready for butchering! Freedom, one step at a time!

I bought your rabbit cookbook and have a question. All other crew toes I have watched say to marinate in a brine or buttermilk every time before cooking in any way. Yours doesn't say that for every recipe. Is that maybe because they might be cooking wild rabbit they have hunted and we are cooking our own raised rabbit or is there some other reason?
