Hi, I'm sorry that you got scammed in Bali, I begin to follow your vlogs since I myself searching for resort in Bali, and I stumbled upon your videos in Sidemen, and you both are nice couple. My tips for you, expect Bali will be crowded when Ramadan time, because we have really long holiday. Currently I'm still in Bali, and I feel this time of the year, Bali really2 crowded, maybe because our government ease the travel regulation this year after 2 year of strict restriction. I myself think won't be coming to Bali again next year of Ramadan, because the price of Hotel will be a lot expensive, and there will be a lot of queueing in restaurant. If you need help in Indonesia you can message me, I'll be happy to help.

Your content is refreshing and informative after all the superficial "influencer" garbage produced by everyone and their mom these days. I have countless hours of material from helicopters to luxury hotels and yachts, but don't even feel like publishing it, because it's so superficial and useless to most people. We are travelling to South East Asia with my girlfriend for a few months on the beginning of June, so your content comes just in time for us to do some research. Thank you! 🙏

I worked in the hotel. Just sharing some info with you guys, it's not common to let confirmed guests to wait for 4 hours to get info whether there is room available. But that's for 5 stars hotel like Shangri-la. For 2, 3 stars hotels in touristy places like Bali, Phuket, etc, it's possible to happen. Usually is : the hotels really don't have room at that particular time, but there is buffer time, where the guest who occupied that room decided to check out last minute, this freeing that room for next guest. Why 4 hours? That room & toilet must be cleaned, during pandemic is also disinfected, the whole linens must be changed, and remember - last minutes check out means that chambermaid has done that shift, you must wait for the next shift staff to do the job. You must give the staff grace period as currently peak holiday season. Anyway, wishing you happy time in Thailand. Koh Samui, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai are places worth discovering. South Thailand has many Muslims. North Thailand predominantly Buddhist. Be respectful & have a good time exploring those places. Stay safe.

sad that you have experienced this issue. as 70yo regular yearly long term visitors to bali since the 90's, we have found that planning for us is vitally essential, we even pay an extra night using this for a 6pm checkout to travel back to the airport so we can be more relaxed. good luck

Agreed, I am in Sulawesi now but was just in Bali last week. Still not back to normal but getting busier. I always book a night right by the airport so I don’t have to stress the day off my flight. Stayed at the Hilton which included breakfast for $38 dollars! Walked over in the morning to catch my flight, easy peasy.

We just left Bali on Monday after an extra week there. Bookings were slim even then and we already noticed the influx of visitors last weekend. FYI, Indonesia = largest Muslim population in South East Asia + Eid (largest holiday after Ramadan fasting for 1 month ) = 1 week off national holiday. Kinda like trying to get a hotel last minute during Xmas or NYE in Canada.

@@Stahlwerk88 doesn't matter, Bali is in Indonesia and everytime a long-holiday comes (whether it be the Eid Al Fitr holiday, Xmas holiday or literally any long-weekend holidays in Indonesia) there will always be an influx of visitors coming to these places such as Bali, Labuan Bajo, Lombok, or any other holiday destinations in Indonesia. Unlucky for tourism seekers/ foreign travellers, today's Eid Al Fitr holiday is the first ever post-pandemic Muslim holiday in Indonesia that permits literally everybody in Indonesia to go back to their hometown and celebrate it with their families (or go to these exotic places in Indonesia, such as Bali, and spend the reminder of their holiday time there)

Safe travels. After being the second last flight out of Bali in 2020 we are looking forward to going back in November. We want to get out of the main tourist areas and look at long term stays. As a couple in our late 50’s we are looking at ways to keep us cashed up to retire from full time work early and spend extended time in Thailand, Vietnam, Bali and the Phillipines. We both have very little Super. Watching your videos has encouraged us to review our plans already. Not sure if we could do what you do or where to start. We are putting our expertise into industries we know. Won’t give us the passive income but hopefully setting up things we can leave and be able to pick it up when we come back to Port Stephens NSW. As far as Sites to see in Thailand we can throughly recommend Khao Sok National park As an attraction. But there are so many Enjoy Thailand. Our next mission after Bali will be travelling down the western side of the Gulf from Bangkok to Koh Samui to Krabi and out from Phuket. Look forward to watching your travels.

I'd suggest heading from Bangkok to the island of Koh Chang in the east just by the Cambodian border, it only takes 6 hours on a coach from Bangkok and is a beautiful island. you can also then get a boat from Koh Chang to the islands of Koh Mak and Koh Kood, which are also beautiful. it's also a bit quieter than the southern islands of Thailand, with some great accommodation options.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I love your content and just subscribed the channel. I understand what you went through last time was not easy for you. Starting from the end of April until last week there is a celebration of the holiday for Muslims in Indonesia (Eid Al-Fitr). Most people who don't celebrate it, use their day off for a vacation to Bali. It has been 2 years in a row that the government has prohibited people from taking vacations during the pandemic and finally this year the government has opened the doors of tourism for local and international tourists to come to Bali. The possibility of chaos is unavoidable because they have never felt so busy like this since the pandemic. I also work at a travel agent in Bali, experiencing the same thing to get room availability because Bali was very full at that time, but it should be handled properly 😊. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your next trip in Thailand and I am so excited to see your vlog from other countries too. Have a great one!

Let this video be a lesson to anyone who decides to travel as a digital nomad during Covid times. - Educate yourself on where you're at and where you're going, on what is going on in the place you're currently staying and local customs/holidays. - Do NOT trust third party websites for bookings and reservations. It is incredibly rare that they will ever refuse a booking, or confirm a location as fully booked. They want that money. - Stop trying to stay in the most crowded and populated tourist areas of every place you go. Seminyak and Kuta are both HIGHLY populated tourist areas of Bali (this video was posted in May 2022), it was a holiday, and you're trying to stay in this area the first month after Bali fully opened back up to tourism... Why? You could have stayed in Kerobokan, Sanur, a boatload of places in Denpasar, and still had ZERO issues getting to the airport. Try staying in places where tourists DO NOT EXIST, you'll be much happier for it. I promise. **For context, I've been traveling SEA since 2018 and have lived in Bali for over three years.** All the best to you both. 🤙🏼

In Thailand plenty of digital nomads base themselves in Chang Mai. Note that from late February, March And April is the burning season in Northern Thailand when crow residues are burned before the start of the planting season. During this period air quality can be quite poor in Chang Mai

Sorry you had a bad time. That happens and it’s hard to predict. I’ve been to places everyone I know LOVES and I had a bad time. Not having lodging is tough. I’m pre booking every night of my trip, but places I can cancel a few days in advance if I want to change my mind. ❤ also I like to look at my Astrocartography for places I visit. You might have difficult lines in Bali. ❤❤

I recommend you to learn about how people traveled the world 30 or so years ago w/o Agoda, Gojek or Handphone and take the best out of this...this will make your experience so much better. You are freaking out when your booking website makes a mistake or is not working perfect. Haha.....take it easy, enjoy the "unexpected" and go with the flow. Isn't this what we are really looking for when leaving our well protected homes?

hey, i'll book hotels at the last minute and then when fully booked because i don't understand the culture or holidays, i will whine and complain and make it the fault of the folks that won't give me a room at a reasonable rate. bali is booked but i guarantee there were rooms. the rooms fully booked were cheap places for locals - who are actually traveling in bali. pay $100+ for a room and wow all rooms available!

Hi Lloyd & Mandy. I am the subscriber of your videos. I always enjoy to watch your contents. So far I feel your content fair enough in 'judging' the situation you experiencing during your stay in Bali. But I feel so sad seeing this content. I feel your video title seems too provocative, especially on the word 'nightmare'. I hope this bad situation do not wipe your good experience during your stay in Bali, do not erase your good memory receiving Bali' s people hospitality.

@@riyanadipoetra6743 Biarin saja, trik utk menarik viewer memang begitu.

@@LloydandMandy Also been to Bangkok twice as it’s just so cool. I highly recommend Chatuchak market on weekends wow. You need a full day to really explore this as it’s humongous from memory. Filled with endless randoms.. I can’t remember the name of the rooftop bar we went to years ago but the speakeasy one looks cool. Fantastic train transport we found as Bangkok is massive and so diverse you will find. Shop around to find just a local ‘cruise around the river’ extremely cheaper. Wot Po was fascinating. Advise would be to make sure all the historical palaces are open on the day you go & must wear something to cover shoulders (lonely planet was my love hate bible at the time- old school I know:)) Khao san road full of kiwi Aussie backpackers but a great spot for people watching nonetheless… warning must have a sense of humour upon entry 🤩 an hour before dark probably lovely buzzing time

Little Suggestion when you booked hotel last minute, right after your booking confirmed trough Online ( Agoda etc ), you should make sure by phone / whatsapp ( Some hotel probably don't have website, but surely they had instagram and they always put their contact - whatsapp on their instagram ). and always ask your confirmations number from the hotel, this indicate that you name listed on their system. I'm working in travel agency and I keep doing this to make sure my guest had their room when they're check in.

I can't see how bad planning on your behalf creates an emergency on the others behalf?? If you booked in advance things might be a lot better for you...if you don't like booking ahead and want to be spontaneous then this is your issue...and also why not boom direct with hotels etc?? why use a third party site?? the hotel gets less profits if you book thru an app....so they run a business and really don't like the booking agents taking their profits. Maybe do some looking into the cultures and festivals, religious activities of the countries you visit...knowledge is power. It's a feedback...if your not enjoying the negative feedback then don't post things!!! Stop blaming bad things on your lack of preparation....seriously it looks pathetic.
