We’re a group of language learners and polyglots who have a passion for culture and figuring out the world’s many idioms and expressions. We are all interested in sustainable language learning and are not too into the “learn X language in one week” or experiences countries for a short few days and ending it there.

I took Chinese, Korean, French, and Portuguese at GMU and found it was not an effective learning method for me. I'm accomplishing a lot more studying independently, because I can focus on the topics I really care about and use the tools I enjoy to learn. Plus the breakneck pace of college courses meant I couldn't give the material time to sink in before moving on to the next thing - so I ended up learning for the exam and then forgetting the material quickly after. But everyone is different - this was just my experience and it may differ for others. It's very structured for people who find that helpful.

Interesting topic! I prefer self-learning But I actually started my language learning journey at a language school. I learned there how to learn a language, and after finishing there I used tools I acquired there, built my self-learning plan and just kept learning by myself
