Metal putty. Saved my arse a few times. Especially with cracked radiators.

What i always have in my cars (and i don’t know the English words for it right, sorry for that): a seal that stays elastic. A kneading seal. Over here in Europe it is Bostik and it can fix lose things, stops some parts rattling, keep things in place, and of course can seal where a tape can’t fit perfectly. And in contrast to things like silicone its easy removable without any marks. Worth checking it out.

If you could share a closeup picture or similar at the sockets you are carrying specific for the Defender it would be fantastic 🙏 I always bring too much, and it would be great to he able to narrow it down to the absolutely essential like Gag did for you in Japan 🙂

I’d recommend a “Lestherman” I carry one on my belt or in my backpack; being a multi tool they are a compromise but it’s surprising how often they get the job done.

I would add a torque wrench. I don’t trust myself and prefer to rely on a torque wrench to tighten my wheel nuts properly. It also helps a lot to detect a wheel nut that starts to get loose. That’s the difference between loosing a wheel nut on the trail or not. A video about your spare parts would be a good following episode.

one of my absolute favourite bits of kit, is a set of 'wobble socket' extension bars - so so useful for getting the socket/ratchet into places you wouldn't normally be able to!

KNIPEX Pliers Wrenches! I have several sizes in all of my tool kits. I carry a small one on motor cycle trips or additional a bigger one in the camper. In my opinion, way more universal than adjustable wrenches and they always grab snug.

Just watched this again, really excellent small kit with the most important items. I think you need to add a file, mini hack saw and side cutters to give stubborn items a bit of motivation, shorten a bolt or something etc., cheers!

Amazing kit Leigh. Never imagined you could get away with only one spanner! I carry too much stuff. I love the 3/8 set. I think I told you that. Japan opened my eyes for that. We in Europe are brought up with 1/2 sockets. But I'm willing to down shift. Love the King Tony stuff as well.

Get a different wheel brace or carry a length of pipe that will fit over the bottom section, those sliding type one’s have a habit of breaking especially if someone has used a ratchet gun on your wheel nuts. Love your videos.

An epoxy that bonds in water (for patching a radiator) and a couple popsicle sticks and a tiny piece of cardboard to mix it, a couple files, a can of Ballistol, blue oil resistant thread locker, a stick tube of copper anti-seize, a test light, wire strippers, a pair of long reach pliers, mini bolt cutters, small hacksaw, alligator clamps for the multimeter, upgrade the hex wrenches to ones with ball ends, locking pliers, hook and pick set, an extendable magnet and mirror, get a long pry bar probably 3 ft long and tuck it somewhere. For hose clamps, get the long roll and the individual clamps because you can make hose clamps from a few inches long to a few feet long. A roll of stainless wire you can bend is another alternative that when tied around something and then twisted can secure things, even keep bolts from coming loose or an exhaust that is about to fall off and even be used to make hose clamps. Just things to consider.

Never found those extending levers much good , you would struggle to shift a big nut with it . It’s the angle on the bar , means you won’t be able to get your big hammer on it . Swap it for a straight bar with half inch drive , also a 10 and 13mm ratchet spanner to go with the 17 👍

That could just as easily of been my tool tote lol, so now you have gone through it is there anything you feel that is not there but maybe, my only advice is to get some nitril talcless and proper mechanics gloves, plus a couple of vice grips good for pinching off brake lines if you rip a brake line off yes it happens don't ask and a larger set for removing rounded off nuts and bolts lower shock mounts bolts ground down over rocky terrain or as a temporary battery post grip if the battery connector cracks yep my Series 3 did that in the middle of know where, lastly a set of drill easiouts for removing cross hatch, torqx and hex head fixings also small cargo and large ratchet straps have used these to hold axles in place a bed topper and an exhaust oh and the engine when a mount broke, this is a bag that has grown in the 45yrs of touring and offroad adventure's I have a smaller one for my motorcycle.

Great Video and very helpful. Could I ask you to provide some advice or a list of spare parts that would be essential for a prolonged period of time where servicing and self repair would be a factor. So I'm guessing service kits, oil brake pads etc but do you have a list you could share ?

Is the Jacob's Chuck on that chuck adapter removable? If it's modular then you could probably replace it with one that can be hand-tightened, allowing you to do without the key. EDIT: Your 3/8" driver handle, you might want to be on the lookout for similar ones that build the screwdriver handle onto a socket extension. This allows the ratchet to slot into the handle end, allowing it to be used as any old long socket extension in addition to being a driver handle. I've got them in 1/4" and 3/8" drive and they're incredibly handy when a fastener is _just stuck enough_ to be a pain, but not so bound as to require being ratcheted-off the whole way.

I have been in formal meetings in WA then someone pulls out a mosquitoes net, puts it over their head to protect them from the pesky flies and nobody says a thing. Totally acceptable.
