Great reaction as ever. Lol of course we Ghost fans don't believe Elizabeth was a good person, as always it's all theatrical. It's like a horror movie but as music. Opus is definitely their darkest album lyrically.

That’s the point I was trying to make albeit poorly 😁. Liking a song about someone isn’t the same as condoning a person. Unfortunately us metal fans get pigeon holed into that stereotype if you know what I mean!

Such a great song. Unfortunately Tobias rarely play it live anymore. It's too difficult for him to sing. Not a request for a reaction but if you really want to take in the journey Tobias has gone through the past 11 years i recommend that you watch the second ever show they played live. It's 30 minutes long and is here on KZfaq. Ten minutes in a guy in the crowd just shouts "This is bloody brilliant". Wonder if he knew how right he was. Good reaction 🤘

I mean he's only gotten better as a singer, he prolly just thinks it doesn't fit the vibe of the new Ghost live. Also they just have so many good songs now, it could possibly show up live in the post-album tour.

Thanks, Magnus! Some songs are just like that - not necessarily the vocal range, but the timing, and space to breathe can be a real challenge on stage!

Hi, from Sweden! I'm a little bit jealous of you that so recently discovered Ghost. You have so much great music to listen to. I can most surely say that you will not find a single song that you hate. Maybe you listened to all of their music by now, but if you haven't, I will be very pleased if you reacted in the son Ghule/Zombie queen, which was my favourite song when I discovered them back in the days. Enjoy!

It’s been a fun journey! I’m no stranger to Swedish metal but somehow I ignored Ghost passing them off as a just another generic pop shock rock band.

Love yours reactions! As a Pole, I know her history quite well. Many historians are inclined to the theory that Elizabeth Bathory fell victim to a conspiracy of the Habsburgs seeking to take over Hungary. After the death of her husband, she managed the vast estates herself, was an intelligent and successful woman. The murders could not be conclusively proven, they were based on rumors. But that doesn't change the fact that I love the song itself!

Yeah this song is really evil haha. Honestly I think the implications of this song might be worse than Ritual? Not sure. I don't think Ghost would do something like Elizabeth anymore, doesn't fit the new style. But it's good to keep in mind that they just love scary vibes. No, we don't actually think Elizabeth is a good person. She's just a vampire like spooky figure and a metal symbol. Especially the first couple albums were a little more eerie. And it's great. But I can see why it'd be off-putting for some.

I think I've been desensitized to the story of Elizabeth by Cradle of Filth back in my high school days! Honestly, I love the horror vibe they are going for! One band that nails the horror vibe to perfection is a black metal band called Carach Angren (album Death Came Through a Phantom Ship). Check them out if you haven't already!

Ghost fans are here for the evil scary imagery. This song fits that bill. One of my favorite Ghost songs despite it being very different from their newer style. But just because people love to listen to this kind of thing and metal music kinda glorifies it in a way doesn't mean that fans really like that stuff in real life. It's about story telling, shock factor, and the taboo a bit. Most actual Satanists I know wouldn't think someone like Elizabeth is a good person, either.

Next i recommend a more modern banger, ghost - rats! Con clavi con dio from the first album is the last one I'd like you to react to from ghost early days but it's definitely... Satanic. You seem to not like that theme, afterwards it gets watered down even though it's all parody.
@FlameImperishable

Yeah we’ll hit up Rats next! I think it depends on the context of the lyrics, but yeah there are some topics that might make us a bit uncomfortable! 😳😬. But we are adults so I think we can handle it and still be respectful!

No no, obviously we don't stan Bathory, even the song is pretty tongue-in-cheek. I would go even so far as to say this song parodies odes to awful people like that, while also producing high quality content!

Fun fact, the first video game I ever owned when I first got my Nintendo in 1989.... Simon's Quest. I still remember looking at game magazines in grocery stores trying to figure out where/how to beat the game. The game was so obtuse, but I loved it! Especially the music!
