Allemansrätten is actually not just for public land. You can pick berries and camp in a private forest, just not in someone's backyard near a house.

Which is the whole point of it. Obviously you can reside on PUBLIC land... I hate that part of this video, it's so annoying seeing two swedes not understanding this which is super basic.

The tree bark as part of bread was originally to simply have something to eat in years that crops failed. Bark can be ground to a fine flour and mixed with the little wheat or rye flour you have. There might be some bakery still producing bread with bark, but it is not a common thing...

The bark was eaten due to starvation during the famine years. It's not something someone ate because they wanted to eat bark. They also boiled their shoes and ate

Denmark & Sweden have a lot in common, but in Denmark we have 85% of Danish origin. Most likely due to stricter immigration laws than Sweden had. So for years Swedes thought of Danes to be a bit racist (Some of them were). But that resulted in less immigration issues than Sweden has experienced. So as far as i'm aware, they been looking at changing the immigration law in Sweden being closer to the Danish. On another note, immigrants/refugees sometimes have relatives or friends in a certain country, so they wanna go to that exact country & therefore won't seek asylum, before reaching that country. All the best from Denmark ❤

The tree bark is kind of wrong. You remove the outer bark. Then on top of the wood is a thin "membrane " you can eat.

Richard is not quite correct about kroppkaka and palt. Palt is a specialty from the North parts of Sweden. But the difference between the two dishes is that kroppkaka are made with half cooked potatoes and half raw potatoes. Palt, on the other hand, is made with only coarsely grated potatoes, flour and salt, which you mix together to form a batter.

You bring up good points about the immigration. Not all immigrants cause problems, but enough of them do to make people notice. The biggest issue the troublemakers cause is crime - just in general. There are a lot of immigrant gangs these days and there are shootings every day, not even exaggerating. Economic crime is however the biggest issue we have in Sweden: All our systems are built on the principle that you only take what you need and leave the rest for others. The systems are built on trust. A big problem is the government aid for disabled people - this is a very necessary function, but immigrants found out that they could cheat the system by having one family member fake being disabled and then file that another family member (or several) has to work full-time to help this "disabled person". This would in turn grant the family members "salary" in the form of more government aid. In some cases, these crime families would get 100's of thousands Euros in aid. Absolutely insane, and even though this was reported on in the news the problem remains, if reduced. All this leads to is that the government has to control everything much tighter, leading to much longer wait times for services. Basically makes everything worse, for everyone. Then we have the "passives" who live outside of Swedish society, don't learn the language, just soak up government welfare and produce children they otherwise could not afford to have, which is not right for the kids or the country they live in. Unfortunately, their kids often end up in gangs and get killed at a very young age. These people are part of the demographical problem many immigrants pose. Some areas of Sweden are demographically foreign these days. Swedish culture and norms are not present there. Like this (simplified): Add 1 immigrant to 100 natives = little to no problem, this individual will be integrated in no-time. Add 10 immigrants to 100 natives = Some issues, but will work out after a longer time. Add 100 immigrants to 100 natives = The immigrants will not be integrated. They will form their own community and try to preserve their way of life.

Tide and the size of it depends on many things. In addition to the pull of the moon, the rotation of the earth, and the current latitude, it is affected by currents, the shape of the seabed, how much open sea there is offshore, and several other things. In some places, all this is negated by blocking landmasses, seabed conditions and countercurrents, creating a so-called "amphidromic system", with no or almost no differences in sea level. The Skagerrak and Kattegat between Norway and Sweden form just such a system. The Baltic Sea where Stockholm is located is too small to form tides - so the difference in sea level is a few centimeters at most. Canada and Scandinavia cannot really be compared, even though they are located at approximately the same latitude. Scandinavia's climate is significantly milder than Canada's due to several factors. So there are actually quite a lot of people living in northern Sweden. Moose and reindeer meat is delicate, dark red and flavorful, perfect for a savory stew 😋. Japanese tend to love our pickled fish and I guess many Thais would think the same. Healthcare is not free but very very cheap. Seeing a specialist nurse costs $5 and seeing a doctor costs $10. The maximum cost for outpatient care per year is $140 and the maximum cost for all your prescription drugs is $220. So-called essential medicines such as insulin are completely free. And finally, contrary to what is claimed on the web - the number of crimes committed has not increased by more than a few percent in recent years. For some years we have had a problem with violence between criminal gang members while many other types of crime have actually decreased. Btw. heartwarming to see you with your dogs 👍, keep up the good work…

You get paid for children ("barnbidrag" children grant) for every month until they turn 18 (around $200 per month). Typically, this is something that the children will get for themselves when they get a little older (like 14+) instead of the parents taking it. That way it acts like an allowance without the parents having to pay for it. When you start university studies, you get paid per the amount you're studying (so if you're only studying 50%, you get less than if you study 75% or 100%). University is typically completely free, although there might be some speciality ones that could have a fee. Otherwise it's usually just the accommodation that will cost you but that only comes into play if you have to move to another city for your university, otherwise you usually just live at home with your parents while studying.

Göteborg (Göte+Borg) derives from a people called Götar/Gautar. I dont know the years, but its the first people that populated southern Sweden, wandering from Germany. Borg = Castle/Tower/Fortress. So Göteborg means something like "The Tower of Göte" (which makes "Gothenburg" a weird translation) There have been ALOT of wars between Sweden and particularly Denmark though history, but also with Norway. So Göteborg has at times been the last outpost while the west coast belonged to Norway and Skåne to Denmark.

I would say Göteborg means more like the "geats stronghold" or something like that. Geats are the english name(gautar being old norse i think). Geats are first mentioned in the 2nd century by Ptolemy and later mentioned in Beowulf.

The reason for not having a registry of peoples foreign background dates back to nazi germany. If you do not know the ethnicity of people you can not easily single out a speciffic group of people like for example jewish people and that is why the government isn't registering peoples ethnicity in sweden, to protect them from something like that possibly happening.

Actually Sujy have right when you talk about the immigrant problem in Sweden. Sorry Max. I am a swedish man and differenses in values and morality when comes to different cultures have led to that some types of crimes like fore example sexual attacks like rape and so on have become so mutch more. I am not a rasist and one of my best friends are a somali african immigrant who newer should commit a crime and have god respect for women but sadly many others are not as god as he is.
