So true, but keep using it daily for about a month, and when you are sure they are gone, make sure the house is plugged, so the little beasties can't get back in.

As an American watching this I love to see the beautiful country. However, I have anxiety watching this since you’re driving on the opposite side of road than we do and I keep feeling like you’re gonna crash. Lol. But I hope to visit such a beautiful countryside some day and show you what a nice American is like. No yelling and being a jerk. Just being thankful and kind.

You get used to it quit fast but I drove our own car with the driver's side on the left changing gear with the right hand. I suppose it could even be more complicated when driving in a British car changing the gear with your left hand. Also changing from km to miles has its own complications. Crossing the street walking is a lot more complicated to get used to.

Thomas Telford sounds like a highly skilled, intelligent Scotsman. Makes you want to say "Wha's like us?" I am a life long resident of the U S. However, I have travelled to the U K more than once. I have even bought a tea towel once with the slogan "Wha's like us?" slogan as a tourist souvenir.

Wow! This is going to be great! I have heard of Telford, (am Australian) but that's because I am an architecture/restoration nut! But it's the garden that draws me, that beautiful soil, the trees, the moss that means plenty of rain.Good luck to the family as the journey begins. As to the mice and spiders, you know a cat will sort both those problems, and a good 'smudging' should solve any ghostly problems. It's the living, not the dead, who can be the scariest. Enjoy your treasure!

My mom and dad used to do this with homes. I can remember many a night scraping linoleum off the floor or holding up dry wall and mudding and sanding. I love old homes and this one is going to be beautiful when it's done. As for the mice are you sure they are not rats? What you need is a really good rat terrier. My Jack would have had that place clean of any mice in no time flat, and as for the spiders, you need some good garden black runners. Here in Florida they eat the spiders and the other insects, before they even have a chance to get in the house. I am sad to say I have never heard of this architect, but I am sure there are many American architects that you are not aware of. I love learning about different places in the world: their history, stories, food, farming methods, how their people lived in the past. The aerial views were a great way to show the layout of the house and land. Now, I want to go for a walk in the woods. When coronavirus is over, or more controlled, I would love to come and stay in that B and B.

What a fantastic vlog and an amazing project your parents have undertaken! Here in the U.S., we call it property “flipping”...buying a place and refurbishing it for resale. But houses that old and historic are very few and far between here. I’m afraid I’ve never heard of Thomas Telford, but what a wonderful history that place has! Thank you for the explanation of the term “manse”. I didn’t know the meaning when I came across the word in the “Outlander” book series, but now it makes sense. Here, we call a home provided by the church for the pastor or minister a “ parsonage” ( in protestant churches) or a “rectory” (in the Catholic Church). I always learn so much in your videos, Shaun. I look forward to watching your parent’s progress on their incredible project!

Anyway, she told us stories of things that happened as she was growing up (still trying to find out what "kiltie boys" really meant, but like learning as much as I can). My father was in the military and we brought her back in '63, and what I remember of it was amazing. I know about Thomas Telford because I follow a few narrow boaters and they often tell which bridges, canals etc. were designed by him. It’s a beautiful building and grounds, it will be a lot of work but will be amazing when it’s done. I also watch some Chateaux restorations in France and they do a really good job on their videos so they have a lot of patrons who are helping with the restoration. The better the videos the more patrons they have. During the pandemic their viewers just multiplied and people depend on them to help keep them sane. I hope the restoration goes well.🙋🏼

Hello from a subscriber in Mississippi! The Scottish Highlands are beautiful, they remind me of the mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina. I laughed out loud when you said the floor wasn’t safe and your Dad hopped up and down. Best of luck with the renovation. It looks like a very interesting property. I had not heard of Thomas Telford but I googled him. Very talented man. Always enjoy your videos!

Hello Shaun, i most deffinately know of Thomas Telford! Because i am also a Civil/Structural Engineer & Architect. But please correct me if i'm wrong. I read that Thomas Tilford was The FIRST President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and it was then he was Charged by The Parliamentary Commission to Lead & Supervise the building of The Highland Churches & Manses. Shaun, that is Beautiful Country i am so envious that the natural beauty of The Highlands is just a 4 hour drive from your home in Edinburgh! Thank you Shaun for sharing the beauty of Scotland!

There is so much about those breathtaking scenes that remind me of the wilds on northern Minnesota. No lichen, of course, but I felt like I was spending a weekend at the cabin "up north" here. Since I haven't had the opportunity to do that in a couple years, it was a rush of peaceful energy to see in your video. If you ever make it to the midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin) make sure you take a journey north. Especially in the fall.

Hi Sean, good video!! The Victor electronic mouse killer is a 100% reliable device from Amazon. Buy a good few of them. Stick peanut butter inside them. Guaranteed every day the Victor will zap a mouse dead. The Victor can be emptied daily without you having to touch the dead mouse. The batteries will last for around 150 kills. About £25-£30 each. Take care. Love from Scotland, x.
